Ойын-сауық

Are you thinking about moving to San Angelo Texas? Today, we delve uncover, and reveal the pros and cons of living in San Angelo Texas, and discover what makes moving to San Angelo Texas so special!
San Angelo Texas boasts an affordable cost of living, making it an attractive option for potential residents looking for more purchasing power, especially in the real estate market. Compared to larger cities like Dallas-Fort Worth, San Angelo Texas's median home price of $250,000 offers significant savings, making it an appealing choice for those seeking affordability without sacrificing quality of life.
One of the standout advantages of living in San Angelo Texas is the minimal traffic, a stark contrast to the congested streets of larger metropolitan areas. With most destinations reachable within 15 minutes or less, residents enjoy a hassle-free commute and ample parking options, even in the downtown area. Additionally, San Angelo Texas offers a rich tapestry of cultural opportunities, fueled by its diverse population and vibrant community life. From world-renowned rodeos and stock shows to art festivals and live music events, there's never a shortage of activities to enjoy.
Despite its many strengths, San Angelo Texas does have its drawbacks. Limited options for singles seeking a dynamic social scene and a prevalence of chain restaurants are among the notable challenges. Additionally, families may find a lack of kid-friendly activities and the city's distance from major metros as potential downsides.
However, for those seeking a close-knit community, affordable living, and a blend of city and country life, San Angelo Texas offers a unique and welcoming environment worth considering.

    Great video, Halle. Your pros and cons reflect an honest look at our town. And your videos clips are wonderful. The airport comment is a good one. The invitation is open to United to return. Don't know if Delta will listen, but they are welcome, too. We've heard that Southwest requires at least 400,000 annual enplanements to consider starting service. That's a lot higher than American's current traffic. The pilot training program and airframe training program at Angelo State University are linking with Southwest (and other employers) in providing trained personnel. Who knows, this might make them thinking about us longterm.

    I grew up in San Angelo way back when South Jackson Street was a dirt road once you passed Avenue N. (My grandmother's house was at the end of the dirt road.) Summers are hottern' hell. Winters can be brutally cold, but as for the person who said "snow up to your knees," I've never seen that; most I've seen was about eight inches, best I recall, and I lived in San Angelo from the time I was a toddler until my forties. Tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, and damaging hail are a thing. I've suffered through many of each. Angelo has a thriving art scene (I'm also an artist and photographer, and enjoyed the cultural opportunities there. Howard Taylor did a magnificent job with the San Angelo Museum of Fine Art and with helping to expand the cultural scene in San Angelo). I didn't find the singles scene any more difficult than anyplace else, when I lived there and was single. There are a lot of chain restaurants, but there are also a lot of great independent restaurants, especially if you love Tex-Mex, which I do. I grew up on it, and can't wait to make it back to my hometown to eat at all of the Mexican restaurants again. Don't know how the music scene is now, but it was fair when I left. I do miss my hometown, but don't know if I'd want to return and live out the rest of my days there, or not.

    NC is also a beautiful state with Corolla's wild horses, the outer banks, Shackelford banks, the swag, Brunswick isl. beaches, Great Smoky Mountains where our friend ended up re-building his cabin log and living there since Covid19, Ashville's River Art Dist., and more. Yes, having a lake in the backyard bring lots of birds and other critters. Ours flow well and have mosquitoes but not as bad as our experiences in Corpus C. & Port A. We have enjoyed traveling along the East Coast, but we are now ready to come back home to Texas. Thinking of moving to San Angelo next Spring or Summer.

    U didn’t bring up the crime.. it’s not as bad in many neighborhoods but I’ve lived in the southside since a child im 20 now and I can tell u from the years San Angelo has grown the crime has gotten bad over there.. shootings every night and lots of robberies I myself won’t walk anywhere at night in that neighborhood… or as yall call it the barrio the north has died down but the south has gotten so much worse they’re planning on shutting down the day care and pre school due to gang violence.

  • @empowerrealestategrp

    @empowerrealestategrp

    I feel like I rarely hear about shootings and even more rarely hear about gang violence. All of the data I’ve looked up, shows that San Angelo’s violence crimes are lower than average compared to the nation’s average rates. Of course I’m not denying that these crimes don’t happen. I personally didn’t include it in my pros and cons because in my experience it hasn’t really been much of a difference from other places I have lived in my life (Greensboro, NC; Winston Salem, NC; Charlotte, NC; Columbia, SC; Miami, FL; Austin, TX; Dallas, TX). Honestly I think it’s a little better than those places. Our petty theft could definitely be better but you will get that almost anywhere.

    @@empowerrealestategrp yeah I totally understand but just from living in that area in the “barrio” there’s a lot of weird stuff the city doesn’t talk about such as why they taken 2 hours to respond to a shooting or someone getting shot. Phone lines too 911 in that area say it’s busy it’s happened since I was 13!! They never speak up about the crime situation in that side of town because if they were too the San Angelo news would be flooded with it. lots of beautiful homes in that area due too how low the rent is due to gang violence lots of people have spoken up about that situation and the city never talks about it.. I consider the southside past kfc on south Bryant one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in San Angelo.

    As someone who was born and raised in North San Angelo I can say that in the 90's we had a gang problem but those days are long gone. Is there crime? Yes, but definitely not at the point where you or your family would feel unsafe. Even North San Angelo and South San Angelo ( The Barrio) which have in the past had rough reputations are safe places. We have a very community oriented Police and Sheriff's department and very capable City leadership. Hope that helps.
