Disappointed…🥲

I wrote the model on the flat top with a permanent marker. Then I added some transparent nail polish or modge podge. It solved the problem. These are hand made brushes, by a small company in Brittany France. Lots of work and fine skills go into making a watercolour brush. Don't let a small and solvable issue disappoint you. Other brands (Escoda, ProArte, for example) fail to write the model in the flat top. Only my Rosemary brushes include a code or number on the flat top. Enjoy your wonderful new brushes.

i agree it's a small and solvable issue but i'll still be disappointed. lol. if i had escoda and proarte and they're like these raphael, i would be disappointed too. my rosemary brushes have codes on top as well but not all of them. the best i've seen and have, is tintoretto. they have all the info on the outside, very clear. i wish more brands would pay more attention to this detail. that said, i do understand quality materials do take fine skills and i do not discount that for a bit. i love raphael afterall. but this is one point they can definitely improve on. btw, since u have many travel brushes, which is your favourite? :D

@@PaintinHiding I understand your point. I hope you still enjy your brushes while using them. Thanks for the question. My favourite travel brush is Rosemary's R12 sable and nylon pocket brush (12mm wide). It is a dagger brush. If I could only take one brush when traveling, that would be it. I can use it on the side for thin lines or dots, it has a fantastic point and its belly carries enough water to do washes. It can do broad strokes and curved ones for petals, for example. It is very precise. Currently at €25, it is a bit of a commitment. It takes skill and experience for the @RosemaryCoArtistBrushes master paint brush makers to make these brushes and I am willing to support that with my purchase. I paint small (Max A4) when I travel, so the size is appropriate.I am curious about how you like your quill / mop brush. I have been eyeing this shape for a travel brush for a while. Thanks for reading this far and for your interesting videos.

@@berolinastrassmann ohhh i think i have R12 as well. i agree, definitely a great versatile brush especially if you're only bringing just one. great choice! :D so specifically regardiing travel brushes, i currently have this raphael quill mop, tintoretto pure squirrel quill mop, and rosemary pure squirrel quill mop. i dont think u can get the rosemary pure squirrel quill mop anymore but they still have the squirrel round mop which is essentially the same, just different ferrule design. anyway... i love them all. the sizes are all a little different from one another but i like them because i like wet juicy washes and they're great because they still come to a point. it's good for covering large areas fast but also good for details and splatters.

It's the same thing with the Escoda travel brushes. I've got to open them all to know which is which -_-

Colour code them with washi tape or posca markers or nail varnish or just store them in order of size.

I wanted to get these cause I loved their short handled travel set 😢 I think they overlooked that not many of us open all our brushes “to display” before painting. I have this issue with Rosemary & Co as well. Some are labelled some are not. I just gave up and printed the labels myself and stuck it on 😅

i feel like it's not even a tiny detail. it's pretty important. like... did anyone not bring this set to test run in an actual plein air situation? lol. maybe they thought that if we bought this set, we would ONLY use the brushes here instead of swap some out with other brands. i have the same problem with my rosemary as well

@@PaintinHiding I have a feeling they probably assumed their consumers to have a pochade box and a tripod to hang the brush holder and the brushes assembled before the painting😅

I can see how it’d be annoying not knowing which brush you’re opening!

I passed on this set over the weekend mostly because the brushes are too small for me, but also because of what you mentioned. Sure, you could lable them, but this set is expensive and they should do it for you!

several people also said the sizes are just too small~ which i agree. for a set, they should have had small medium and large. thankfully i dont have many small size travel brushes so i was ok woth the sizes

Yeah, labels aren't pretty, but I would use the White on Clear tape for my P-touch label maker for these situations. I should probably get the Black on Clear tape for easier readability.

Argh! That is super annoying. Yes, you can work around it, but the aesthetic of that beautiful brush is diminished by a taped on label. Please, can we have a few nice things that we don’t have to fix with duct tape?😂🙏
