Discovering The Jewels Of The Golden City Of India | Things To Do In Jaisalmer | Desert Camping

If you have watched the trailer of my Jaisalmer trip then this video is the full version of my trip. I had always wanted to stay in a camp under the sky watching stars. This time I had fulfilled this wish amidst the great Thar desert with my 5 friends.
Jaisalmer is known as the golden city of India and this city has the only living fort of India namely the Jaisalmer Fort . This fort is a UNESCO world heritage site. Around 5000 people live inside this fort. There is a famous Jain Temple inside the fort which attracts many tourists due to it's architecture.
There are many restaurants where you can have a taste of the local Rajasthani food. We had tried dal baati and churma in a rooftop restaurant from where a beautiful view the Jaisalmer city can be seen.
We stayed in a hostel or dormitory called Moustache. It was my first experience of staying in a dormitory. It costed 700 INR per person for a night in this hostel.
This hostel provides you a beautiful trip and camping experience in the Thar desert @2200 INR for a night.
On the way to the Thar desert we visited Kuldhara village. This village was established in 13th century but due to some unknown reasons the villagers left the village in the 19th century. Since then it has become a haunted place and only the remaining of the village can be seen now.
We witnessed an oasis while going to our camping ground . It was no less than a miracle to witness an oasis amidst this barren land.
After these two sightseeing experiences, we finally reached the starting point of our camel safari. After 40-45 min of camel safari we finally reached the camp site. I couldn't hold back my excitement and started running all around the sand dunes. I witnessed the most beautiful sunset ever here. We had tea and pakoda in the evening. I made a lot of new friends there. Many of the travelers were doing solo trip. Everyone of us gathered around the bonfire and enjoyed local folk music and Rajasthani food. After some time of star gazing we had slept for the night.
6 of us woke up early in the morning to witness the colorful and beautiful sunrise. After having our breakfast in our camp, we were ready for the last camel and jeep safari. Jeep safari was really exciting and thrilling.
Finally we came back to our hostel Moustache .
We started the second day by having some local cuisine like dal baati and churma. I really loved the food.
On the second day , our first destination was Patwon ki Haveli. It was built by a merchant named Guman Chand Patwa for his son. It took almost 60 years to complete the first haveli. The Jaisalmer fort can be seen from the rooftop of this haveli.
Then we visited Gadisar lake. A lake which was made for the people of Jaisalmer city by their kind in 1156. A light and sound show takes place in the evening at this lake. This show showcases the history and glory of the Jaisalmer city.
