I still use an older version of the app from 2020-ish. The older UI was very snappy and intuitive-and I wouldn't mind it coming back. But to be honest, I feel like it would be a wiser use of resources to polish the updated version without making it feel like nothing happened.

I get confirmation screens may get grating after a while, but a pop-up that says "starting call in 15 seconds" would be so good as a confirmation screen before a call. The user could turn that off in settings should they so choose, of course.

You guys are complaining about it because you guys aren’t used to it which is relatable since I pretty got used to old UI but based on looks, smooth and management the new UI has, it’s clearly better. But as I said again, lots of people (included me) hate the new UI because you aren’t used to new thing and that would make you uncomfortable obviously

Even though this is a great start, the amount of other issues/bug are getting worse: 1. Clicking a Device Notification (Android/IOS) from a message in a server, sometimes the channel scrolls up then back down to the correct message you wanted to see, which takes a long time. Sometimes it jumps to the message, sometimes is does not. 2. Unread messages not being marked as read, mainly in direct messages... (one of the worst problems) 3. Moving between servers, dms, profile, etc takes a little bit longer to load than before

The slow loading is still not fixed after all this time....

I still miss the search button from the old discord app. Being able to search a server’s name and instantly jump to it was something I did constantly, and was removed in the new app

3:55 the problem is, if you're typing something big on a small phone and you want to stop typing out the message and look for at something - its impossible because the chatbox covers the whole screen. + i believe on android there is a 4th button near all that mess - delete the whole typed out message, which is really easy to hit

if you're willing to use an older app, Aliucord is incredibly performant but is based off of a Discord client from 2022.

I love how “fixing the app” is just reverting the changes. Nevertheless I’m glad they’re doing as such, I’m tired of using the browser version of discord on my phone

I mean honestly, the buttons at the bottom in a chat are really cluttered. You dont need the gift button, you dont need the buttons to be that big on their own The text bar in the discord chat is like 30% of the total width The text bar on whatsapp for example is like 80%, so discord is just doing something weird and wrong there

One month later, the app is still dogshit. Just give the old app back as UI customization. For people that like it, cool. For people that like the old UI, great, they can use it. The new discord app sucks. It's slow, it hardly functions, and often sends DM's to the wrong person.

Everytime this man works all time just to give us information and entertainment (and a bit dad jokes). This man deserves more

As someone with small hands, I liked the messages button being moved to the bottom of the screen. It makes it easier to use the app while holding the phone with one hand.

I misread the title as a 'Discord's Mobile App is gone now?' and was excited at first until I read it more carefully.

a lot of discord's decisions are downright bad but i do genuinely believe that their approach to colour accessibility is one of the best out there. soooo many apps and websites focus on high-contrast for improved visibility-- but that's only half of the issue! i can't stand high contrast, i need things to be less saturated and more similar for it to be even remotely usable for me, and discord's built in saturation slider on desktop has been a godsend. very glad to see that and more coming to the mobile app.

2:54 my favourite bit is that you tap on the plus and get the option to use your camera then you tap on photos and get the option to use your camera _again_ because i 100% want to use my god damn camera when on discord

It really feels like every update breaks the app more and more.. this current update actually made my experience worse (in terms of bugs and glitches)

I love the swipe to reply feature. I hate that if you do that to your own message it becomes swipe to edit, unless you only half swipe on your own message. Oh and if you start editing your own message, anything you had typed gets completely cleared.

In Brazil we often use the button to send audios to another person, we use it like WhatsApp, where in your region they don't use it much I believe.

damn, I don't even mind most changes, what bothers me the most is that each update makes Discord less and less responsive, like now I often have to wait around 10 seconds to switch between channels

If you swipe far enough to the left on your own message, it will show the edit icon to indicate that you're about to trigger a different action

some nice quality of life features...that i already had with vendetta the new theme layout and aesthetic is just generally awful and again, they just need a button to fully return back to the old UI with the trade of locking the new layout customization features

Nice to see them improving the mobile app. I still have mine downgraded, but with the direction things are headed i can see myself willfully switching to the new UI.

Honestly after some time with the new UI I don't have major problems with it and there are some parts that I like more than old layout but there are still some quirks and bugs that are super annoying. The way the image selector is unnecessarily split into two where it could be one button just like in the old layout or the discord gift nitro shoved in your face when you want to text someone just for you to missclick. Now, bugs. There are some bugs that are super annoying. Sometimes emoji bar refuses do slide up or slides up in the middle or doesn't go down it's super annoying and irritating and another one I expirienced was when I was in dms or in a server and my chat was stuck in one place and when I moved it down or up it kept going back to the same place. In conclusion while UI update wasnt necessecary I think it's still pretty cool after some time getting used to it. There are some stupid changes and bugs but I hope discord can iron them out.

BTW if u swip on ur own messages it turns into " edit message" WHICH I REALLY REALLY LOVE

I remember when you posted the video that they were updating the app and you said we'd just get used to it. Not only did no one get used to it, it was horrible to figure out where the ping was from. Was it messaged or a server? Now with it being put back in the correct spot it's much easier to tell. When they updated it to be at the bottom, it was a whole new page for DMs and servers, which was absolutely annoying as well. Honestly GFY for siding with them when they took that top left button away. I'm still salty that you just said "get used it it" and supported it. Glad they are bringing it back and we still have the nav bar at the bottom. At 4:05 they need to get rid of the gift button, no one is gifting nitro through it, just put it elsewhere. Keep the plus, picture and emote button on there.

The biggest problem right now in my opinion are the random crashes of the app. It literally happens randomly with no way to recreate it, 5 - 8 times a day.

As a developer I actually LOVE the new slash command/app launcher menu

I have too many servers, having to scroll up if I was near the bottom for DMs sucked on mobile. Them finally improving the bottom bar for mobile helped me quickly get into DMs, sure it took a week to learn to click there, but ti saves me so much time. I hope this is more of a toggle feature versus just throwing it back up there.

I really like the new App layout. It fixed all the problems I had with the App and I can finally use it as a pleasant mobile messenger.

I love that they still have not realized how bad these changes are on the older devices still being supported, like my iPhone 5s on iOS 12.

Swipe to see memeer list makes way more sense. You swipe so the things that are hidden at the right sight, come into vision.

They should make it so we could customize the colors of everything and then allow us to save our presets and even share them with other users. Like custom themes in a way

The complaint about needing a wider phone is valid, at least for certain Android devices. Things like the Galaxy Fold outer screen, or even the main screen on the Galaxy Flip line of devices are less wide then your average phone, and the chatbox is already pretty slim on these devices in the Discord mobile app. adding more buttons would effectively result in the chatbox being just another button at the bottom on these devices...

I just absolutely think it's unacceptable for my call quality to go down so much. And it affects the audio quality across my entire cell phone whether or not I'm using Bluetooth headphones. I only came across this video because I've been spending the past hour and a half trying to fix the call quality and I realized I need probably a discord APK that doesn't change from the normal audio profile to the profile. Making everything sound like it's in 1980s phone call

I swear, now that people give it good reviews again they must be thinking at discord HQ about the "next redesign"

they're not designing based on how people actually use discord, they're designing based on how they WANT people to use discord. and what they want people to do is buy nitro

They should probably make an option in advanced or the appearance tab and just add an option named "Classic UI" or something like that

In my opinion swipe to reply is a good thing, but many apps are able to execute it while at the same time keeping the navigating pages function. Also, discord decided to make you swipe in the other direction than any other app, which really messed muscle memory between apps

My main issue is that when you try to search for a message in discord mobile it searches *in that channel* and not the server now

They definetly also have to fix some other bugs in the mobile app, especially the issue with GIF images causing the app to lag extremely and if there are more than 2 GIF images it will freeze the app.

Cool now Idk where to tell discord about this but adding the ability to switch clients instead of leaving and join the VC on the other client would be great.

There's so many bugs tho which I wish they'd fix. The camera is upside down when i vid call on my phone and turn it sideways, the voice messages are too quiet, app randomly freezes, mainly on android. And it sucks :(

I absolutely love when that the nitro gifting button is pretty much in the same spot as the servers button, so when it lags upon me simply tapping the servers button, i press it again out of frustration and it opens up the nitro gifting tab. Almost feels intentional.

Discord is just really buggy though, that's my only issue with it. Gotta restart it every once in a while because something stops working or a picture is just stuck on screen etc lol.

My biggest problem with the mobile app is that the voice channels / Pohne calls are so bad, the GUI sometimes just doesn't work and Bluetooth didn't seem to work too.

I wonder when theyre gonna fix the bugs that constantly happen when just opening the damn app, like images not sizing correctly, scrolling not working, uploading files and images not working. It seems they havent tried to do anything with the 'sharing from other media screen' either.
