Sorn posted a vlog or two of those hangouts, and while she could no problem show Minnie since they were both from the same label, Lisa was voice only because YGE didn't want her to appear on camera outside of company-approved content.

Hann (Alone) and Hwaa do sound similar cause they are connected. Hann was their first comeback and only a single and later down the line they released the album I Burn with Hwaa as a title that's sort of a continuation of the story. There is even a song in there called "Hann (Alone in winter) that plays on the same melody pattern from Hann (alone) and it's so much darker it's amazing. I definitely recommend listening to that album cause it's full of masterpieces, especially fan favourite Dahlia.

I love Yuqi's voice too.. its so unique and different ..such a breath of fresh air. You have to check out her solos Giant and Bonnie & Clyde

Idle was formerly a six-member group. Soojin, the main dancer blonde that you liked in the 1st couple, was pushed by Cube Ent. after false bullying allegations. I miss her a lot, though I still love Idle.

Soojin was my bias, I’m still not over her leaving. I’m glad you noticed her here. But as for song recs: Don’t Text Me, LION, Uh Oh and Put It Straight.

You mentioned that you enjoyed Yuqi's voice and I wanted to mention that she has two Solo song(Giant and Bonnie & Clyde) if you ever wanted to check them out for the channel or on your own time.

G-Idle is one of the groups where I can't pick what my favorite song is. I love them

These girls have some stellar besides: MAZE, Put it Straight (nightmare version is my personal favourite), LOST, DAHLIA, VILLAIN DIES, LIAR, and ALREADY are ones I come back to a lot. Also Yuqi (oo-gi pronounced) is the vocalist with the deeper voice and she has 2 solo songs that are both in English

the blonde girl in Oh My God was the Main Dancer, she's the former member and also my bias 😭 her name is Soojin

Uh-oh is one of my faves of theirs. So sassy, you should check it out if you get the chance. Also, Soojin (the blonde one in the first dance practice) was the one who left. It was pretty messy and sad and a lot of people think Cube did her dirty. The girls allude to their upset with the situation in Tomboy and other tracks on that album. Oh! And a couple of the members (Miyeon and Soyeon) have been in this group K/DA which is for League of Legends and the songs are actually super good. As for B-sides, I really like $$$ and Blow Your Mind.

Their B-sides are so good. For vocals I highly suggest Put It Straight from the I Made album, it’s one of my favourites that really showcase their vocals. Also HANN (Alone in winter) from I Burn, it’s basically a sequel to HANN (Alone) and they don’t hold back there either (except Soyeon who didn’t give herself any parts in that song).

There’s a reason for the similarities you mentioned for HWAA and HANN in terms of melody and choreo: because they are series depicting the story behind a famous Korean poem “Azaleas” by Kim Sowol kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z3ibypOMZNO_lrQ.html (8:20) The story is about even being abandoned by significant ones and being left alone, the poet accepts the fact and resentful feeling. The poet refuses to cry, and decides to cover the wounds/traces with petals of Azaleas. (Azaleas is often symbolized as “resentment” in Korean culture). Soyeon actually suggested that these 3 songs should be listened in the following order when releasing I Burn album: 1. HANN (meaning “resentment” AND “ONE” written as “一”, interpreted as “alone”), 2. HANN (meaning “resentment” AND “COLD”, written as “寒”, interpreted as “alone in winter”), b-side in I Burn 3. HWAA (meaning “fire” AND “flower”, written as “火” and “花” individually). The title for these 3 songs all contain 2 meanings. And you can see more wordplays in the lyrics of these 3 songs referring the poem. The choreo are very imagery (very obvious for “fire” and “flower” in HWAA, “wind” in HANN) with help of some modern dance, which is very effective to setting up the aesthetics.

I think many people have forgotten these two bangers, 'For You' and 'Light My Fire'. These two are the only Japanese songs that aren't remade, and they hit differently. The sound is completely different from their Korean discography. Also, it doesn't sound like those typical Japanese songs that sounds like KPOP sung by Koreans. I highly recommend listening to these two!

There is a minute or so long clip of the 2 voices you loved Minnie and Yuqi singing acapella duet of scared to be lonely that you have to see!!! They were on a variety show I forget which one but it's easy to find ans it's heaven to the ears

As a b-side, I like "I'm the Trend". You can really feel it's not produced by Soyeon but by Minnie and Yuqi

Soyeon was in Produce 101, she was later on Unpretty Rapstar where she dressed up in her produce uniform to show that she was created by survival shows! she then did a Diss Rap of an older girl that had the older girl do a double take and completely fall apart!

Yuqi has the deep voice... her voice is SUCH a standout in an industy that caters mostly to tenors. She had two solo songs last year that were in my top ten (well, my non-NCT top ten 🥴 too good of a year for them, literally needed their own list)... but if you want to hear her in full, check out 'Bonnie & Clyde' and 'Giant'. Bonus, they're both in English. Idle has quite a few English versions of their songs that are just as good as the originals, which definitely isnt always the case. The way I started listening to them was when I found the English version of 'Latata' randomly.

Based on your stated tastes, some B-side recommendations that are suitable for reactions: Put it straight (halloween version dance practice) = you don't want to get blocked for the other versions Hann (alone in winter) = to complete the Hann + Hann + Hwaa trilogy Lion = the single from Queendom Dahlia = to get a sense of Minnie's writing style. Apart from Soyeon, Minnie has written a lot of B-sides so you will encounter her distinctive "sound" as well if you delve into their albums

If you are curious of their b-sides, here are a few recommendations: -Lion (Queendom single, has an MV) -Put It Straight (the Queendom live is EPIC) -Every b-side in their "I Burn" mini (Moon, Dahlia, Hann Alone in Winter, etc.) -Dollar$$$ (idk how it's written but yeah) I agree that their sound changed drastically in Tomboy. I've observed that besides the melodies, the drum patterns Soyeon used pre-Tomboy has a "reggaeton" feel too it (very prominent in Latata, Hann, Oh My God's prechorus, Dumdi Dumdi). Ngl I was lowkey getting sick of it and thank goodness Tomboy came around. ☺️☺️☺️

Watching their mvs again with a new reaction/perspective made me nostalgic and solemn. I'll never get back that ot6 dynamic with Soojin and the others (I know her and Shuhua were closest out of the group). I won't get to see her in a group as apart of the center/face of the group (not official but I think many would agrre that her and Soyeon were the centers), and I won't see her dance with members as a collective that create images. If she does anything it will be solo work or maybe acting -if she still pursues the industry- and it just won't be the same anymore. All of this because of some scandal that was intentionally released to harm her and stop her success. It's not just her bc we've seen it done to so many, especially female idols.

I may be late to the party but if you havent yet, might i recommend a few of their "ballad" type of songs? Hear me (b side, first album), help me (OST for "her private life"), for you (japanese album BUT they do have a live performance korean version). Also, they all have done solo work including Soojin who left, and except Shuhua who hasn't done any solo yet. Ill be checking out more of your gidle reactions!

B-side recommendations? Oh boy. 🪴 “MAZE” from their 1st EP (debut) “I am” (2018) (there’s a performance for it, too) 🪴 “Blow Your Mind” from their 2nd EP “I made” (2019) 🪴 “Maybe” from their 3rd EP “I trust” (2020) (idk why this song makes me so emotional) 🪴 “DAHLIA” from their 4th EP “I burn” (2021) (this is more of a fan favorite) 🪴 “VILLAIN DIES” / “ALREADY” from their 1st studio album “I NEVER DIE” (2022) I’m fairly certain that every track they released had at least one member’s involvement except “Hear me” from “I am” which is a typical ballad they would give every female artist imo. They suppressed YUQI’s deep voice in this one. If you want a ballad-ish song they were involved in, I recommend “Put It Straight” from “I made” and read the lyrics. The performance on Queendom is great and encapsulated the meaning, but it’s, well, the “nightmare version” so it’s more dramatic.

As many here have said. Thier Queendom performances were amazing. the remix of their B-side "put it straight" Nightmare edition is really good . Also Oh My God is one of their best MV's I think you would like Uh-oh a lot as well.

Idle is my fave gg of all time. Soyeon not only is a amazing rapper, vocalist, and dancer, but she's an outstanding lyricist, composer and producer and she's wrote every song you played today. As for B-Sides: Say No/Put it Straight There's two versions the original and nightmare. If you're going to only watch one, the nightmare version (full. w/o commentary) from Queendom is the best. But, honestly? It's really interesting to listen to the vanilla one first then the nightmare version to see how Soyeon transformed the song. Dahlia (A song by Minnie) is really good Luv U (it has a cute choreo and the song is fun) Villain Dies (I loved this song a lot) Maze is good if you want to hear the vocals a lot Never Stop Me (closer to Tomboy than their earlier stuff, but it's really amazing) If you're willing to delve into to solo stuff, Soyeon's Weather off her solo album is amazing.

I feel like their single best b-side is Put It Straight. The delivery and production is very simple, but the delivery of the two TRULY captures and conveys the emotion behind it. I’d avoid “the nightmare version” rendition of it, whilst entertaining (their Queendom performance of it is still top class) it kind of disrupts the listening experience of it’s not the album track.

Soyeon writes and produces their music. Incredible talent. Check out mv, Uh Oh.. made me a fan!

(G)I-DLE strikes me as a spiritual successor to 4Minute. Not a slight in any way, the later stuff by 4Minuite was great, and I'm glad to see it continue.

My fave Gidle b-sides is really just all the other songs on I Burn. 🥰 For me they're the 1st 4th gen girl group because they really lead the shift away from girl crush and into more bright(but not cute) concepts and experimental concepts. They 've been writing and producing for themselves since day 1 and that's a part of their legacy that isn't acknowledged. It's so rare for a girl group to have any say in their music and here they are with their main rapper as an important part of their writing and production. 😭 I'm not a fan of their last album but I do really love Gidle and wish they were given their flowers more often. Yuqi, whose voice you really liked, has a single album that's worth listening to. It has two songs, Bonnie & Clyde and Giant, and they're both in English. She did a live stage for them on Show Champion that is my favorite special stage this year(Purple Kiss's Blueming stage is a very close second!).
