Encina is back to discuss updates on her life and more on life with dissociative identity disorder (DID). We first sat down with Encina Severa in 2018 to discuss what it’s like to live with dissociative identity disorder (DID). But we didn’t get the full picture. In this series, we flesh out Encina’s full mental illness journey. Welcome to the MedCircle original series, “Encina Severa: Living with DID and Co-Occurring Disorders.”
Watch our video with Encina on what it's like to live with dissociative identity disorder (DID) HERE: • I Have Dissociative Id...
In this new series, Kyle & Encina talk about the reaction to the original dissociative identity disorder interview, more about what it's like to live with multiple personalities, and what it's like to live with other mental health disorders:
- Depression (or major depressive disorder) with mixed features
- Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
- Complex PTSD (c-PTSD)
Encina ends the series with insight into how she found the right treatment for each disorder. After watching this full series, you'll walk away with actionable advice on how to find the right mental health treatment.

I wish people would stop saying DID is rare . What is rare is the people who have it revealing it
Kyle's change in demeanor is really clear and although in the last interview with Encina he felt a bit pushy, it seems like he has done more research on the disorder and is actively being a bit more kind and compassionate in the questions he's asking and how he responds to her answers. I really appreciate that.
Encina's first interview is what sparked my interest in learning about DID
I'm impressed with how much the interviewer improved. I feel this time he's much more compassionate and knows how to formulate difficult questions while still being kind and warm.
I cried too when Minnie came out. I cannot imagine the abuse you endured to have to create Minnie. If I had a child, I would let her play with Minnie.
My mom has DID. She did an amazing job raising me and my brother. By herself I may add
She doessnt act like she has alters.
There’s so much ableism on tv…..
I despise the question of, "real or fake". This is the only mental Disorder that WE KNOW OF where individual's are accused of faking. Why in the Hell would anyone want to fake having an extreme mental disorder?! Please people, this isn't something glamorous, fun, or entertaining. It's extremely scary. Please don't say ignorant things like that. On the off chance someone is faking, they'll eventually he exposed.
I still can't believe it, I saw her first video just today and it was the reason why I subscribed to this channel!
I remember the interview with her! She is so beautiful inside and out. So glad you brought her back.
She is rocking the purple hair and eyebrows!!! It looks really good! What a great lady, so inspirational and explains everything so well
Kyle, I'm watching this right after the first one, and I can tell that you've learned a lot about how to make people with conditions like this more comfortable since last time. I commend you on that progress. 😊
For anyone looking for more on DID a couple of good channels are Multiplicity and Me, and DissociaDID. Those ladies and gentlemen are amazing!!
She seems lovely and Kyle is so warm and compassionate!
R we gonna talk about that gorgeous pupper?!
That dog is just straight vibing. Good dog
Aw, when Encina started crying at the end, I wanted to comfort and console her. I hate seeing other people cry because I want them to feel happy, I don’t like seeing others in pain. She’s a strong, resilient person and I think she’s simply wonderful. Also, I like her hair and its color. Kyle, good on you for being compassionate. I value empathy, especially in men; and I think the world needs more empathy, compassion, and understanding :0)
Encina, my heart broke when you spoke of your struggle with depression. You are so uplifting on Instagram that I had no idea. Just goes to show that we really don't know what people are going through. Sending my love, positive vibes, and prayers. I have been following you since your first interview with will continue! 🥰
