Rarely does a cover do justice to the original work, but I think this one may even surpass the original. I seriously can’t stop listening to it

I was a young woman when Simon and Garfunkel released this song, and I found it very powerful then. Now I'm 77 and this version is even more moving and more prophetic. Timeless.

I know exactly what you mean. I am also now 73 and I cried when I heard the power of these words again, but even more meaningful in these sad, lonely, corrupt and "silent" days...... But what a powerful rendition is this? Even better than the original.

I am 70 and just love this version, it is Powerful, I would love to take it up a mountain and let the world hear it,

My dad passed of cancer in June of this year and he loved this song. Makes me cry listening now.

Because it reminds me of my military brother who passed away.

I heard this as an evolving teen upon its first play and now half a century later this rendition stirs me to my core. I only pray the generations between its first release and today 2023 are stirred to understand it’s message and talk to each other instead of masking their thought with a cloak of silence. Disturbed has a perfect titled to sing this with such an emotion!

Anyone listening to this in November 2023 and crying because humanity has been lost on earth and this song is accurate because the silence is deafening ?

You should add as it always was when Paul Simon first wrote it and performed it with his friend Art Garfunkel. Although this cover captures the angst of the original for a modern audience it adds nothing to the original performance.

if you haven't heard the original, you should check it out. If for no other reason than to see what it started as. Being that this is the version you heard first, I would guess that the original would seem rather quiet and passive to you now. But hearing the original gives you that much more appreciation for the power and emotion that David Draiman expresses in this version. I liked the original version fine, but the first time I heard this version I was awed by how powerful it is. TL;DR if you have to choose one, this is definitely the one to choose, but you should listen to the original if you have the opportunity

the sound if silence, more powerful than the words un said, i played this at my youngest brothers funeral, he decided to take his own life at the young age of 18, countless friends that have taken their own life. this song will forever hit home.

I lit one for your brother, or any souls that may be wandering close by, to have a safe rest. The Inuit have a tradition of stacking flat stones, into the rough shape of a person standing up and pointing, along a route as a marker of the path home, a spirit guide. At age 43 and a avid music follower with a taste for metal grunge , rock. it doesn't happen often you come across a song that... that stirred up deep emotions. so beautifully sang I felt every word. He told the story so well. This one trumps the original. Which is to sweet for the message told.

No one could ever sing this song as good as him , not even Michael Jackson. And I am also as old as dirt .

His version of this song moved me to tears, it continues to be one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. So powerful, beautiful and moving

I can really think of only one voice on a par...that of Ronnie James Dio

OMG I love DISTURBEDS version of the Sounds of Silence. I was only in primary school when this first came out. Since hearing this version, it's so powerful it brings me to tears each time. Really listening to the lyrics makes you stop and think about what is becoming of us when we aren't communicating with each other. I have this on my play list. So, yeah, a moderately old duck like me is listening to this in 2024, and beyond.

I love his powerful voice. When he starts hitting those deep metal-like notes, I think on my dad who passed away (he was a huge fan of Disturbed and this cover of the song), and it even makes me tear up. Such a great cover song. They really made it their own thing.

I know ur pain & am so sorry for ur loss. Lost my daughter 3 months after she turned 21..5 years in March. Raising two beautiful granddaughters.

“People talking without speaking. People hearing without listening. People writing songs that voices never share.” Nuff said.

I absolutely love this rendition. It gives me goose bumps! I play it often and send it to many people.

I also share this song with everyone I can because the original was brought out 57 years ago and no one listened and no one's still listening

This is one of my fav songs from S and G but the version overwhelmed my body. I mean I got goose bumps all over, my heart rate increased and my tummy flipped all at the same time. I’m replaying to get that hit again! Glorious. Thank you.

What can you say beautiful! I love the Moody Blues rendition of this song is nothing the way he sings this song is so powerful!!

This song has been my favorite since the original came out in 1964....(yes I'm old...lol) but THIS...THIS is how I always envisioned the lyrics SHOULD be sung and the music played. I don't want to take away from Simon & Garfunkel in any way...but the lyrics just evoke the sadness and reverence that Disturbed has honored it with....THIS IS A MASTERPIECE. Thank you, Disturbed. Thank you Simon & Garfunkel.

Me too. I share your feelings on the world. Seeing people sad and dead inside almost drained due to this epidemic. It hurts my heart. Good to share my emotions somewhere and why not here after hearing this powerful song.

I still think that this is the most incredible version of this song. I remember the first time I heard it during lock down. Some of the videos were so compelling that it was scary. It still sounds that good today, I think it will live on as long as the world keeps on its current path into darkness

This is my favorite rendition of this song. It reaches something very primal inside me. Pink Floyd lyrics are still very relevant today, too. Ahead of their time.

Leave it to Disturbed to shatter my heart into a million pieces with the opening lines "Hello Darkness, my old friend" then instill pride and hope in my soul with the closing lines. Excellent job guys!

Amazing arrangement, stunning performance. That a wonderful piece of music could be shapeshifted into such a glorious rendition is pure magic. I'm 75, and will always want to hear this version, with gratitude to Simon & Garfunkel.

I'm in my 30's and I love rock but did not know about this. An older man in his 60s told me about this. I am blown away. All generations can share with each other and enjoy music from all genres and come together.
