I cried. I went to see it twice in one day (kids) and then cried again. It's a really poignant song for anyone that's been through deep loss and/or depression.

that's because it's just the original song pitched down, so it's still a female singing as a female character, but toned differently. your brain associates it with the original song.

It's most likely pitched down. But there are parts that actually sound fine and like a male voice. It's a high tenor voice and I've heard men who can sing like this.

Ok while I love the art? I’m torn on the singing. Namely cuz guys can have higher voices when singing vs when speaking. Though here? It’s a bit to believe. So 8/10 for singing and 10/10 for art

I can hit all of these notes without much effort. The highest note here is a C4. Most tenors should be able to hit that.

Some males can comfortably sing in the alto range. So the "male" label is still valid.
