    I and my brother hunt black bear on the east coast near Oriental, NC, and we're having trouble finding a processor for the bear we harvest. The one processor we use, Lilly's Taxidermy, for deer refuses to process bear, only skinning and quartering them. Is there a decent processor on the east coast to use? Any help would be appreciated.

    Now that you mention it, AL legalized baiting last year and I did find some corn laced bear crap and a bear was actually seen by a hunter on the same plot this year. There’s just one problem with that: you can’t hunt bears in AL.

    If you’re on private land, the best way is baiting but you need to understand the rules as you have to use natural unprocessed foods and you can’t shoot a bear while consuming bait. So finding their paths to the bait and setting up on them is the only way that I know of. If on game lands, there is no baiting so it’s straight up woodsmanship. Lots of travel time and scouting. Can be a long endeavor. I personally have never done it but from all accounts that I hear it is difficult. That country is thick where they live.

    Do you think coon hounds or bloodhounds are better for hunting

  • @CarolinaALLOUT

    @CarolinaALLOUT

    Жыл бұрын

    My vote would be for coon hounds. Today's breeding of blood hounds is more for tracking and their looks(long ears, droopy faces, etc.) than hunting. We personally don't know anyone who has blood hounds for hunting. Not saying there aren't any out there but hunters that I know of that have these hounds use them for finding shed antlers or downed deer. Hope that helps!
