Where does Renew fall into the chart, namely the red boxes you outlined at timestamp 13:15? It's where it's detailed what spells should be used as much as possible.

a 6 tick renew would be right below binding heal on the hps chart and below PoH (5 players) on the hpm chart. With all factors combined (grace, inner will, spec, glyph)

It's healbot, it tracks that stuff automatically.

Great video. It's been a grind learning disc in heroics & yeah. It's a gongshow some of the time.

One piece of information I'd like to bring to your guys attention. It looks like the divine aegis shield quadruples in value when your crit, I didn't realize this when I made the video. If thats not a bug then the stat priority might become crit = mastery > haste, but I'll have to mess around with it when the game comes out.

in pre patch I'm getting 79% absorb to heal on Poh crits with 30% mastery...dropping all mastery and doubling crit to 34%, crit Poh's are 71% absorb to heal...so looks like crit is very strong w poh playstyle, the heals are literally double (4.5k to 9.5k. etc)...mastery seems low value honestly, the play may be just crit & haste. A crit Poh da is like 120% more absorb compared to a non-crit, combined with a huge heal...compared to mastery just adding 20-30% more absorb to all?

nice catch. looks like divine aegis procs twice for prayer of healing crits. with crits being 2x heal in cata now, that's 2x2 getting you the 4x value. edit: definitely not a bug. was added in patch 4.0.6 and then removed in MoP patch 5.0.4 Patch 4.0.6 Critical effects from Prayer of Healing now award a bonus amount in addition to the default, always-proc Divine Aegis effect.

Whats your take on holy for Nefarian HC ? Witth the instant. Holy Word: Serenity which also refreshes Renew , do you think Holy could be a viable tank healer? You could fill in with CoH's or PoHs as needed on the raid, maybe even a Lightwell or something.

So I have always enjoyed holy priest but I know every one hates holy. I don’t want to do disc since they only want one per raid . Should I re roll resto druid? I can’t be at every raid so I will need to do pick up groups and usually disc priest spot already taken

Every healer will be 1 per raid except h pal probably. I'd just play what you enjoy.

I think the reason Renew doesn't consume Borrowed Time is because it's instant cast.

Blood elf gives u the most mana so they're the best. Troll will be good later on when u don't have any mana problems and if ur alliance Gnome > human probably.

Pre-shielding isn't efficient in cata sorry. Only in lots of raid gear will you be able to spam PW:S pre-emptively like in wrath. The closest ull get in these first 2 raid tiers is that PW:S/Renew/Inner Will playstyle I showed in the dungeon healing footage. But you'd still have to use atonement, there's no getting around that. I'm with u tho, I hate smart healing and I hate healers doing damage.

You can, it's just nerfed and you're given other abilities that make it more interesting and nuanced. It falls off faster if I'm not mistaken. I still find shielding incredibly strong due to the instant heal on top of the shield itself. I would say it's always worth putting on the tank, always worth using on players taking more damage. Like OP said you can't just pre-shield the whole raid prior to major AOE damage but it's still effective. Atonement healing is like a back up thing to do once you're done putting your main spells on the tank, it sure beats standing around in dungeons and you're helping out a LOT. People love you. I disagree with OP's take on the video that suggests you HAVE to use it in raids. It's honestly a great dungeon tool, but you can absolutely still be a bubble + renew king as OP literally shows in his gameplay as an example. Don't use greater heal at all, use flash heal when you need it, don't be afraid to use it completely because mana is not as bad as OP is suggesting. Same general mentality with bubbles.

Is PW:S fine to spam in Cata? You aren't blocking rage generation and whatever palas need to take damage for?

Interesting video. A few points of note: 1) Penance ticks are not affected by haste. Only the channel duration. 2) Inspiration is mandatory for disc priests healing tanks. 3) The Glyph of Renew provides an additional 10% on renew if I am not mistaken. Not 25%. 4) Is Power Infusion going to be used by the Disc Priest on themselves rather than on a dps? 5) The 6th tick for renew happens at 37.5% haste. Unless I missed something, with 1600 haste rating, 5% raid haste buff and 14% from Borrowed Time, you have only 31.5% haste. That's not enough for the 6th tick. 6) Does mana efficiency increase for Holy Priests when using Greater Heal under the effect of Chakra: Serenity (+10% crit, Renew refreshed by direct heal), and Holy Word Serenity (+25% crit chance)?

1) its possible, just something I read on an old forum post so I thought I'd mention it 2) I read that inspiration doesn't stack with shamans ancestral healing, if thats true then you don't need inspiration in 25 man 3) on the private server i'm on its 10%, on the cata beta and cata talent calculator its 25% 4) lol I aint using PI on anyone but myself 5) I was able to get 7 ticks of renew with just lust and borrowed time so I feel like 6 should be attainable. I'm not a math nerd tho so I don't know that exact number that you'll need. 6) It does but Chakra Serenity is still trash.

1) I tested it on the Beta. You do not get extra ticks. Just shorter duration. 2) Inspiration does not stack with ancestral healing but in cases where you are tank healing like you showed in Nefarian, you need Inspiration. Anyhow your renew build includes it. So it's all good. 3) Actually, on the beta it's 25%. That is not how it is in old guides and private servers. Strange. 4) Hahaha awesome 5) Haste break points: 12.5% (5th tick) 37.5% (6th tick) 62.5% (7th tick) 87.5% (8th tick) 6) The rotation of Serenity, 2 X Heal*, PoM/PWS on CD works really nice. The refresh of renew snapshots ticks based on haste but the spell duration becomes 15 seconds. Plus Echo of Light. *when Surge of Light procs: Flash Heal, Greater Heal, Heal, Serenity.

You only need half a percent of haste to get a 6th tick with Lust/PI and Borrowed Time. 18.8% for a 7th tick. A troll will be able to hit 8 ticks with 14.2%

For the 8th he needs another 6% or another 768 haste. If he is Goblin and has the Darkness talent he still needs another 2%. Maybe from a trinket or something. In any case, for phase 1, the standard should be 5 ticks. Occasionally 6.

@@whitemagick4 PI and Bloodlust don't stack. Don't think that is changing. Berserking does stack, though, which is why I mentioned Trolls. But haste stacks multiplicatively, so PI/Lust + Zerk + Borrowed Time + Raid Buff = 72% haste. Only need 8.8% haste from HR to hit 8 ticks. During the prepatch, haste rating conversion is favorable enough that you could hit 11 or 12 ticks if you were so inclined.

I use hybrid renew spec on disc priest. My crits on renew give my target a 20k divine aegis when it crits. So... we wouldnt want to completely abandon crit? I get your point ab the prayer of healing part of your argument.

I’m playing disc and in H dungeons and the dps is taking way to much damage and also the tank and my mana can’t keep up healing over 9kk in one run no deaths

You don't just want to go oom, you want to go oom at the right time. If you go oom too fast you're fucked, if you go oom too slowly you risk wiping the raid because you didn't do enough healing. A better way of looking at it is "properly allocating your mana for each part of the boss fight".

i got asked to switch last moment so i'm quickly learning and my basic ass take away is keep pom/holy fire on cd try to cast smite 3 times after holy fire PW:S every 12 seconds on the tank to proc rapture try to keep 3 stacks of grace on the tank use penance to spot heal people if there's more than one person taking damage just press PoH?

Almost. - poh on 3 or more players - cast heal on the tank once every 12 seconds (poh takes priority) - penance can be used for tank healing or spot healing

people will be running 2 discs for sure - likely 2 hpal/2 disc/rdruid>rsham>hpriest, the hps/dmg combined + 2 barriers is too strong. I think in current testing DA is by far the strongest heal..

I was thinkin 2 h pal and 1 of everything else for the first raid tier. 2 disc will be cancer because both of them will be trying to apply PW:S to the same tank for rapture. Double disc on halfus for sure tho.

I disagree. I think atonement is to weak in cata but still to strong in mop. Like back in actual cata i straight up couldnt heal heroic raids. I will say i was still young ish back then so i may have just been playing it terribly.

Sorry but this might be the worst guide for disc priest ive seen, atonement and haste goes hand in hand, most important stat after spirit

Im new player, it seems like you are lost because you don't tested everything and still have question pending, the way to play looks strong and pretty much the best but the build and explanation are weird, you base some thing about very old forum, you should just try yourself every single stats and compare it with multiple attemps

you spec into atonement for a reason Disc priest is like a support healer he damages and atonement does the smart healing (lowest target) so your biggest prio is to smite and holy fire on cd penance the tank for grace stacks and shoeld for rapture proc. On high AoE you can use prayer of healing and Prayer of Mending on cd you use flash heal or greater heal only in critical conditions
