DISASTER on the mud flats to MONSTER BARRAMUNDI | Kurtjar Country, Northern Australia
This was the day of days guys, such an emotional roller coaster. A great example of what a day is like on these remote trips into Far Northern Australia. When S*&t hits the fan you only have yourself to rely on. Luckily the fish turned on at the last minute and Jordan nailed them, so we had fresh BARRAMUNDI for dinner.
Thanks to Jordo for having us on Kurtjar Country, Cape York and big thanks to all of you for watching.
The Wild Reaches store is re stocked so jump in there and grab some merch www.wildreaches.com/shop

@@WildReaches With the two I will possibly never use them both but if in desparate need I guess I could use an equiliser strap and have double the ground. There are some chinese ones out there. a lot cheaper than ARB I am not sure about them they look ok. But the one I bought is the ARB one.

He’s back!
So you probably didn't show all the drama but there are several options open to you that might have helped you get yourself out of that bog; * Carry a different style anchor Danforth or little Mantis on your boat ...... you could have used as a ground anchor (this would also let you set up a temporary endless mooring to facilitate safe boat access in especially croc country) * carry a folding camp shovel to help you clear the mud and get access to shove sticks under wheels, no shovel a paddle/oar would have worked (no paddle ..... carry paddles) * bury a tyre (trailer) ..... no tools dig holes to bury tyres trailer and all, could have even tried to hook the winch cable to the trailer A frame and buried the front of the trailer into the mud * noticed you had a winch rope braking bag ...... in a pinch you can turn this into a ground anchor (like a "Deadman Ground Anchor" - this can work in sand not sure about mud) The biggest thing to remember is like you said step back, access the situation, never give up, ....... if you could not get the car in remember you had the boat which you could have pulled up to the back of the bike and used it to help lift the bike up a bit to get rear out of that hole so you could get more sticks under it (Using anchor rope and truckies hitches or the like). You could have also tried to use the back of the trailer as fulcrum to lift the back of the bike up........or just chuck the Maxtracks you carry on your car in the boat. The yabbie is known as a Mud Lobster (Thalassina anommila), they make the volcanic looking mounds of mud you see in the mangroves
Nice work legend

OMG Jordo's back, he's our favorite at the Fishing and Country Club, y'all will produce some good episodes now he's back on the team. Looking forward to some giant barras and gators. Dam those mud clam things are big much bigger than our clam bakes. God damn, what is that scorpion crawdad y'all found, is it venomous like near on everything else y'all have down under. Y'all should get a hovercraft or an airboat for those treacherous mud flats, they're great for hog hunting to. Y'all should post some episodes on that to, we shoot the heck outa our hog here but doesn't seem to make any impact on em.
@WildReaches
Жыл бұрын
Yeah they’re a nuisance here too mate, we cook some up in the next episode. Glad you’re enjoying the show. Nah they’re not venomous, have to be one of the only things not trying to get us out here 😂
Looks like a heap of fun. Sadly my childhood friends are too prissy for that sort of thing. Good thing I married a good one. She's a gamer. So is the dog. All I need. Best to you and your compadres. Excellent content. By the way we are from South Texas. Ton of trouble to get into if you care to try. Meaning fishing n hunting.
Natb, I'm Andrew NQ. That's an extremely rare endangered mud cove Cray I think . I caught one last week put him back. Crazy looking. Meunga creek near.

Not sure what the local name is for the critter you show at 13.55 but scientists call it a mud lobster. Thalassina anomala. Widespread in the tropical Indo- Pacific region. Important in mangroves where their burrowing and mound building turnover the soil and provide habitat for other fauna.

Should of used the boat anchor on the winch cable , love these trips..
@WildReaches
Жыл бұрын
Yeah we tried that.
Nate. You need to get yourself a proper anchor for your tinny. Not only will it do for you boat but you can re-purpose it for situation when you don't have anything solid to anchor a winch line to. Bed it in the sand/mud deeply, get someone to stand on it, and start winching. Failing that, you could have made a sand anchor. Dig a hole. Attach the winch line to a spare tire (or a tire taken off the trailer). Bury it a deep as you can with as much weight on top as you can find. And winch away.
Ha bro, I laughed when you said you loved this remote stuff. Fuck it all looks remote to me. Nice one.
