DISCOVER the Salt Lake Temple | Facts and Symbols of the Temple

Discover lesser known facts, history and the deep symbolism behind the stunning façade of this beautiful edifice.
Positioned on Salt Lake City's center block, known as Temple Square, the spires of the Salt Lake Temple rise amid downtown high-rises and super malls. Sharing the block are the Tabernacle, home of The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square; and the Gothic-style Assembly Hall. East of the temple is the masterfully landscaped Main Street Plaza, complete with reflecting pool. Beyond the plaza is the Church's world headquarters, known as the Church Office Building, and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

My husband is blessed to be working on the electrical of the Salt Lake temple. It's amazing to him and me how the pioneers were inspired to leave gaps in the structure for electrical pipes to run through. The pioneers would have had no use for them and not known what they would have been needed for. It's quite miraculous.

Good video. Very informative. However, I noted that the sun stones shown (6:19 - 6:27) are actually those found on the Nauvoo Temple. The Salt Lake Temple's sun stones were designed as simple round discs, each with 40 rays of light.

So many temples announced in recent years... To help the work go forward We need to be faithful in paying our tithing and our fast offerings. We as members also need to pray for the temples in the announced areas that they might have any opposition removed, and a spirit of peace prevade, and that the temples will be built quickly. We can do much through prayer, service, and donating rather than just "waiting" for the temples to be built. And most importantly we need to attend the temples and strive to fully live up to the covenants that we make in those temples. Then will the blessings of "great power and glory" be poured out upon the Saints and the Temples will fulfill their purpose.

Thank you for your hard work. I am interested in what the inside of the temples were like at first. What did they use for lighting before electricity? I assume they used oil lamps but did they and are there pictures? Please consider a video concerning this history. Again, thank you so much!

I've got a couple of video projects I'm currently working on, but that'd be a wonderful topic for me to study and make a future video on. Thanks for the suggestion! I look forward to seeing what I can find on the topic

I wasn’t sure at first; if this was a pro LDS channel. I’m glad it was, because it came across really even and transparent. I’m at a point in my life where my emotional sanity and my faith, have brought me to an unbearable point. I was raised in Orem, in the church. Although never quite active growing up. There were months that we were; as much as remember anyway. Spent most of my life homeless, addicted to drugs and jails, rehabs and psych wards. Anyways to keep it simple, I want to believe more in Jesus and get to know him like I should; for me it’s believing the church history. I’m afraid it’s flawed and it’s hard to invest. Or I’m wrong; it IS true and I’m predestined, never reaching full glory 😢. SCARY. It plagues me everyday.

Hey brother, keep on keeping on! Do your best and forget the rest! Stressing always makes things worse. Don't worry about past and look forward. Just ask each day if you are better than day before. If not, do better the next day. If so, do better the next day. These small steps will add up over time and your heart will change. You will figure it all out!

The nice thing about the Church is that if one foundational principle is true then it’s necessary for other events to be true! For example, because the Book of Mormon is truly from God, then it must mean that Joseph Smith could give more truth from God. Because Joseph Smith could give more truth from God, then God Himself will witness of it to you in His special, uniquely helpful ways. We just have to be willing to watch for His response. When we are honestly watching for God to be involved in our life, then we are willing to keep the commandments and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. And the logic continually webs out from there.
