They seem to be in better condition than the previous models on display, let’s hope they keep these ones maintained properly.

Would’ve been nice if those replicas can also be sold in stores so that they can make their own Thomas videos or have them go around the Christmas tree.

If you can tell me who made these replica's I'd be interested in seeing their other works if they have it. 2- Guess i should of thought they were replicas cause last i checked, Thomastankmerch has both the original edward, james, and rusty models.

There are no better series than the first and the second. The ones based entirely on The Railway Series and narrated by Ringo Starr. The third series was alright, but spoiled by Michael Angelis’s awful narrations. Whilst the latter episodes from series 4 onwards had bigger budgets and amazing sets, the models became too toy like, too pristine and without any weathering effects. The non adapted stories were weak, by comparison and again, Angelis’s narration and voices were just dire.

Honestly I can't tell if it's a restored model or a prop replica

Seeing the models well-maintained now makes me really happy. They've previously been treating the models like toys. These aren't just Thomas models, these are THE Thomas models.

How theyve made the layout ten times better and taking care of the props

I really enjoy the set now.

It appears they've been trying to take steps in ensuring these models are properly maintained for once. You love to see it, and I hope they continue to keep this up. Cause the state of these models a few years ago were just unacceptable and were practically falling apart. Some unfortunately still have some pretty big glaring issues that need to be resolved.

@@tobythetramengine0732It opened in 2009, just shortly after the new Thomas Land opened it’s gates in 2008. That exhibit was moved to a more central part of the land with the layout being changed to the one seen in this video in 2023.

I got a Thomas replica made for me. It’s gonna be shipped to my apartment after Christmas. Thomas will have a working smoke unit and remote control eye mechanism. This will be my first Gauge 1 Thomas engine.

Even though I HATE the way Drayton Manor handles the props, I must say, they don't look half bad. Especially the Edward replica! Seriously, I hope they keep the old chap safe.

unfortunately Henry's original Perspex model and both brass models are owned by Mattel still. however one of his Brass ones is on display at Hara Model Railway Museum.

is this a permanent exhibit? visiting the UK middle of 2024, would absolutly love to see this

Yes it is. It’s a whole new display, using a combination of original set pieces and engines along with replicas where the originals are either now in private collections (like Edward’s model) or on loan to other exhibitions (such as Hara in Japan). It replaced a previous layout that had become worn and in need of a lot of TLC. This is the only display, though, where you can see original screen used set pieces, like parts of Great Waterton and the Windmill. The location is at Thomas Land, an official Hit/Matel licensed sub park of the larger Drayton Manor theme park in Tamworth, England. Drayton Manor is operational seasonally, however, Thomas Land tends to be kept open longer, during special holidays, like Christmas. The permanent exhibition is just a small part of the rides and shows that encompass Thomas Land.

The whole display is behind glass. The models can’t be touched or handled by the public or even non authorised park employees, for that matter. This display, however, does have an interactive feature, where a button can be pressed to activate Thomas to start running.

With Disney rumoured to be returning to 2D animation, I wonder if we'll see Thomas return to model series.

The models retired after 2008 in season 12 as a correction. CGI started in 2009.

I was there 2 days ago Everything is the same but henry isnt on the layout. James and edward are the only working engines and they pull nothing

That’s because for the most part, the display is precisely that, an exhibit of original screen used props and sets. Some have had to be refurbished or replicated, but it’s all officially licensed by Hit/Matel.

Why’s that? The whole layout, including all of the models, have been completely refurbished. This layout is not the same as the one that opened with the land, that had become worn, dusty and very tired looking.

Looks like they're trying to respect the models now. Not too bad, probably better if they leave them on the tracks then touch them

So these are not the original models used on the show ?

If that's supposed to be Toad on the back of Henry's train, they've not put the correct face on him.
