@@Apuyina I think it's mostly because Steve Carell hadn't learned his lines and was reading the teleprompter the whole time. That could explain why he wasn't looking in their eyes but always the same spot and why the sketch lacked some rythme and energy.

@@fullcirclerecords3120 It's extremely poorly written because it does not make clear that the reason for Carell's forgetfulness is because he is "in denial" about his wife's infidelity and the destruction of his family. And because of sloppy writing, acting, and directing, it primarily appears that the kid's are mocking a dementia sufferer. It's most likely that the writers wanted to convey that the kids are frustrated and are giving up on their dad because he continues to be "in denial" about the horrible events that have taken over his life. A theme which has always been used in SNL sketches. They also failed to follow the structure of a sketch, which should go from the more normal to the absurd. For example, at 1:03, he's "in denial" that they "replaced a cat with the dog". Which is one of the more absurd examples of his denials and would have been a good one to end on. The reason so many sketches fail is because they begin with the most absurd example and then there's no where to go after that.

I blame all the whiny bitches out there for comedy becoming shit. Pete Davidson on his own could've wrote a better skit, however, all the SJW's and PC police would have made him apologize, again, for simple jokes. I've seen Pete Davidson's early standup, before he was even on SNL. Dude is funny as shit, and usually makes fun of himself. Comedians now days have to walk on eggshells, and hope they don't offend anyone.

The truth behind the sketch is so real. Living in denial refusing to accept the truth of one's relationship with the person you love can be tough for those around you

How did this make it to #2 on trending? It wasn’t that funny or well written. And I love SNL.

L C - It’s trending because people are interacting with the video. Comments, likes and views gets something to trending. Not something good. I mean we see this with hashtags all the time. Not every hashtag is something good.

Actually, no, he's not. Steve Carell is just about as funny as this level of non-comedy. Always has been, but luckily propped up with good scripts.

I mean sure its a funny idea but nothing about this sketch made me laugh. The whole thing is "the dads an idiot" Didn't really think it was great. Didn't think it was terrible. It was just straight meh.

This sketch was written, made the initial cut at the beginning of the week, was rewritten a few times, made the second cut at mid week, survived more re writes, made it through rehearsals, and then dress rehearsals, and finally survived the cuts that they make before air time. So... well there you go.

Stephen It's dark humor, which a lot of people don't like or understand. I personally thought it was funnier than most of the skits SNL has done in the last few years. People just have different senses of humor. A lot of the "funny" skits I think are just stupid and boring.

I think it has a lot to do with how the sketch is delivered Steve carrel is great, but the new SNL cast sound like they are reading off a paper

the thing im most amazed about is that he instantly knew it was 5 am when he woke up

I watched this sketch when it aired and I still randomly think about it and get sad. It literally makes me SO sad why am I like this
