Disturbed Sound Of Silence - REACTION
Ойын-сауық
This guys voice is crazy... did a good job with owning this song and what i mean by that is he didn't sing it like Simon & Garfunkel he did it his way. Take a listen and leave a comment below. Thanks for watching!!

I’ve seen dozens of reactions of this song/video, I like this kind of reaction the best. Reactions where the tuber feels the power of the song and get emotional. Tired of vocal coaches breaking down his voice and the video. They say things like “did you hear what he did with his voice?” Or “see the way he scrunches up his face?” They don’t feel the song, they’re just breaking it down. Perfect example of “Hearing without listening” You however, were listening to the music, feeling the lyrics and feeling the power of the vocals. Great reaction 🤙🏽
When a song ends and you feel like you were taken through a ringer, it was special. It was how it should have been many years ago.
I could see you fighting back the emotion, THAT is what real music does. IT CREATES EMOTION. Great reaction.

yes it does... i think it's the bridge for all things honestly if used properly.
we the people are "the wells of silence"....words of the prophets written on the subway walls and tenement halls...social decay... we remain silent...love love love david's interpretation!

The “neon god” was the invention of the television and “words of the prophet…… are graffiti. Make love not war! Peace ! Peace on earth etc.
David is a classically trained cantor. His control is magnificent. Every single time I watch this masterpiece I get goosebumps and I cry. I touches something very deep and far away inside of me. Millions of people...with and without faith have said that this version of the song was the closest thing that they have ever felt to a Religious experience. I am constantly drawn back to this video like a moth to a flame. To me...this is the very best cover...ever. Paul Simon has said that this song now belongs to David.

yea this song took it to me...lol
Every person that hears this version, gets emotional. Even to tears.
Thank you for your honest reaction, it made me think for the first time. In a long time, I am 62 and listened to different versions of this song. I can really hear the words for the first time, it has blown my mind 🤯 I think it's my favourite song of all time. Ever part of it meant something, you don't get many songs that can make me feel every single word, note, picture, expression, the whole thing. I loved it and I loved that you did a double take. Its not something you can only listen to once, every time will be different 😊
The Power conveyed of how important it is, that as humans we connect brought me to tears. David coming from a family of Cantors, knows how to sing emotion well.
Thank you for listening to the song all the way through before you spoke about it. I love this version so powerful and meaningful ❤

I couldn't stop it... There is no way that anyone should be able to
It took a lot of very smart people to put this awesome song together that's for sure
You're not alone. Many of us were transported to another place in our heads, hearts and souls when we first heard this. I broke down like many others. It touched me deeply, stirring up emotions I didn't know I had from places locked away. David can break my heart, cause me to feel like taking on the world or just amaze me. Thank you for your thoughtful reaction AND for replaying the song. It's remarkable. He's shown us that we've failed but there's still time to get it right.
Thank you so much for listening to this piece in it's entirety before commenting on it's content. It's such a profoundly beautiful vocal, as well as visual experience, that it really has to be listened to in it's entirety to be properly appreciated. Whatever Disturbed's genre may be, (and this piece doesn't even scratch the surface!), an incredible performance should always be appreciated.
If this doesn't move and affect you, you are without a soul.

you know what's funny about that statement, i just said that in another video i recorded the other day that i'm editing now. Great minds... but you are definately right.
this song tends to strike alot of people dumbfounded. it is a miracle he offers us. his voice is a gift to us especially considering what he has had to do to keep that voice. and thank you for not speaking over him. too many just break it up so much that its a sacrilage
I’ve been watching/listening to Disturbed’s cover of “The Sound of Silence” for years and every single time, it absolutely touches my soul. The first several times I watched it, I couldn’t keep the tears from falling. And still, today, I’m brought to the edge of my emotions by it ♥️

Every time. ❤
I’ve said it before, it’s almost a religious experience. It fits and sits right with every emotion. It starts off calm and balanced, it gains momentum and power, then comes love, despair and the pain that they invoke…. Then the moment that it all slips away leaving the hollow emptiness of devastation and gut wrenching finality. Beautiful, powerful and jaw droppingly thought provoking.
I've seen this video a hundred times and it is heart wrenching. I cry each time. There is something visceral in David's voice that grabs you and wrings out every emotion until you are spent. The Simon and Garfunkel version was the appetizer, Disturbed's version is the entire meal.

I love that you can literally see the experience of this song change people's lives
Every time I listen to this I get goose bumps because of his voice. It’s dark, sad yet exhilarating, all at the same time…
That feeling that welled up in you is the realization that something two artists tried to point out in the sixties through a song is still ( and may be worse) relevant today. "people hearing without listening" -- the current divide in our country "people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made" -- get you information from one source only never looking elsewhere. Paul & Art sang us a warning long ago David hammered home the fact that we did not heed the warning.

I have watched MANY reaction and review videos of this song because its one of m y all time favorites and may be the best vocal and PARTICULARLY the arrangement as he subtly paints layers on his canvas, which appears to be black to start, not stark white like. most. This song is maybe more relevant than when it was written and I think that is what makes it so timeless. These issues of communication (or lack thereof) must stop or we WILL end up somewhere we don't want to be as humans on this Earth. Thank you for saying what I have been feeling in a way which is much more elegant and poignant than what I could have done. (As you can see I tend to ramble when Im emotional)
I’ve been a lover of this song since I was a child, my older brother would play this and ‘Bridge over troubled waters’ over and over and over. I got the meaning at a very young age. I heard it again in the ‘Watchmen’ movie which started it all again ❤️ HOWEVER I discovered this version and the live version from the Conan O’Brien show only a few days ago and it has really touched my soul. I can’t stop listening to it. Simon and Garfunkel’s version was a soft warning of what may come and this is anger that we’ve let it happen. Magical 🙏 It has opened my heart and soul. Let’s start listening to our hearts, souls and each other brothers and sisters before the silence becomes permanent 😡. Thank you for playing it my friend I believe you got the message 🙏❤️.

I am 76 and remember when this came out and was played on the radio. I did not really understand it then. About a year ago, I came across the video of Disturbed. After that video, I called my younger son and asked him to listen to it and told him that I had finally understood the song. I agree with others that Simon & Garfunkel sang a warning while David is angry that we, as a society, have ignored that warning.

@@royreynolds108 I agree with you my friend but sadly after going through the recent epidemic I think many have become even more deaf and blind if that was possible 😢.
Paul Simon wrote this in 1963 as a warning as to how life would evolve to . This version is by far the best cover Paul Simon contacted him to congratulate him the only person he has ever done this to🌸🌸🌸
I'm 78 years old and listened to Simon and Garfunkel when the song first came out. And I loved it. But this guy .WOW WOW gave me chill's .The Power of his voice just went throw me .Wow
The very beginning of the video when a lot of people think there is something wrong with their volume, is the sound of silence. David (lead singer of Disturbed) put so much power and emotion into this song. His voice and facial expressions as well as the story going on in the video to the song made this my very favorite of all times. The live version is outstanding but that video pumped up the emotion to go along with David's version of the song. Always gives me goosebumps... Amazing!
It's not just you. I'm 51 years old I'm a male familiar with the old version by Simon & Garfunkel but this song hit you right in the soul.
Man to man, I just wanted to tell you that I truly appreciated your response to Disturbed's version of this song. You could tell that it had an impact on you. I was a big fan of Disturbed for their "heavy metal" music, but I believe their cover of Sound of Silence is their best song and my favorite of all time.
Disturbed is one of my top 3 bands of all time. I have literally listened to this song hundreds of times since it came out, it still gives me the chills every time. It is truly EPIC. I like the fact that you watched it twice as there is too much to absorb in one shot.

Well said! I recently Reacted to this for the first time and it SHOOK ME SO HARD!
This is what happens when the perfect lyrics meet the perfect artist to sing the perfect song. The video was a great story teller too.
Struck the chord placed in all human DNA by God which is why it pierces and resonates deep into our innermost being....the powerful spiritual cornucopia of MEANINGFUL lyrics, David's masterful vocals, the musical instrumentation, the video all express scripture in a single song...modern day prophet IMHO
Paul Simon called David after hearing his version and told him it’s his song now he’s never heard a better version
But amazing voice band and visauls. 10 out of 10 all the way around and in the running for best remake ever to me.
David is the 2nd best singer God ever made!! And he's my fave!! I love Disturbed! Got to see them in concert last year. Amazing!!! I do ove Disturbed!!! I love David Draeman!!!
Look, I must write this. You can keep your fancy opera singers. It's David Draiman for me every time. I have a tear trickling as I type. How can this man deliver like this ? To start with, when he opens his eyes on the word " vision " , he seems to look straight into your soul. . The song is to me, both a lament and a reproach filled with rage. I just adore this man's voice, and listen to it every day.
David's vocals is a LIQUID GOLD! And instantly, me at 65 became an instant HUGE FAN!...and was totally DISTURBED!!! OMG, I can't even believe that the singer, the song, and the lyrics would hit me this hard . OMG!!! 😍💗💓💝😘😘😘
Ain’t just you James,It shows you have a soul, lots of tears in this song
I've learned that David Draiman and Disturbed address depression, addiction and suicide during every concert, performance offering support and understanding. They are one of the most popular, loved bands of our time!
I cry every time I see the video and hear the song. It's done something to everybody who listens to it. I've watched one reaction video that showed the live version had 345 million hits. I loved your reaction. The song does leave you speechless. You probably have discovered by now that it's a song that was written in the early 60s I believe, by a group named Simon and Garfunkel. They were kind of looking to the future into a world in which technology has made people grow apart. The vision the writer has in the song is a warning that he wants people to heed. And when Disturbed sings it, It's almost like he's saying y'all didn't listen to Simon and Garfunkel so let me tell you again in a more powerful way. Thank you for doing a reaction video. 😍
The version of this song is so powerful. It always brings emotions.
One of the best first time reactions I’ve seen yet! I felt the same way, It was totally powerful and I couldn’t quite grasp what was going on in my brain after the first several times I watched it.
Words carry power, music carries power, visuals carry power. Added together, and we get magic xxx
Your face , at the end, PRICELESS! This song can definitely make you speechless…and his voice is AMAZING! Many have covered this song but only he does it BETTER!
Great reaction! As awesome as the studio version iof this epic song is, you have got to hear him sing it live on Conan. It's as if David Draiman wanted to make a point of reminding everyone what a naturally talented voice sounds like without the assistance of studio technology AND he performed it despite being sick that day. Complete with an orchestra, he delivered a performance for the ages. One that Conan celebrated last year when it became the most viewed video from his show ever. Keep up the great work!

I've been listening to this song since the 60's and have always enjoyed it. But it wasn't until Disturbed perform it that I felt it. Best reaction to this song I've seen. Clearly, you felt it as well. Nicely done!
I have watched so many people be overcome by this rendition…what I WOULD say is that whoever created the video should have HIGH praise.
The first time I heard this version I was lulled, entranced, stirred and angry. From one emotion to another. I had deep breaths, moments of realization, chills, goosebumps and tears. This invoked beauty on every possible level. If you can't feel this, you are dead.
Isn't that just music to your ears!! Thxs for not chirpping in every few seconds .. DOPE for sure!! Down With the Sickness Blow your mind!!
I absolutely LOVE watching reactions like yours!!! You so appreciated his cover, your complete, honest reaction showed everything you were feeling!!! It was great!! David is an incredibly, amazing singer & it was so cool to see such a "open" reaction!!
This is the most straight up honest reaction to this song I have seen and I have been on a kick watching them. Well done, man.
This touches you in a place inside you, that you very rarely can even get to
Paul Simon had a dream and it was about TV “the neon god” and how it took away communication from each other. Now it’s so much worse because of TV, Computers and Phones. Disturbed’s version is perfect for this era and David’s voice is just incredible.

Ive listened to this song without visuals a lot. It blows me away every. Single. Time.
I first heard this when the Conan performance came up on my feed abt a month ago. It touched me so deeply and I’ve listened to it at least 100 times, especially with different reviewers. Transports me to a different place. I’m not sure where but I feel all of his emoting. I’m not into music at all, but this song by Disturbed has touched me deeply. I’m a 75 year old grandmother who doesn’t do music, but this moved me. I think it’s the composition, emotion and raw talent of David. What he can do with his voice is phenomenal!! 😮

This is the first song I heard by Disturbed and it made me a fan. That's something from someone who will be 60 in April. 😁
isn't it so ironic when you hear his version of this song written originally in the 60's that your reaction is at the end to be silent and take that in? breathe in, breathe out... masterpiece lyrics from Simon and Garfunkel, more of a masterpiece and epic rendition from Disturbed!
I'm a Grandma and I thought that it was adorable when you said dis turbed. David Draiman is a classically trained vocalist. The reaction that you had is exactly the same reaction that we all have. That's why I subscribed to your channel. You're awesome.
Thank you for not interrupting it like everyone else does when they react
Simon and Garfunkle's version was a warning and David's version is the anger bc we didn't listen. I've watched many of these reaction videos and want to thank you for not pausing every few seconds to do talking points. It should be listened to all the way to get it's true effect...which is evident on your face by the ending.
It always goes to my head and to my soul. Always.
speechless the way i was when i first heard this amazing
Your face ! We all had it the first time. Love that you didn't stop every 5 seconds to say something. That gave you an opportunity to just listen. Loved yours more than anyone's I have seen!
No matter how many times I. Hear it, I come undone!
I love watching people's reactions to this song, people who truly felt it deep within them....beautiful. And thank you for not interrupting it. Your face said it all.
I tear up every time I hear it and I've seen the reaction videos about 30x. This is what I get out of the video and the words paired with it. Remember this some we written in the 60s, the "Neon God" and "Neon Light", IMO, was referring to the television. Some new technology that made people sit in their house and stare at the tv instead of socializing. Musicians were probably affected because they weren't the only gig in town anymore. The song starts out with his voice very restrained, but he is going to tell you his story from a musicians POV., that is the beginning part, then as he tells the story you see instruments being pulled from the dirt, trees and even on fire. Musicians now alone, recognizing what no one cared about anymore, but the musicians still cared, they collected in instruments but the pain still hurts to see how far they've fallen. Looking across the waters and they people that used to watch them, now you are watching them on an island away. Sad and angry, the musicians rise up! They call it out and somehow there is a reconciliation and the people invite the musicians to come back, thus an abrupt "happy ending" where the two sides are reunited again. Today was a great time to redo this song, because now it could refer to the internet. "people talking but no voices are heard", "people hearing without listening", people wearing head/earphones. This is how I see it, maybe that is why I tear up every time I hear it.
Who was written back in the sixties and it has come to pass the song was giving me written way before its time but the songwriter and original singer Paul Simon likes to cover that Disturbed did he has it on his own playing list another good song that's a favorite of mine I don't know if you'll like it it has a strong message in it it's down with the sickness it would be good to listen to the long version because it really explains what the song is truly about it has a powerful message in it
Written 50 + years ago by Simon & Garfunkel, they obviously new the future, change silence to mobile phone/Nintendo etc, the silence is imaginary people without conversation.🙏😘
Great, honest reaction! I suggest listening to the original so that you can see where David took it. It hits you in your soul. I'm very aware of the original, and people even Paul, said it was a warning that we didn't listen to. To me I see the tragedy of the disconnect, but I also see the resurrection of forgotten instruments/communication that are brought back to life and walked into the light. I see the people bringing the music/communication across the river to those who have lost their way. Which many of us can relate to and I think that's why almost all of us cry when we hear this version. Like I said, it hits your soul. Check out HOME FREE, and their cover of Man In Constant Sorrow. Acapella group, and they beatbox their instruments 100%. Then check out their other songs. They are phenomenal!
