The news of his passing has really shaken me. Rest in peace, Mr Sherman, I hope you and Robert can finally play this together for Walt up there once more. We'll never forget you.

I got to meet Richard at my church (they were doing an event dedicated to him), and I got to perform "It's a Small World" with him. That was a moment to remember.

Rest in peace, Richard Sherman. I’m glad that you’re back with your brother. I hope you got my letter.
He was a genius. I miss him. I didn't find out till this morning. I'm not much of a cryer, but I cried. He gave us so much. Whether it was a phenomenon like Mary Poppins or a gentle masterpiece like Winnie the Pooh, he crafted essentially perfect music. Thank goodness that even with him gone, we have his legacy. What a lovely, kind, brilliant gentleman.
RIP sir. Thank you so much for your beautiful music, memories shared about Walt and your gift.
thank you for the joy you brought to everyone's lives 😢
The true definition of a Disney Legend and childhood composer. Rest in peace.
One of my favorite songs. You are now with both your brother and Walt now - writing songs once again - I am sure of it. Thank you Robert!
"Although you can't see it you know they are smiling" I thought of Walt at this part
Rest in peace, Richard. You brought so many magical memories and melodies to our lives. Thank you. 🙏🏼 ❤
I cry a river every time I hear this masterpiece, as Walt Disney did without fail. That lady had a heart of gold to feed those precious birds. The movie has not one bad song, and this is the best of them.

On this day, May 27, 2024. Richard S. Sherman has passed away, age 95
Thank you Sherman brothers for all the great work you've done for Walt!
Such a wonderful man who left such an amazing legacy. You'll always be my hero, Walt. Always loved you, always will.
Richard Sherman came to the arts school that I attend and it was the most amazing experience. I have never met a more influential figure.
They don’t write disney songs like this anymore💔 this is timeless and no “let it go” or “family madrigal” will ever EVER compare

I’m a bigger fan of Encanto than Frozen. But Disney can use something as magical as Mary Poppins right now. Because lately they’ve been hit and miss. So I agree
Songs that defined my childhood from the scores of Mary Poppins to Jungle Book to legendary rides like It’s a Small World The Tiki Room and so many others. What a giant and what a beautiful soul. We will continue to feed the birds in your honor.
Rip and thank you for the music.
Rest in peace Richard M Sherman

His last appearance was in the Disney 100 special.
Here I am in 2024, Richard M Sherman has passed today at age 95. I rushed immediately to the scene of Mr Banks walking to the bank to face his loyal employers. And I have to say Richard still knew how to play a piano!
2:11 That's where tears are made
Thank you sir. Thank you for everything. ❤️ May you find rest knowing you changed the world and affected the lives of billions with your music.
my hearts hurting from the intensity of the emotions just him playing this song
Your music added a unique touch of magic to so many Disney films and helped us connect with the characters on a whole new level. Your songs told their own stories and continue to speak to people of all ages. May you be filled with peace and thank you for all the joy you shared with the world.
I love that movie sooooo much ❤️
if you havent seen it. "saving Mr. Banks" is the story of the origins of Marry Poppins. i love both of these movies dearly. Walt Disneys legacy is the absolute most known in the history of the modern world. his movies transcend time and cultural barriers. what an amazingly beautiful soul.
I wish we would get more movies about the history of the people of Disney like they did for saving Mr. Banks. wouldn’t it be amazing to have a movie about the Sherman Brothers or Walt? Or the actors, imagers, animators, or voice actors during the early days of Disney?

I would want a biopic of Julie Andrews herself as well. But yes
Walt Disney is my childhood idol. He's one of the few people in this world that I admire and love so dearly. This is actually my mom's favorite song from Mary Poppins and it's great to hear Richard Sherman's voice again. We love you, Walt Disney.

Me too, I feel connected to him in some way. I can't explain it and no one understands why I love Walt, he created my 'happy place'. I have his autograph tattooed on my arm.
Walt was one of those Once In a Century kind of men.
I really can't add anything here that hasn't already been expressed. I just love the image of a late afternoon with perhaps evening shadows just beginning to stretch along the walls in Walt's office with the day having wound down with this beautiful song being sung and played to him as he sat quietly at attention taking its sublime meaning and message in. It makes me want to be in that room sitting next to him as he played.
Walt Disney may be gone but not forgotten one of his favorite songs ever by the sherman brothers still a classic to watch and listen to really appreciate you guys thanks you guys rock I'm left speechless and so will walt Disney god bless you guys thanks thanks for the memories !!❤❤😂😅 Joe
He was not perfect but he did leave a legacy that still have people cry and happy even after 100 year Rip Walt Disney 😢😢
Aw I'm so sad Richard M Sherman is gone May 25 Oh No now both Sherman are now rest in peace with Walt Disney will never seen those Disney music legends but we will never forget all those wonderful Disney Songs they have created this is broken hearted to hear this. 💔💔😭😭
While I was working at the studio, a mutual friend introduced me to Robert Sherman's son. Bobby would love to make a reservation at the studio's executive dining room using his own name which just happened to be the same as his father's. He would of course never be denied a table with the staff thinking it was one of the two Sherman Brothers coming to eat...and we got in every time! LOL!!!
on the very same Piano he used to play it for Walt on
I love this song... One of my fave Disney songs because my mother is always feeding the birds who are in our garden :)

This is obviously debatable, but I really think this is the most beautiful Disney song of all time.
Disney has come up with so many iconic songs over the years. We all know Circle of Life, Bare Necessities, Let It Go, On The Open Road, Heigh-Ho, Winnie the Pooh’s theme song, Under the Sea, Hakuna Matata, Part Of Your World, When I See An Elephant Fly, Colors Of The Wind, For A Moment, Two Worlds, It’s A Small World, Night On Bald Mountain, and their official anthem, When You Wish Upon A Star. But Feed The Birds was Walt’s favorite.

Thank you so much for posting this moving performance of a songwriting masterpiece by the master that created it, with his brother Robert. God bless Richard and Robert Sherman.

I love Walt Disney, cause his imagination and his movies inspired little children like me.😊
It is going to be in my head for the next month or two. Its been like this since I was 7 and saw Mary Poppins.
I REALLY cry inside, when i see that scene of Mary Poppins, or hear the song, because its a song that her lyrics told us that NEVER is a high cost give carity or LOVE to someone. We Will miss the Sherman Brothers, but now i Know that they are reunite together again, with Walter and the other Disney Legends, making new songs. "Gotta go, but THANKS. ON WITH THE SHOW."😥😢😭🎼🎵🎶🎵🎼🐀
😮just a real masterpiece of classic music at its very best walt Disney would be proud and amazed one of his favorite songs ever by julie Andrew to the actors and actresses who passed away my thoughts are with your family you may be gone but not forgotten still going strong I'm left speechless god bless you guys thanks you guys rock way to go !! A tribute to one of the greatist men who made most of our childhood. Walt Disney.
If Walt was still around today to see what's become of his legacy, the rage would combust.

Walt: "That'll work."
This is magical.
This song brings me to tears whenever I hear it
This is so beautiful
I have yet to hear a piano cover that sounds just like this version and I feel that’s a shame because more people should play it like this, but it’s also a treasure, because no one can make music like the Sherman Brothers
i like to think he played this for Walt when they reunited in heaven
Good job good call Walt Disney one of my favorite songs to listen to Joe
And now he can play it for Walt again
I remember this song when I first saw Marry Poppins'. This makes me sad cause the scene in the movie when they actually met the bird lady. The dad was so mean.
for the very few people who are reading this you are amazing and dont let anyone bother you so i hope this comment made your day and happy holidays!

Great man with his brother. For instance "There is a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" for the General Electrics Pavillion at the New York Worlds Fair 1964. After that they changed it to "The Best time of Your Life" even for General Electrics Carousel of Progress and then it's back to "There is a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" in Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress.
Goodbye, great, great Maestro
Amazing!
this is beauty
