I loved annie/dark version of disocrd. I was so mad when it didn't work anymore, that I made my own poorly made version of it using better discord. Still using it today.

It's not public, because it's really poorly made, all of the comments are in polish and I don't know how to make it update automatically. Apart from that probably most of public servers stuff looks weird.

So all they had to do was making annie/dark actually available as an option, wouldn't prevent people from using modded clients, but would make those that only uses for actual dark mode not need to.

That code you tried to paste was JavaScript code, but the thing needed some JSON data, not code.

Funny easter egg: If you look at the request that discord sends to try to make a new link (Generate Link Button in Discord Build Override Link menu) it responds with: "The maze wasn't meant for you." instead of an actual error code (we ignore the http error code here hehe)

FYI: the code doesn't go there because whatever code that person linked isn't supposed to go in the section you described. Specifically, it seems to be related to "experiments" which are basically just features built into Discord that can be turned on and off. The "build override" is a way of changing flags so that you can try these features out that are part of the builds. Even if you got access to create a build override, you still can't just steal people's information. You'd need to actually get that malicious code inside of the Discord build itself which the build override doesn't do. Hope this explains things a little better for those interested.

annie/dark wasn't actually patched, but it simply got outdated. discord changed the name of certain elements, so the old build override (which cannot be changed) just couldn't know the new names

If you want the really dark mode, you can still get it on mobile, at least android, not sure about iOS. Spam click the dark mode option and it will turn super dark :) Works to this day

Build overrides are tracked completely seperately from Discord's normal versions. So for every change that Discord makes to the normal versions that change has to be automatically applied to the build override which over time can break and ultimately is not worth the hassle

Here is a little secret.(this only works on mobile) If you tap the dark button about 5 to 10 times, it will say AMOLED Mode. This is just like the annie/dark mode but if you try to login your amoled account to a non-mobile device, it will switch to dark

Because that's exactly how such things work, you kinda tell your client to be based on ISOLATED dead end branch (think of your Bepinex-supporting beta branches on Steam or such), and unless that specific isolated branch gets any updates (generally no reason to) you're kinda "heh" in there until you give up on it.

They should have just released the build overrides people like, such as true dark mode.
