The in-universe reason given in chapter 6 is that their performance was lacking bc they were tired from the overblot battle. We hear the best version, obviously, but in-game they had some missed steps when dancing or getting some notes wrong, which ultimately gave RSA the win

Prefer this song over Neige's. Neige's song did have a nice combination with an old classic kid song and modern spin. But in the end, I still feel like I'm listening to a song meant for kids. Vil's "Absolutely Beautiful" song impacts me more. It got me nodding with the rhythm as I was listening to it and at some part of the song, I felt my heart shook. Don't know how the judges were judging in the game, but I expected Neige's to be REALLY good to have beaten Vil's but all I got was disappointment.

There were no judges. It was a popularity contest masked as a song contest. We had characters pointing out how Neige was objectively worse in many aspects - the choreography was clunky, the dwarves were literally stumbling around running into each other, and it wasn't even an original song. None of that mattered because it wasn't about the song at all.

For those wondering why NRC lost, you need to reread the Pomme chapter again. Neige often trumps Vil because people can put themselves in Neige's position. He makes mistakes and has this genuine feel to him that makes you relate to him. Vil on the other hand puts on a perfect front, and goes to massive lengths to try and outperform his competition. He basically puts himself above the common man. That's ultimately why Vil realizes he's already lost upon seeing the practice performance: Neige's humble but heartfelt Heigh-ho will reach people's hearts better than the ego stroking (because remember, this is a commission for him) this song is.

Not a commission in the original JP, Vil wrote the song himself, while Neige's so-called heartfelt song was always just a remixed nursery rhyme no matter which version of the game. Not an opinion on whether or not Vil should have won, just making some things clear because the EN version fumbled with a lot of translations and as a result spread a lot of misinformation.

Bruh, the disappointment I felt when they lost... Everyone was melting over Neige's sad story with his stupid dwarfs. Both he and Vil deserved it equally, but the difference is that Vil was actually good. His group 100% should have won. I swear, I could physically feel his pain when they announced Neige the winner.

I honestly cried with Espel and Kalim. Just shows how great the writing is. They should have won and I'm not saying that just cause I'm invested in these guys. The description of Swords Academy performance was like that of a kids play. It's disgraceful that our guys went through so much and worked so hard just lose to a bunch of teen dwarfs recreating High-ho. It's like the game is saying you'll win as long as your cute! I know they say the guy won cause he's more relatable, but honestly, Vil is definitely a lot more relatable. I know I get frustrated when my hard work doesn't pay off.

I agree. The NRC boys should have won. Neige and his dwarf friends performed so terribly and clearly put zero effort into their performance. Vil and the others worked so damn hard, yet the audience voted for a crappy performance over theirs? I was invested, personally and I'm still sore about it. I know it's just a game, but it legit made me a little angry. Like, wtf. I thought the whole cutesy shit was cringe as hell. Neige is so cringe. lol

Fangirling over Vil like there's no tomorrow I'm so ashamed of myself but I love this too much

I see everyone saying this should’ve won and I believe it should’ve too. In the game a good 50% of the audience thought so too. I’m still annoyed with Rook but I understand how both sides are T_T It seems like the audience wasn’t just teens and adults who can see the effort of our boys. It seems like the vote also came from little kids and their families. Both sides worked hard even if Neige’s wasn’t perfect it was genuine. That heartwarming effort connected him with the people who are average. Vil’s beautiful spectacle was amazing enough to sway so many people As for Rook, he was objective. Even if it harsh. He literally noticed so many little flaws that he had judged it that way. For as annoyed and frustrated as I got, I admire his integrity to stay neutral (even with his obsession which Vil and him acknowledge that it wasn’t bias). This is just me though and I understand everyone’s frustration about the results… At least Vil still helped with Ramshackle

I’m trying to imagine how I would rewrite English for the sake of matching syllables and sounding natural. Won’t be able to do a literal translation on some parts though. So far all I can brainstorm are: (1) At the part that went “saiko no~ it’s showtime!” or “the best”, maybe I could just sing “Fairest of ‘em all~! It’s showtime!” (2) At a line where they “this can’t be surpassed”, I’m thinking “Can’t touch this, don’t even try!” Well, either way I’d have to revisit this every now and then!
