It's another writing experiment!! Shout out to my patrons for choosing this challenge and actually getting me out of the house lolol. Time to see if the library, coffee shop, or my own home is my most productive writing spot!
☟↓ QUESTIONS FOR YOU BELOOOOOW! ↓☟
D I S C U S S I O N Q U E S T I O N S :
Where's your favorite place to write? Where's your favorite place outside your home? (...if that's a different place!) Is your favorite also your most "productive"?
What makes a great writing spot for you? Is it ease of access, ability to eavesdrop, complete silence?

My most productive place to write lately has actually been...on the floor? Sitting against this one spot on my bed, facing the wall, with my laptop sitting on top of a trash can for better height. I have no idea why it works but every time, I'm far more productive! It's like putting myself in writing time out!

For me, its in my car. I have to get away from all distractions. I just drive to a nearby carpark, nothing but my laptop and some coffee and just sit in the passenger seat and there is literally nothing to do but write. This has made me so much more productive :)

I used to write in the library before the panini. At my age, I feel too ... vulnerable?... at a coffee shop alone. But now, I don't want to be apart from the dogs. LOL Winnie is 16 and blind. Woody is 11 which is ancient for a sheltie. And Kobie is just too adorable to leave behind. LOL. Love the video. ❤❤❤

The public library I work at allows up to 200 items checked out at one time. A lot of new patrons are really surprised to hear that when I sign them up for cards. They are even more surprised when I say that we have about a dozen people at our branch that regularly hit that limit.

Caffeine takes about 15-60 minutes to hit your system (I just looked it up) which is actually about what I thought it did and relies on how quickly your metabolism works. This information came from the sleep foundation. Also it is good to note that people with ADHD have Sleep problems with a delay of their internal circadian rhythm system, this is also affected by caffeine and so if you have ADHD you might actually be more tired with caffeine and have more energy in the evening/night time. Suggest hours of sleep are about 2am to 10am for those who suffer from this particular problem.

I feel like I write the best in my local Barnes and Noble cafe, mostly because that's where I do most of my writing, but I think my second best location is my local library. It has quiet cubbies that are Star Trek themed, which is really cool.

I love writing at cafes. It probably isn't my most productive, but sometimes I think I get higher quality out of it. I recently discovered one that *is* possibly my most productive location, but it only works early Friday mornings because the vibe is absolutely perfect. It's a small coffee shop with fantastic coffee and a handful of people show up to work that morning, plus a pair of older ladies who chat softly in the corner. It's just really consistent low-level noise and I love it. I usually just write at home, but anytime I can meet up with people who are also working that will be my most productive. My best friend is an artist and when she's in town we'll get together and work at a few cafes -- I write while she draws on her tablet. We work in sprints and it is perfection. (Body doubling is fantastic for ADHD focus) Edit: typo

Coffee shops for me can be hit or miss. I have a great spot in my town, but I have to bring noise canceling headphones to drown out all the chatter or I cant work. Ive just learned to look at my productivity on a weekly basis rather than a daily basis. Writing from a coffee shop 1 to 2 days a week seems to be the perfect frequency to keep me focused and excited 😊

I love writing at cafes -- but writing at cafes does not like me. For my brain to work I really need to be in a familiar setting with no noise that I can't control. Even though the vibes of a cafe are amazing, I never write as much as I do when I'm at my desk at home. My FAVOURITE place to write though is my grandparents' cottage, which is right on the edge of a river. Writing there. in the morning, with the windows open and only hearing the sounds of water and birds -- amazing. Absolute creativity overdrive

It is so funny as someone who lives in Michigan hearing that because summer is approaching you *don't want to* be outside as much. Like, I forget just how hot it can get in certain locations. I hear summer and am like "woohoo! outside time!" though sometimes even Michigan summer gets too hot for me because I like cooler weather. Ahem, anyway. Sorry for rambling, but awesome video! I love all the stats. I think my favorite place outside of the home to write is a cafe. I need to venture out and do that more before school gets out for my kiddos. I also think I am going to make more of an effort to write outside once it warms up again. I've got a nice deck with a wonderful view of a pond and woods.

favourite place to write, on the prom or the beach (by hand in a notebook), not necessarily the most productive and I can be distracted by people watching....but the sound of the sea is most relaxing. Alternatively at home in the garden or on my laptop in the wee hours of the morning when there are no other distractions.

I wasn't able to guess your area of the USA from your accent. The central library in Birmingham, UK has 5 floors and so many books, I can't control myself to write. My local tea and coffee shop is a Victorian-themed parlour, even the waitresses are dressed up. The customers are mostly older ladies who love talking and I get nothing done. Home it is.

I love going to cafés for just about everything but drafting. Brainstorming, outlining, editing, journaling, writing excercises, social writing events -- cafés are great for all of that. But I've had to accept that I need to draft at home. A lot of that is because I need consistency when I'm drafting. I have a specific ✨spot✨ for drafting and when I'm in that spot, my brain can slide back into the book. But part of that is also just an unfortunate combination of needing silence to write and typing VERY loudly. Once I've found a spot quiet enough for me to concentrate, if I try drafting there I'll ruin it for anyone else who's looking for silence. I've given up on libraries for that reason lol, I've been shushed one too many times. Even when I was handwriting 💀 I'm just unconsciously very chaotic and loud when I'm in a flow state.

At home I set up wherever I feel like. Desk, dining table, bed, couch, wtv. I think I'm most productive on the couch. I love going out but 1. it's always expensive (whether it be coffee, parking, treating myself, driving for 3 hours for fun, wtv) 2. I seriously use the bathroom like once an hour and I feel anxious leaving my stuff out 3. the library workstation set ups are so NOT feng shui and I feel SO anxious. I don't think I'm that productive when I go out and about, but I have noticed I'm a bit more outgoing with my creativity when I do.

I think it helps to have multiple writing areas (I'm still working on them. ) Why I'm not writing right now. All the big authors have that kind of set up from what I have seen so far. I will have one area for building scenes up from M&R units etc or planning - and another for re-drafting etc. I have my bike for writing on the road to get out etc.. Lots of coffee shops at the beach here, but the boardwalk works best for me overall. It depends on my mood each day what works best for me. I figure by the time I finish a manuscript the robot A.I programs will take all the author output. LOL...

When my husband and I were looking for where we wanted to move to, San Antonio, Texas was on my husband's list. The heat was what kept it off my list, I'm hot in 30 degree weather/50 when pregnant. I go out on "outside of the house writing sessions" and I used to go to the Apple Bees for happy hour wings, now since we moved, I gone on a couple at BWW on Tuesday or Thursday for wing deals. I'm more productive with boneless wings because I can eat them with a fork. I should do an experiment where I compare word counts and times.
