DISMANTLING A BROKEN WARDROBE, ASSISTED BY 2 NORTH KOREAN | NIKE & JEANS | NORTH KOREA DAILY LIFE

In this video I want to share with you about one of the ASMR moments when we interacted with North Korean people. These 2 North Korean people are my friends, they often help me when I need help. You can see in this video that one of them is wearing jeans and wearing a beanie with the NIKE logo, interesting isn't it? Many people ask whether North Koreans can wear jeans, the answer is 'YES', but jeans are very unpopular in North Korea so they don't like jeans and there are no shops that sell jeans.

From a South Korean perspective, the fashion of the two North Korean men in jeans and beanies was pretty good! Testimonies from people who have escaped from North Korea say that Western fashion is popular in port cities such as Chongjin. In the past, when North Korea's trade was active, there was a time when cargo ships brought used clothing, electronics, household items, and bicycles from Japan. When Japanese products first arrive in Chongjin, port executives select the valuable products and either steal them or sell them on the black market. And secondly, products are distributed in the market in Cheongjin. The remaining 'ideologically unproblematic' products are then transported to Pyongyang for final distribution. Therefore, Chongjin becomes a city that is ahead of Pyongyang in terms of fashion. I heard that young people in Cheongjin wear skinny jeans at night! Chongjin is the most open city in North Korea, but it is dangerous to wear Western clothes during the day. The situation may have worsened in the 2020s, as the ban on Western clothing became more severe under Kim's orders.

@@Asgoga you're welcome. :) I am always interested in the lives of North Korean people and cooperation between the two countries. Because North Korea is largely cut off from the outside world, the impact of foreign products on North Korean society is enormous. Another example is trash that washed up on a North Korean beach. Various food packaging and plastic waste from China, Japan, and South Korea reach North Korea via ocean currents, and many North Korean children develop curiosity and longing for the outside world through marine waste. Conversely, North Korean trash sometimes arrives on South Korean beaches, and there are people who collect it for research. I often search the beach for it, but I can't find anything because it's too far from North Korea. One North Korean escapee tells the story of how, as a child, he found intact Japanese instant noodles on the beach. He reportedly figured out how to cook it with the help of a village man who could read Japanese, and ate instant noodles with his family. However, he says it had been adrift in the sea for so long that it had rotted, and although he was hungry, it tasted terrible. Ironically, the North Korean government hates Japan for historical and political reasons, but in North Korean society, Japanese products are like gold!

North Korea manufacturers their own jeans since the 80s, there literally videos from state television showing the factory that are made in LOL..... "Illegal" no, what is illegal is importing stuff you sell for private. Thats true in any country, you cannot just import 500 jeans to US in your bag and expect them to let you go through with it, learn some basic laws man.
