Dispersed Camping: Smith River National Recreation Area| California Redwoods ADV Ep.9
Hello There!
Welcome back to Northbound Motorcycle ADV,
In this episode we ride North of the Klamath River to discover the northern part of the park, specifically Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. However getting a spot at the campground there needs to be planned out well in advance so I will give you a camping option that I use every time I visit the North end of the park.
So take a ride with me and I’ll show you best the camping options near the park.

@@NorthboundMotorcycleADV can't wait
Three years ago I passed a CHP on the 199 going the opposite direction. I was doing 70 and certain he was gonna U-turn and come after me, so I dove into the Jedediah Smith Campground and ditched him.

That's fantastic! I hope you own a Himalayan so you can ride around on all those Forest Service roads in the area. You are gonna love it! Check out my video on the "Smith River Scenic Byway" I work up in that area often and always stop at the cafe for breakfast. Congrats on the new house and thanks for watching, My Canada trip videos will be coming out soon. Cheers! Forrest

Thanks! The Smith River NRA is full of great camping sites, all ya have to do is pick one 😎 Thanks again for watching 🍻
I can't even imagine being that close to rivers and creeks and deciding to camp where there's no water.

😂 I would agree,…my campsite was a short one minute walk to Hurdy-Gurdy Creek and could hear the creek from my campsite. There are a lot of places to camp right next to water up there. On that day all of my “go to spots” already had someone in them 😂 so I chose a spot away from people on this one so I could film in peace 😎 Thanks for watching (I’m also planning on camping up there again in the coming weeks so I’ll show you some of those spots 😎🍻)
Hoping to camp on the Smith River tonight thanks to your suggestion!

@@NorthboundMotorcycleADV no dispersed camping allowed due to fires:( I was fortunate to get one night in the Jedediah Smith State CG. It was great. The next night traveling South i wasn't so fortunate. I ended up at Navarro River Redwoods State Park off Hwy 128. It was a dump w/ no water. I was hoping to stay at Jedediah Smith on the way home but it was full so I kept going to Gold Beach and stayed at the Motel 6. Hopefully next summer we'll have less fires/smoke and I'll have more options.

@@rogermeyer860 that’s too bad about the closure and the fires, but at least you were able to get into Jedediah Smith, that’s a great campground! I’m with you, I hope next summer we will have less fires and more options for sure :) Thanks for the update!
