Discover Australia: Grenache

Our ‘Discover’ series is a collection of wine webinars hosted by WSET School London educators and other experts, covering different regions or styles of wine.
Grenache was one of the first grapes to be introduced in Australia, and today Australia is home to the oldest Grenache vines in the world, planted in 1850. Originally, Grenache’s role was a workhorse grape, used in blends mainly for fortified wines, but with time it has come to be recognised as a hugely characterful and highly prized grape in its own right.
In this webinar, Emma Symington MW will lead you through Australia’s key Grenache regions, discussing their regional characteristics, similarities and differences as well as looking at Grenache’s different blending partners and the resulting styles of wines.
