Very good -- that gal's got a lot of wisdom! I was hoping though she would have told the end of the Walmart story - what did she do in the moment after her child knocked all those shoes to the floor? smile!

I say regularly, “I spent every day putting out fires. Thankfully not literal fires.” My husband was a firefighter for several years.

"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." (2 Timothy 3:5-7, KJV)

We still don't know if the her daughter who trashed the shoes at Walmart got punished for that. Her way of doing it would be,"Now Janey, we don't act like that when we're out shopping,ok ?" She seems like a very emotional woman and naming this and naming that technique isn't the way to parent. Her whole approach seems to be 'don't get the poor kid upset.' I wouldn't waste money on her book.

Her approach was more look at the heart of what's going on. It's an excellent book I highly recommend it, and I'm definitely an advocate of strong discipline.

Yeah I'm not hearing any specific examples of discipline. I agree that going too hard can be a mistake but "spare the rod spoil the child".

​@mountainseeker2844 I think of the verse in Proverbs that says if you spare the rod, you hate your son. I agree with her rules have to have relationship. I didn't hear her mention any rules/ punishment. I understand not being too hard, but being permissive is what I think she leans to.

She lost me at 6 min when she said her 2 year old can reach both sides of the isle at Walmart simultaneously and into the shelf deep enough to knock all the shoes off. Maybe don't start a Christian based lecture with a blatant lie....

I have appreciated what I have read of Mr. Daily’s work, but he interrupted her way too much. Personally, I wanted to hear what she had to say, not him. I already know Mr. Daily knows what he is talking about, I wanted to hear where she was coming from. By the way, I am with Mr. Daily on one thing - her book is worth reading, especially, the first third of it.

Dido! It seemed like he had this yea I know attitude. .. 1st time I've ever seen this but he consistently cut her off like she was rambling & there's not enough time or something? I feel like she was getting a agitated more & more & her eyes are much redder at the end than at the beginning but that could be her passion..

That's what I was thinking as well. I've noticed many interviews where Mr. Daly interrupts the speakers with this thoughts. I would love to just hear the people talk without his additional comments.

Perhaps she'll be invited back for a part 2 under a different name to make up for what we didn't hear. I felt I needed to take a deep breath more than once! We all need grace. So he gets grace, too. :)
