You and he are straining a gnat but swallowing a camel: being judgmental and unloving (you delighted in his supposed sarcasm when he said he wanted to trim the fuzz off his sweater - don't you see the hate in that?). As someone who loves both branches of the church and is open to seeing the faults of both sides, let me warn you. Right or wrong, stop sitting in the seat of mockers and go talk to those prechers directly or not at all. Some of those megachurches are good (no - don't shake your head at me - open your ears) and alive and filled with the spirit. I have many years of experience of both. You and your branch fall into the other side: lukewarmness, coldness, dryness and the death of hate. Open your heart to love for ALL. The rapture is just around the corner. One will be taken, the other one left. 5 virgins will enter, 5 will be locked out. Get on your knees at 3am and wait for God for one hour. Find him. Find out how to talk to him and hear him every moment of the day. Make sure you're doing only what you see the father doing. Make sure that when there is a need, you have the faith to meet it. That the gifts of the Spirit are in your life. The Christian life is not all mental and good works. It is spiritual new life and love for all.

I used to be an avid listener to Steven Furtick and other "preachers" like him, but praise be to God that He pulled me out from such heretical teachings and helped me go deeper into the real Word of God. Nothing beats personal Bible Study and the power of the Holy Spirit.

I used to watch Steven, Mike, Joyce and many others from that group of preachers. Recently my eyes were open that the WORD is all I need, and that so so so many preachers don’t go deeply enough into the Word, instead “preaching” their way around the real Gospel. I’m so thankful my eyes have been opened. ❤

Steven reminds me of a sloppy drunk frat boy that realizes his paper is due at 9 am and it is 3 am. So he starts writing about anything to fill a paper with word salad. There is no content to the presentation. It is amazing that people were cheering him on as if he was giving secrets to the meaning of life for free.

As an English treacher that is a really stupid question. They are described as blind so we can know 2 blind people received sight, if they were not described so saying they received sight wouldnt make any sense. Sometimes Pastors run out of messages just allow one of your assistants to preach and bless the church.

He's trying to make it an issue of identity, as if we shouldn't say two blind men, because that's an insult, instead call them Bob and Jim, or two seeing people. Call them by how they are now, for example. I think it's a subtle transgender agenda

As a young and newly Christian I started watching Steven Furtick when I first came to Christ due to him just being popular but as I grew in my faith and got into church I learned really quickly Furtick wasn’t what I needed to be listening to. He just encourages people and talks too much about personal things instead of preaching the word and the truth and pointing folks towards Christ and away from sin, I’ve now started listening to people like Voddie Baucham and it has had such a huge impact on my faith.

This was worth the *thumbs up for the contrast you made about how the false teacher is actively distracting from the text* and examples of real exposition.

Steven Furtick took the night off, “AGAIN” and didn’t study for that morning’s lecture. He had to think up something quick, to make the audience respond well …..to “him.” We must pray for Steven Furtick.

Justin is critical and has a religious spirit. He attacks people, and not the spirit at work in people. He also claimed we don't talk to Satan. Well newsflash, Jesus did. Eve did Adam did, Judas did. So if someone comes to your home to try and hurt you, your not going to speak to them? No you would tell them to GET OUT. You would call the police, you might even use a weapon to protect yourself. That's what is wrong in the church to much division, debate and argument while Satan is advancing his kingdom. You better talk to him and speak the Word as Jesus did.

Hebrews 10:25. Encourage you to find fellowship whether in a house church or bible study. I've been subtly deceived by satan to not attend church for a while and he thrives on disciples being on islands. Any rate, Paul "encourage" you to go to church but it was no command of the Creator nor His Christ. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness therefore. Therefore, wherever I am, be that among plants/animals or people, I am in the presence of brethren. If church was that transformative we wouldn't have pastors sitting on the pulpit 20+ years but still having homosexual relationships with the young men in the church

I attended Elevation church briefly. I had walked away from my faith for over 25 years. I heard a few sermons from Steven furtick and I started to listen to him for about 6 months online. Then I attended his church in person. It felt like a rock concert. Steven requires the first few rows of people to stand and scream for him or they are asked to move. So many people who attend think they are following god. I heard them talking about things like equity and inclusion. I said I have to leave this place. I started reading my Bible and I have since joined a small reformed Baptist church where I am actually hearing scripture in its true form. Beware of these mega churches. God is missing.

I do not attend Elevation church, but I am a pastor's wife who has felt the sting of misjudgment by other "leaders" within the church who took their comments, criticisms, and opinions to the community rather than having an honest conversation face to face. This video makes me sad, but not for the reason it was intended.

If you are doing it for God Almighty and Jesus Christ, then suffer for Christ Jesus. All Christians face persecution. Our Savior had it the worst , so therefore our tiny tineey miniscule portion of the bitter cup with tons of mercy is bearable because it's glory to God. It hurts and it's agony , but be teachable. But let me clarify: I was quietly suggesting that we all consider a more Biblical approach when critiquing and mocking preachers, teachers, and leaders in the Church. Not only do our remarks hurt the one in question, but the World is watching us "bite and devour" one another (Galatians 5:15). This is not biblical or godly either. We are all guilty of this, I don't deny it . I simply menat that we should be cautious (I learned this the hard way) when standing in the judgment we dish out.

I knew a former teacher who became a pastor of a small charismatic leaning church in retirement. Even though we didn't attend his church, we were friendly acquaintances. Once I asked what his sermon was going to be about on the following Sunday. He replied that no pastor knows what he is going to preach until the spirit moves on Saturday night. I asked him if that was the way he taught his classes when he was a teacher. He said, "Of course not. We had to turn in our next week's lesson plans to the principal before we left on Friday." I asked him why he didn't put the same preparation and planning into sharing the Word of God. He didn't say much after that.

True, but God has also been known to change the pastor’s message last minute, so while I am 💯% for studying and preparing, I think maybe his intent was that the message has to come from the Holy Spirit, not from our flesh. I don’t want to speak for him, but it’s just a thought.

@@Batya-Grace The more prepared you are the more flexible you can be. This guy admitted he didn't open his Bible to prepare his sermon until Saturday evening. That isn't the Holy Spirit leading, that is procrastination and lack of preparation.

I'm an escapy from elevation church. And I am so grateful God led me away from that sinful heretic.

What Steven Furtick says about not calling the men what they were (blind) is trying to appease the minds of today's 'politically correct' society. 'Don't point out their handicap, etc.' And also, I noticed immediately when he said early on "And IF He restored their sight" - BIG red flag right there to me. Steven Furtick is a deceiver and I thank the Lord for discernment in every moment.

You are so wrong: The Pharisees followed their own man made laws over God's laws, but they were scribes and knew the scriptures. Which were also, why they were without excuse: They should have known better!

I pray that the people ,caught in the web of deceit, that has been cast out by these false teachers, can have the scales removed from their eyes before it’s too late. Thank you again John Henry!

That's part of the problem. The Web is saturated and replete with false teachers and false doctrines. The church of our times is often filled with a mixture of churchgoers and Christians. Which drives the popularity and success of these false ministries. Hence, no genuine desire for true biblical shepherds. And therefore, there is no real commitment to spiritual growth and maturity through sound biblical teaching. Under no uncertain terms, Satan, these last days, is planting his tares among the wheat. It also appears that the great apostasy is in total progress. Which is not just merely a misinterpretation of scripture but a spirit of rebellion and defiance of the Truth of God. Many of the so-called Christian leaders are leading the sheep to violate and disregard the warning of 1 John 2:15 through the clever and cunning ruse of patriotism and allegiance to Satan's gigantic, shiny, and beautiful red, white, and blue Apple.

I think the last part is worth emphasizing as well not just that they received their sight which shows amazing compassion and an amazing miracle, but following the miracle they followed Jesus. All sign in the story is that they called out Lord son of David. Those who call upon the lord shall be saved.

Just discovered your podcast. I’m a continuationist but appreciate Justin Peters ministry and listen to him among others. Steven Furtick is not someone I do listen to. I saw this broadcast on Justin’s channel. This is rich. Thanks for reposting for others who might not listen to his channel. It was good to be reminded and I had another chuckle just at the mild facial expressions Justin made and the look in his eyes. I get it. Couldn’t help but think of this verse Romans 11:8 as it is written: “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that could not see and ears that could not hear, to this very day.” My church closed, because of Covid. Therefore, I have been visiting different churches in my area. I have just been in total shock at the condition of the churches. He is not the only preacher that shouldn’t be behind a pulpit. I just can’t believe theses churches are filled with people hanging on every worthless word. It’s appears to be the norm. It so bazaar, that I decided it must be a spirit of stupor. All I can say is “Come Lord Jesus, Come”!

Agree. I can't even be bothered to go to church anymore here in Denmark. Hardly any preaching at all left. Actually, the only time I heard a kind of long preaching on the Bible text in a church here, it was a pastor, who I even thought was a personal friend, who preached against me as a dirty old man, only because of online slander. I walked out the door and never will look back. The church in our days are absolutely antichrist and has turned all commandments for our life upside down. In USA though, even when you also have all these false mega churches and many extremely heretical preachers, you also still got good pastors. I have listened to many in the past, as for instance Charles Lawson, Temple Baptist Church, Knoxville TE and Robert Breaker and David O'Steen (The Cloud Church and Hope Bible Church GA).

Wolves dressed as sheep. This is one reason church, in general, is failing today. May God save the world

I am still amazed that this kind of “mega church” is full all the time. Are we really blind ? 😮

My church was formerly in the United Methodist Church organization. And we saw others in the UMC continuing their trek away from the source material. So we got out when we could. Unfortunately, many churches in the UMC were told by their bishops that they shouldn't discuss disaffiliation...

This is very helpful discernment to assist us being submissive to Christ.

Thank you so much for this. I know this was from God to me. I am planning a revival in San Antonio at The Alamodome and invited Steven to preach at it. Surprisingly his secretary reached back out to me accepting the invitation and I filled out a private inquiry form. I was excited to know he was going to come. But I saw this. Now I have withdrawn my request to Steven.

Thank you for speaking about this. I have been noticing this for years from certain preachers but never spoke out about it. I take my faith serious because of what I have been through. I feel like a lot of preachers/ pastors stretch the meaning of some context to more than its intended purpose. A true spiritual leader will not take the context out of proportion because their heart will speak for itself. 🙏🏽

I don't blame these false prophets....I blame the non blind people who follow him blindly. As simple as that.
