Discovering the beauty of my racial identity | Evelyn Nagy | TEDxStroudsRun

My skin color made me feel like I didn’t belong. Why? This talk is about my journey in realizing that being different is beautiful, and my roots are special. It's a gentle push to looking deeper into who we are as people instead of making harmful, limiting judgments based on skin color. My race doesn’t need defining.

Beautiful story Evelyn. Thank you so much for sharing. To confidently be yourself and learn and grow at your best possible rate requires a culture and environment that reflects you in countless ways. I believe our world is finally coming around to the great imperative that we must all learn to recognize, respect, and represent our differences. Different is beautiful.

Your story is incredible. Evelyn, you are brave, courageous, and deeply beautiful. I am proud of you and happy for you and I am filled with joy because I know you. I am filled with joy because I went to school with you. You, this person who got on that stage and tossed your thoughts, emotions, and identity out to Mother Earth and Father Universe, to be perceived however it may by the listener. Brave enough to not be concerned with the perception of others, but to simply extend your intent of being accepting of your self. I, yes I, personally KNOW Evelyn Nagy, and for this I am honored. I love you.

Thank you friend, this is a late response I know. It has taken me this long to feel brave enough to read comments. Thank you.
