Discover How Retainers Are Made and How Orange Juice Is Processed | How It’s Made | Science Channel
Ойын-сауық
Orthodontic retainers are used after tooth braces to avoid any shifting. Orthodontists advise wearing a retainer for a year after braces are removed, and each is custom-made to fit the patient's mouth.
No one knows who came up with the idea of squeezing oranges to make orange juice, but oday, many people start their day with a glass of OJ. Take a look at the journey from tree to breakfast! #ScienceChannel #HowItsMade

They skipped the part where they put the tray of goop in your mouth and make you gag for 2mins to get the initial shape of the teeth for the 3d scan 😅😅 worst part of any orthodontic experience

They actually don’t have to do that anymore!!! My daughter just got an expander and they took scans of her mouth and sent them to the lab! They sent back a 3D printed mold of her teeth! If only it were that easy back in the day! We are living in the future.

Yep. It's all 3D now. The technician uses a wand to get a 3D image and voila! Magic!

@@kckozenski The scanner must be pretty small to get access to the back side of the front teeth. And what about the outsides of the rear teeth?

@@kckozenski I got fitted for a removable retainer 2 months ago after my fixed retainer broke. Even though my orthodontist updated his office after many years of not seeing him, he still used the goop on me 😒😂
The orange inspector who checks one orange then walks away was awesome.

The retainer making process is far more janky than I ever imagined

And after all, fresh-squeezed orange juice -- like revenge -- is a dish that's best served cold.
Nice video.
I learned how the retainer is made today!!
Wow awesome 😎!!
Orange juicing on the industrial scale like most pasteurized juices is completely different than this.
love this channel
That’s so cool
Those are not oranges. They are greens!

I've never heard of a plastic that is a mix of powder + liquid. Is it available to the general public?

I use a similar product to repair chipped acrylic piano keys. It comes in a colored powder to match the tone of the key and the acetone-like liquid activates it before it hardens in a couple minutes.
Are these new epsidoes, or just reruns from the 2010s???

Wow... Now I feel bad for never wearing mine.
europeans: do you spend a fortune on straightening your teeth? genuine question, i actually do not know
I haven’t have braces yet
Sir That gallon of juice with cost you 29.99
I accidentally threw my retainer in the schools garbage twice. The first time I remember I saw it when I dumped it off my tray, and grabbed it, and didn't wear it for like two days as it sat in alcohol and cleaned it with soap. The second time, I never found it, and that was in February of 2020, and I haven't worn one since. That isn't worth $300 worth of work.
I have a different retainer that works for me
Into the bin 🤣
Haven't watched more than a literal second of it yet, but have to say that the thumbnail, & beginning, look way too much like an undead toe. Ty. That is all.
Lol. Labial.
How you gonna pair retainers episode right next to orange juice episode?! Smh...

Hit like button if you got braces on
It's pronounced ''boe'', as in bow and arrow. The crossover wires of the Adams clasps are not flush in the interproximals. Patient likely biting into the wire. Very annoying, possibly leading to patient noncompliance. Ears of Adams clasps not engaged in the undercuts of mesial and distobuccal line angles.Finished palatal acrylic appeared uneven in thickness. Big mistakes throughout. Not likely an acid bath, but just a dish soap solution. Silver solder is very susceptible to corrosive forces, including in the oral environment. Poor segment Science Channel. You also failed to mention that the laboratory that actually creates these appliances, may get up to $100 per piece, plus the fee for printing the 3D model, while the orthodontist, for his minimal work following active treatment, will bill the patient $500 or more. An assistant, that earns less than $20/hr., usually performs the scanning. Next time you have the first appointment at the orthodontists' office, look at the cars in the parking lot. A bunch of modest cars, and one Porsche, Mercedes SUV, etc..Yes, you're getting ripped off, especially if the treatment was done via clear aligners.
