Lyrics:
I can feel the anger building in me time and time again
I can see this world of ours is far beyond redemption
This madness has become a part of who we are
Everyone just loves… to hate
I hear voices screaming for the ones they want to die
I feel my heart rate speeding in anticipation
I think all of us have taken things a bit too far
Everybody just loves to hate
Pre-Chorus:
You’ll finally know you’re right
When there’s no one left to fight
Chorus:
Why do we love to hate
Such depravity
Inhumanity is common
Why do we love to hate
This insanity
Now embedded in our hearts
I can see a battle raging that we’re never going to win
I see the junkies fiending for their old addiction
I keep hope alive, but tell me where do we begin
’Cause everybody just loves… to hate
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
We have eyes, but we cannot see
So blinded by our own obsessions
Don’t want to face our reality
We are infatuated with aggression
Пікірлер: 722
“You’ll finally know you’re right when there’s no one left to fight.” Now _that’s_ some powerful phrasing.
This has to be one of the greatest written songs of modern times. Hate is epidemic in the world and in America in particular it’s extra bad. It’s unproductive and disgusting and really a mass mental illness. People think they build themselves up by hating but it’s not like that. You always become like that which you hate.
Disturbed really woke up and said “let’s do a sequel to Who Taught You How to Hate”
How can you not love this band .. it’s phenomenal

It's the internet. With all the great is also brought a different level of hate. The level that gets hidden face to face. Cowards
In 2015, Disturbed wrote a song asking how people learned to hate each other, stating that that isn't the way our brains naturally work. 7 years later, they write a song lamenting that people have grown to _enjoy_ hating each other in order to feed their egos. The infection in our society is getting worse, not better. How is it not Dark Messiah time yet?

It's not the love to hate but the passionate belief in one's own sense of morality which leaves one open to sophistry because of blind faith that leaves one open to hatemongers and one's own assumption... which is easier with the insecure, the egotistic, the gullible, and the other imbalanced. Those who love to hate believe they are not truly pawns of hatred but hating because of their delusions of morality, justice, and-or any kind of high-ground. So, in short, that boils down to too many people love to hate. It's eons of evil people ringing the division bell, victimizing us all. Raging against the love of hatred is like raging against sneezes and coughs as treatment for sickness. Rage against those that ring the division bell, fearmongers and hatemongers.

@@That80sGuy1972 I think we love to hate because it is easier to despise something than understand it. We are told to hate muslims because they are involved in terrorism. One of my oldcolleagues pointed out if all 2 billion of them were, there would be no-one else left alive. Try getting the Trumps of the world to get their heads around that. I was brought up to fear and hate so many groups. I realised that to be a rebel nowadays you just have to be a decent person. Respecting others has become rebellion. I like it, especially because being an old metal head, based on user name, maybe close in age, the ignorant expect the opposite.

@@SKBKER I'm not so sure. Having been around for almost 40 years and raising 3 children I've noticed empathy does not come naturally to most people. I personally think that plays a big role in society being so divided. People tend to fear and lash out at what they don't understand and if they're not attempting to understand other people who come from different backgrounds or have different opinions. Well, youre just left with anger and confusion. I think it would be easier to point the finger at someone/something else causing this problem. But we should be pointing it at ourselves. What can we do better to promote empathy and lead by example? Can we help the next generation to pause and think of others?

Dan Donegan you are always gonna be my inspiration on the guitar. Dude you piece shit together like no one else, and it's just uniquely yours. You are overlooked in a lot of ways in the guitar world but you're such a badass. More people should be talking about your riffs and solos for sure. I once drove from Southern Illinois to Mt Pleasant, MI just to see you all and I'd do it again.

It's a funny thing. Nobody mentions Dan D in generic guitarist articles, etc, but then I talk to guitarists and mention Disturbed and lo and behold, a gush of admiration for Dan's lifts and those massive open chords he uses so well. The man is a master of controlled excellence - the riffs never take over the song, the solo always complements the structure, it's always in the service of whatever feeling the band is trying to get across. Stricken for example - it would have been so easy for that glorious lift to totally overwhelm the chorus, but Donegan keeps it in control.

@@chazzthaspazz4475 Well, if lack of sympathy for other people is a problem, remember that the people that piss you off are humans too, and remind yourself of mistakes you've made, you probably wouldn't be so hard on yourself, so love them and forgive them too like you would love and forgive yourself, if they have made a mistake, correct them nicely without getting angry. Eventually, they will die, and you will die, so there's no point, we are all in this together. Anger is very hard to control, so try to avoid it entirely. Get ready for situations where you know you are going to get pissed off, like a whiny person walking up to you, or try to avoid it entirely. The strongest tactic is to remain silent when they talk, do that by taking deep breaths. Do this a lot in your free time so that you have practice. And if you can, try to deflect with humour, something that would make you laugh in a situation that pisses you off. For suffering, know that all suffering is good in some way for you, suffer long and it will set you free, only through trial do we find the strength we need. It teaches you about your mental shortcomings from which you can learn from, and take it as a challenge and staying happy as a game. Life is but a game you play afterall, we should live and learn and have fun through all of it. When people do harm to you, know that you haven't really been harmed unless you choose to feel harm and do evil in return. Take their harming as a game, try staying the same and don't let them win, the classiest payback is to not be like your enemy. These are teachings from a philosophy known as stoicism, I think they may help, I recommend the video called 22 stoic principles to start with. This stuff doesn't work immediately, but when you know what you have to do, keep going back to it, and you will get better. You already are on the right path by recognising your problems, I know you will win. Also try getting help from a professional if it's really bad. Also find some time to read philosophy, the good ones that teach you how to live life not some edgy nonsense
