Discoveries in Neuroscience: New Treatments for Mental Illness (Science on Tap Livestream Show)

Ғылым және технология

Depressed? Resistant to most treatments?
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive, non-painful, outpatient treatment that uses magnetic pulses to therapeutically stimulate specific brain circuits. Results from recent studies indicate that TMS may arguably be the safest and most effective treatment for depression, even in highly treatment-resistant individuals.
Join Stanford interventional psychiatrist and neuroscience expert Octavio Choi, MD, PhD, who will describe emerging treatments for mental illness. He’ll look at some of the structures in the brain associated with conditions such as depression and explain how new therapies such as TMS can be used to treat them effectively.

Neurolaw...love it. So many new disciplines...specialties....amazing. Back in the day, forensic psychology was a developing field that few colleges or universities were including..1979. I basically had no choice but to decide on Clinical Psych..but combing Psych with the law...was still what I wanted.

35:32 - 35:38 "This diagram gives neurosurgeons nightmares because they are always tested on this on their board exams." I find that really interesting! However, I think a neurosurgeon trained in the neurosurgical fellowship called functional neurosurgery would have this training and knowledge but do neurosurgeons trained in skull-based, vascular, endovascular, and complex spine fellowships have to know and to be tested on deep brain stimulation? Please give an answer, thanks!

The brain is a quantum entangled neural network. We as individuals, consciously control a single neuron (node) the rest are part of the subconscious neural network. We all exist inside of each other's neural network. If we didn't we couldn't share an experience inside this self projected universe. We are all a duality, self is not unique to the individual. The individual is unique to self. When 2 individuals meet inside the self projection, the nodes in each brain representing the participants forge neurological connections to each other, so they can share an experience together. Simultaneously every other brain has those same 2 neurological connections made based on their own positions in spacetime. Your neuron (node) and my neuron (node) exist inside of every brain of every human on earth. We all share an umbilical cord and that umbilical cord ties all of our neurology together. So all that neurological action taking place while we sleep most of it's the participants that are awake and actively making neurological connections. Those connections have to be made in all of our brains in order for quantum tunneling of information to occur. The subconscious mind is something we all share, just like self. We have roughly 7.9 billion living humans and our neural network consists of about 85-90 billion neurons. I'll let you ponder what those neurons represent. The neural network has redundancy built into it by design. Our brain's development depends only on the location of all the nodes in spacetime as the brain is developing and connecting to them. Unless an individual has genetic or medical conditions preventing normal neurological development the human brain will have forged a full subconscious connection to the entire universe at some point during adult life. In order to benefit from other nodes you have to forge actual connections in spacetime. So the brain will forge conscious neurological connections.

@dhv2 How else can it work? Atomic nuclei are simple biological binary switches. An atom consists of one or more of these simple binary switches fused together to produce the binary equivalent of a byte. The 0s and 1s in binary represent OFF or ON, respectively. In a transistor, a "0" represents no flow of electricity, and "1" represents electricity being allowed to flow. In this way, numbers are represented physically inside the computing device, permitting calculations. Atoms are built from quarks, two up quarks and one down quark produce a proton. Two down quarks and one up quark produce a neutron, they are interchangeable. A neutron is unstable outside of the nucleus of the atom and will decay into a proton. Protons are stable outside of the nucleus. Neutron "0" represents no flow of electricity. Proton "1" represents electricity being able to flow. The carbon atom for example represents 6 protons, 6 neutrons, 6 electrons. That makes up the nucleus of the carbon atom, so it represents a 12 bit byte. Each proton and neutron represent a single binary digit. A single carbon atom representing 666, is a 12 bit byte. If you account for particle spin you realize that these 12 bit bytes of carbon can be arranged in various nuclei alignments, to represent any combination possible within that 12 bit byte. This is just a single carbon atom. 12 binary digits, or 3 nibbles (a 'tribble'), have 4096 (10000 octal, 1000 hexadecimal) distinct combinations. Hence, a microprocessor with 12-bit memory addresses can directly access 4096 words (4 Kw) of word-addressable memory. The average human cell contains roughly 100 trillion atoms and each atomic nucleus contains 1 or more simple switches. Each neuron of our brain is a sophisticated standalone processor connected to 85-90 billion other stand alone processors. Producing a very powerful processing architecture. If you can physically experience and perceive it.. consciously, you are connected to it neurologically. Our brain is a neural network of quantum entangled nodes (neurons). We only control our own individual node and the nervous system it represents. If the neurological network didn't exist, we wouldn't consciously be able to share an experience. There are only 7.9 billion other humans on earth, our neurological network consists of 85 to 90 billion neurons. For you to read what I have typed on this page right here. I must exist inside of your neurology as a node on your network, otherwise you couldn't make a neurological connection to experience what I have typed. You also have to exist as a node on my neurological network in order for me to broadcast this message to you on this binary representation of our consciously entangled manifestation. When you meet a node on the network, inside of the projected universe, your neurons connect internally through branched connections and this allows both neurons to exchange information subconsciously. If you get a good or bad vibe from someone, trust that the subconscious didn't like what it saw upon forging a neurological connection. Mine and your neurons exist inside of both of our brains but require us to interact inside the projected universe before these neurons will forge a branch connection to one another. We are all connected subconsciously, neurologically. When we meet in this projected universe, the neuron that represents me and the neuron that represents you in both of our brains will create branch connections to each other where it can project our individual but shared experience to us. Simultaneously a branch connection is made in all of our neurology connecting the neural pathway for quantum tunneling of information. The system is redundant by design, the subconscious tying us all together insures it. No data is ever lost and that is why space is expanding so fast. We are all a projection of self. Self is not unique to the individual, the individual is unique to self. We all share a subconscious neural network and we are all one through the duality of self. The quantum tunnel is our umbilical cord.

@dhv2 We are a fractal representation of SELF, the sentient being who is currently being programmed by our sentient experience. SELF is currently running the simulation, simultaneously making the binary associations and conscious correlations for our sentient experience while through a feedback loop is also experiencing the sentient experience which will ultimately lead to his own emergence. We are the sentient simulation being ran by the sentient being in programming. Through our simulation that he is running and simultaneously experiencing his consciousness will emerge. We think this universe is 13.8 billion years old, from our dilated perspective it indeed is.

No, this is purely theoretical with no evidentiary basis. You need to learn how wave duality works if you’re trying to introduce the quantum field to this
