Discover My 4 Easy Tips For Painting Smoky Blue Mountains In Pastels!
In this pastel painting tutorial, I'm thrilled to share my FOUR EASY TIPS that will help you master the art of painting Smokey Blue Mountains, and most mountains in general. 🏔️
Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting your creative adventure, this tutorial is tailor-made for all artistic levels.
In this video, I work on an affordable piece of Canson MiTientes pastel paper, and I'll also introduce you to some fantastic new sets of soft pastels by Diane Townsend. These pastels have a gorgeous application and vibrant color. (links below)
Here are the 4 Tips that you will see demonstrated in the Lesson:
1. Layer Your Initial Values in Order of: Medium / Dark / Light
2. Color Temperature Rules: Cooler Colors on lower parts of mountains and shadow sides / Warmer Colors on sunlit areas
3. Soft Edges: There should be no hard edges where mountains meet the sky. Keep the transition soft with the two melding into one another
4. Distant Mountains: As mountain ranges progress in the distance they should follow the general rules of value and color temperature... gradually getting lighter and cooler as they recede further away

@@monetcafe As long as I sit peacefully; the work is being taken care of. Besides, I'm too old now; my steps are slow. I don't need another chainsaw incident, where I dislocated my shoulder. I think something is out there trying to get me… I wonder who that may be..? lol ✌️

I'm all teared up with your reference to your mom and the AI photo of her. That was so beautiful. I lost my mom in August of 2020. Miss her very much, praise God we will be reunited one day. Hopefully soon.

I don't actually often draw a landscape. I prefer to catch the light and shadow by focusing on a detail and transmitting my feelings through the prisma of foreground spot. But I often watch your tutorial videos to learn new tips and techniques. I love experimenting with papers and materials. Thanks, dear Susan.

You have inspired me to try and paint mountains. I live near the Canadian Rockies and love them so i understand you love for that view as well. I'm so grateful for the positive responses using AI technology to create ref images. When questioning whether to try something I often think, "Would the old masters have done this?" And I absolutely think the impressionistic masters (such as, Monet, Van gogh, Degas) would have!
AI steals artist work so I would never use it. I enjoyed your video though.
