​@@j2fly1 Yes those bats were nasty characters! That lead bat , voiced by Billy Sheets, did a lot of voice acting for Disney over the years. He sounds a lot like Eeyore from Winnie The Pooh. His voice is also one of the 'singing statues' in Disneyland's Haunted Mansion.

@@Antoniowilsonjr2002 but the events had everyone reacting badly because he looked like a bat. So technically you’re not far off. It’s possible that they would’ve reacted differently if he’d been given bird wings vs bat wings.

I know this is supposed to a story about being happy being yourself, but it comes off as a story that says "stay in your lane, don't dream of being anything more than you are". I blame that on the way the tale was told than the overall message it's trying to present.

Exactly. Clip their wings when they’re young. Stay in your box and you will be loved. I can’t help but resenting that fairy because it was her fault. She was quite sadistic to give him bat wings. She could have given him some pixie dust so he could fly when nobody saw him. Maybe fly to the Moon made of cheese one night and bringing back some for his family- maybe they would have tolerated him enough not to shut him outside the house, then.

Ikr. Even before he got his wings, his mom and everyone else were super mean to him too. Alternatively, he could have rescued and befriended a regular old butterfly who holds him by his back and picks him up to fly. Then it would look like he has a pair of butterfly wings. He gets to do thing he wants and he makes a friend who is kind to him.

Right? Poor little guy. He even says "I want to fly like the birds" and the fairy gives him bat wings for whatever reason? Just because she knew it would give him a hard time?

Yes, she definitely resembles the Blue Fairy. She might have been the inspiration for that character's design, as Pinocchio came along in 1940, 6 years after this one.

I remember this short film,I haven't seen this since a long time ago back at the 90's.

Holy crap, I found it again after all these years! I remember my mom had a VHS with this on it (don’t remember what it was), but it was pleasant running into it again after over 20-something years.

The mouse boy got his exposed furry rear end poked by a thorn and then fell in the tub and then his mother spanked his exposed furry rear end with a tail whip and he didn't wear pants at the timeline 2:49 I'm surprised the mouse boy hugged his mother at the end of the cartoon even though she was abusive to him and made him feel embarrassed and sad by his 3 mouse brothers who laughed at him for failing to fly and getting his bottom spanked. Soon, this Silly Symphony cartoon which is my favorite cartoon will enter the public domain in 2029. I wish Disney Plus put this cartoon on it which is not available.
