EVERYONE please go by the PIN numbers not color. In my 04 Corolla its a RED wire with a WHITE stripe. In this gentlemans vehicle its yellow. The pin is number 12. Pull the plug out, find #12 & look to see the wire color to cut.

​@@XxDeadShotxX101They are numbered! taking the relay out is crucial, they're in the plug side of the relay very small but you have to look for pin 12. Just don't go by any color.

THANK YOU!! Your procedure works on my 2007 Toyota corolla. Now I have full control of my lights. Once again thank you, you're video is very easy to follow.

Up to ‘04 it’s a yellow wire. ‘05 and up it’s a red/white wire. REGARDLESS of wire color it’s ALWAYS PIN 12.

I've been watching and doing a lot of research and e eeyone out there doesn't explain how to do this properly. I'm going to explain it to you and hopefully it'll answer all your questions instead of these people who make the videos don't even respond back or give a poop about you cutting the wrong wire. Ok this will disable your DRL also know as daylight running lights so you can have full control over your headlights without all the automatic turn on stuff. This will work for the 9th generation 02-08 Corollas. I'm going to make this as simple as possible u like these so call guys making the videos not really telling you the whole steps. *The DRL module box is located underneath the steering column. If you craw under it and look up you will see it. It's a black rectangular/squareish box. That is your daylight running light/headlights box. What you do first unplug the white clip, (now do this part which is very important) otherwise you won't know which wire to cut. After unplugging the clip what you wanna do is pull up on the black box and take the black box out before cutting anything. The black box is crucial because this will determine which wire to cut. On different years is different wires. But the main thing you have to do to make sure is no matter what year it is ALWAYS pin#12. After taking out the black box after unhooked it you look at the inside of the box and there should be numbers inside. Don't worry I'd you don't see pin#12 because it won't be on it. But they have the other numbers in there and you should be able to tell where pin#12 is. They skip every other number for some reason but you get it. So whether the wire you're trying to cut is all red with a tiny strip which is right next to pin#1 &2 which are the big fat red and beige color ones or the yellow wire JUST MAKE SURE you look inside the black box and see where pin#12 is located? Mine is a 2005 Corolla S and mine is red with the tiny stripe. All you do is just cut the red and white stripe wire and use some electrical tape and tape both of the cut ends. THATS IT!! THATS ALL YOU NEED TO DO! This is for the red and white stripe wire. For the yellow wire which is usually for 02-04 models I believe is the yellow wire and from what I see researching I find that you have to cut the yellow wire and tape the end and ground the one coming from the clip/module. I'm not sure about this since mine is a 2005 and I did not do it that way. But to be sure just MAKE SURE YOU LOOK INSIDE TYE BLACK BOX to see where pin#12 is in your Corolla? If you your pin#12 is the yellow one I advise you to just cut it and hop out and turn your car on and see if the DRL is disable? If so great it worked if not then follow the steps to ground the wore coming from the module/clip part and make sure you tape off the other end. Ok, I hope this is more clear then some of these videos that are made on KZread and the internet. If you have any questions please feel free to ask? Thanks for the mentioning the colour.

The DRL are activated by the switch under the ebrake/parking handle. You can just disconnect the connection to this switch and this will deactivate the DRL.

I have an 05, and I did cut the yellow wire, at first it wasn’t working because I thought I grounded But I didn’t do it on the right place…. Make sure you follow this video to the T… this video helped me a lot.. my car is yellow wire.

Mine had on in yellow 2006 le corolla, i though about take the plug out but was little difficult and being lazy i just cut it, the only yellow. It worked. I will later ad a switch so i can turn it back if i want

Has one solid yellow cable and one yellow with black stripe. I cut then one with black stripe and ground it and done. Dint even had to cut multiple cables to find it.

On the 05 Corolla ce pin 12 is the red and white wire and you do not have to ground it if you don’t want to.

Worked great on my 2003 Corolla. Nearly impossible to use more than 1 hand due to tight space. Thanks for the vid.

I had this problem with my e12 2003 corolla FINNISH version. That relay box is behind glove box and you have to cut yellow-black wire to disable dlr with this version.

Cut the yellow wire on my 05 LE yesterdys. Didn’t work. Going to pull the harness & look for #12 & cut that wire today.

This procedure isn't about colors you actually have to look for pin #12! no matter what color is they vary frequently. In my 03 corolla is red.

My 2007 Corolla has no yellow wire. There is a yellow and red wire. I clipped it, terminated it and grounded it. When I turn on the headlights, the small, 'yellow' blinker lights turn on (not blinking, they just turn on), but the headlights do not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1) For sure the 'yellow and red' wire you clipped is not for DRLs and my suggestion to connect it back if you haven't already yet. 2) Not 100% sure but multiple threads confirmed a yellow wire for DRL in 2007 year but could be different as you mentioning there isn't one in yours. However you can work on pin #12 wire on the drl box. 3) While working with pin 12 wire --> for most of us, grounding the wire which is not coming from DRL box worked but you can try the reverse if that doesn't work ... ground the end coming out of the DRL box and test it. let us know of your findings.

@@angieh6024 super easy to ground, I've even grounded by bolting a bolt and nut to the side of the dash and used that as a ground, just make sure the wire you use has the same capacity as the OEM wires

I see your confusion and here it is: The white wire you see in the video was already grounded and it's not part of the DRL disabling process. I am using the same grounding place of the white wire to ground the DRL disabling wire (Red wire) which is connected to the Yellow (#12) wire from DRL box. Keep in mind, just cutting the "Yellow (#12)" wire would NOT disable the DRLs, you need to ground it in order to disable the DRLs, . Hope this helps. remember .. work safely, work wisely, have fun.

My 04 has Daytime Running Lamps as well as automatic headlights. Will this bypass still allow the automatic (turn on at dark) function to work, or does it kill that as well as the drl function?

You can just splice the wire back together, or probably even install a simple crimped switch in between.

Corolla's low beam is 9006 bulb .. you can not change it to high beam.

glad you are part of the 11% who got saved while driving in mid day light cause sunlight is not enough. when you install HID system, the bulbs will flicker if the DRL system is on.

This process should work on 2006 as well, make sure you are grounding the "yellow" wire which coming out of the DRL box. if you don't ground it, it will keep the DRL on.

You should disable the #12 It may be different color for other years

If you leave your headlight switch in the (auto) setting, will they still shut off when you take the key out and come in when you start it? I don't want to accidentally leave my headlights on.

If you need to be told to turn on your headlights because it's dark, then you don't belong behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. Uber/Lyft/Walking will keep said person and the public safer.
