Did my heads a while back. All the front end ancillaries were off and on like a hors nightie. Nipped an o ring refitting a heater pipe and could’nt work out where the hell the drip was coming from. Running down the valley and dripping down over the gearbox. At least it gets faster each time you do it😅

If all the bolts come out it is not such a bad job, but those secondary air injection pipes were a bitch!

Just think of the Satisfaction you will have once its all back together and you get to take it for a drive, and then that little light will flicker back on. Jokes aside that looks like a pig of a job. Best of luck mate.

If it were not for getting the wretched engine mount nuts off and flexplate bolts out - it would be simpler to take the engine out

What an orrible job, I have just spent two days mucking about with stag cam chains thinking that was the worst job ever, and then you throw that at us. I think I would have dragged it up the common if you get my drift. Looking forward to part two. 👍

Mike having done a few of them my self I now tighten the intake manifold tight to the heads. Dont know if you found some of the manifold bolts below torque when removing them? Use a good quality silicone sealer to coat the rubber end pieces that sit on the block before installing the tin gasket on top. I also copper grease the intake bolts. The coil packs rarely give trouble however the leads can give missfires .Whats the code on the check engine light. Engine is sludgy on the rocker shafts. They are a dirty engine anyway . Youll see 1/4" sludge in the oil pan.

The more I watch videos of expert mechanics working on engines it becomes obvious that the people who design engines and cars never have to work on them! Hope it’s worth it in the end Mike. Just looked up Prossers Middlesbrough. Looks like the are still in business.

Was so glad mine never had SAI. Total ball ache changing coil packs even then. Got rid of mine after the inside fuse box went. Gave same symptoms as dead CKPS. Would turn over but not start. Had to hunt quite a while for a replacement. None new so went 2nd hand. Hated having to get to right hand valve cover, same for RRC. Pipes over everything you want to get to. Feel for you on this one.

Yea those old plastic bits get really fragile after 20 years. I had to replace my air filter box and the section of the tube because it was all cracked up and I had to replace the overflow coolant tank as well because it started to crack and leak.
