Discovering the Dunes: Full Length Recorded High School Program

Join State Park Interpreter Francesca at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area to learn about the dynamic dune habitat. Students will learn how coastal sand dunes are formed through geological processes including the rock cycle, weathering and erosion. Various plant and animal species have incredible adaptations to be able to survive in this harsh habitat. Along the way, students will learn about how environmental scientists at the park are monitoring and protecting endangered species, including the Western Snowy Plover and the California Least Tern.
At the conclusion of this program, students will be presented information about career opportunities available here working for California State Parks, including law enforcement, interpretation, maintenance and administration.
