All of these "budget numbers" are lies. They don't account for marketing spending or reshoot costs - which the latter is beyond costly considering how much Disney has been reshooting these movies.

My wife was a diehard Disney fan - took our kids many, many times. Their ramming the DEI agenda down our throats at the parks and on screen ruined it for her, and most everyone else I know. The final straw was 'Disney Drag Princess' day.

Disney is creatively bankrupt. They have hired activists to be creative, which is why most of their movies for the past 10 years haven't been good. They put messaging before storytelling. Disney can not be helped until they fire all of the activists in their company and get back to making good original stories. So, for now, I'll cheer on their failure. I know Tyler doesn't want to get into the politics, mostly bc he pays no attention and knows nothing, but you can't touch on these topics without getting into it.

Those Disney attendance photos looked more like they were taken during or right after the pandemic. Disney World had a drop from 2022 to 2023 in attendance, but only 15%. 15% wouldn't cause empty streets in the Magic Kingdom, just no way. I went in September of 2020 and it looked like those photos, but went again in 2021 and the crowds, even still limited to 60% capacity, were much fuller. My friend went last year in 2023 and it was back to full capacity with 1+ hour waits for most rides.

As a parent, we are done with Disney, the company used to be about Entertainment, now it is about pushing an agenda, overcharging parents, from their streaming service to their parks, top it off, they continue to release substandard movies and shows. Another victim of the woke movement; Indiana Jones was a great franchise, they were movies we all enjoyed growing up, this last movie... I remember growing up and the theme song would come on at 6 pm Sunday evening, as a family we would all sit around and watch Disney, I wish my kids could have experienced that magic.

I know Disney well... they're doing these movies by committee and overspending on talent and production. Disney needs a hard reset. People will call out the "woke" stuff, but it really wasn't an issue until it became politicized in Florida, and then they became another culture war victim.

  • @Beer_Dad1975

The "woke" stuff leads to hiring for diversity or political point scoring instead of hiring on merit - so you end up with writers and directors who often have no talent and/or no experience. The Marvels and Madame Webb are both great examples - both written & directed by directors with no experience in big budget film making - in fact, both of them barely have any experience in film at all - one having a low budget Indy film and a fairly low budget horror film, and the other a TV director of mostly low budget contemporary dramas. Then you look at who the writers for the films were... The meritocracy of the past is why we used to get so many great films. Now all you have to do is be the right identity and it doesn't matter if you aren't very good, or aren't experienced enough to deal with the project - you'll get hired - and so we get piles of trash that nobody wants to see.

@@007fredhThat's a completely fair statement, however representation of diverse peoples isn't really political. In Florida Universal spoke out against the same exact law as Disney, but because they didn't stop political contributions, they never faced the same consequences that Disney did.

I agree 100%. For a channel that says it wants to stay out of politics and culture wars, Hoovie is failing and showing his colors at the same time. Very disappointed.

I haven't been to see a movie since 2021 (Free Guy)...was pretty funny. Recent movies...BLAH. No interest. As for going to a Disney park? I don't have kids....and I have NEVER been a Disney park. Driven by Disneyworld and Disneyland. Never planning on stopping. I'm sure they are awesome...and my sister/brother-in-law are Disney park experts....I'll pass.

I am somehow happy that the superhero films are loosing traction. I was already fed up with superhero films about 10 years ago. And I won't watch another super hero film for Disney from the foreseeable future.

Can't disagree with anything said in the video except that it does not matter. Many "Normal" people are losing their jobs, and not just at Disney. I lost my job (not with Disney) due to major studios in general, and Disney in particular releasing garbage.
