Still is! Just wish they still had the Tron pinball machine. That was the go-to for me, my brother, and my Dad

I stayed when this was still very new. My kids who were 6 and 8 loved it and we got to see Disney characters at one breakfast !! We loved watching the monorail pass over as we ate ! Thank you for taking us back to that wonderful time ! 😊❤

I love this resort and will stay there when I go down. You have to get a park side view so you can watch the fireworks from your room. So cool.

My husband and I stayed at the Contemporary on our honeymoon in 1974. We stayed a few times after that but not since purchasing DVC. BLT is one of my DVC home resorts which I will be staying at again in December 🤗 thanks for a wonderful video! I loved the opening!

I grew up at the Contemp (as we called it). My mom opened it in the Pueblo Room and continued working at Disney, moving to Cape May when the Pueblo Room closed to create Chef Mickey's, for 42 years. I could write a book about my life at the Contemporary Resort... from the Tape Art to swimming to Discovery Island (before there were alligators), drinking virgin orange dacquiris brought by the servers on the beach behind the 2 pools, and having our Homecoming Dance on the 2nd floor... so many amazing memories. Thrilled to watch with you tonight, Josh! Thanks for the memories! Edit Add: The _real_ Top of the World is where California Grill is now. We used to go up and watch celebrity singers and it was so elegant. I remember when only 20 or so people would walk onto the catwalk outside TotW (CA Grill now)... because people didn't have a clue they could go out and watch the fireworks. We also watched several rockets and Space Shuttles go up from that same catwalk. Florida being so flat, we could easily see the launches, even without binoculars. So many memories!

This is very helpful! So many times when I am going to stay at a hotel or resort, my first thought is to come to KZread and look for videos. Hope you add more to the collection - I know you have done others, but having some recent ones is helpful! I stayed at the Contemporary in May and had a theme park view room. That was great Josh! I was like 5 or 6 years old when I stayed in the main hotel and vividly remember going to the downstairs floor to the arcade to play air hockey. So much fun that resort. Someday I will go back and stay again!! This brought back so many awesome childhood memories, so appreciate it!

My niece and I stayed in the Garden rooms in October of 2009 and it was a really nice option. I wanted to treat us to a deluxe resort on the monorail since we were only staying four days, and I was able to score a great priced for a long weekend in a Garden room. The Garden buildings are right across a small walkway to the main A-frame building, so it was a very convenient but less expensive way to enjoy a deluxe resort. I highly recommend it.

Love the resort and the shopping there…we love Bay Lake

I stayed in the Contemporary last year. The food at 71 really good really and the mug is included with the price of staying in the Contemporary the rugs feel like you’re walking on clouds on the floors where you have your rooms everything right where you need it you don’t have to leave. That’s what I loved. Most the Mickey Mouse shape. Pool is amazing with two sauna pools And Mary Blair tile artwork is absolutely stunning in person I felt like a queen staying there absolutely loved this place. Never thought I’d stay there but I got a great deal upgrade from Mickey Travels and it was awesome. I did miss some of the amenities. I didn’t even know they were there.

this was suiper detailed and indepth tour, i alwaus appreciate videos where there is a ton of explnation. also love that you were able to go back and refer to a lot of older clips, thamks so much josh always appreciate all the hard work and effort ypu and jenna put in to your work.

This was an amazingly detailed tour Josh, thanks so much for sharing this! The Contemporary is one of the few resorts I’ve actually visited (resort hopping only, not yet as a guest!) and I learnt so much from this. It really is such a huge place and that convenience in being super close to MK make it high on my bucket list as somewhere I’d love to stay someday 🥰

This was our home 2009-2016. Once every year. Then we discovered the Polynesian and have stayed there almost every year since (2017-present). Side note: I really, really, really, wish they didn’t gut the actual Contemporary design in the rooms and replace it with the Incredibles

I was there back in I think 2001. We stayed at what used to be Dixie Landings and I know the name changed.

Do they still have a movie theater on one of the lower floors of the main building? I seem to remember as a kid in the late 70s watching either Bambi or Song of the South there.

I just couldn’t pull the trigger to stay here when we would never be in the hotel. Last time we canceled and booked the dolphin and used the difference to splurge on dining. Now a weekend at the poly- that’s different.

I wonder if you can hear the monorail running from your room 🤔

Hey Josh, great walk through but I personally would have liked to see the splash pad at Bay Lake included. We have 2 kids under 2 currently and we watched a bunch of videos of different resort pools and we actually booked Bay Lake because of their splash pad. Just thought others may also like to see them too.

Does anyone know when the BLT pool slide refurb will be done?

The pool area is lacking compared to other resorts. Too much concrete.

Getting a bit bored with seeing deserted hallways. Not sure I’ll watch much longer. My patience is wearing thin. So long.
