They were her parents. You need to see the movie. Set in 1963 in the Catskills at a Jewish resort. Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) was an employee at the resort and the girl, Baby, (Jennifer Grey) was a guest. Guests and the hired dancers weren’t supposed to mingle. Great soundtrack from the 60’s. You’ll love it.

When Patrick Swayze was 18, he suffered a major injury to his left leg during one of the final football games of his senior year. While he had been leaning toward choosing Gridiron over the arts, the incident led him to transfer his energy to gymnastics - and used dance as a method of therapy to strengthen his body. RIP to a talented beautiful man, he is missed in the movie world.

It wasn't the age that was the issue, in the script he's supposed to be about 21 (they could not find anyone the right age who was as good in the role). His problem is that he's poor. There is a lot about classism in the film.

Lmao, how funny! The older couple are Babys parents. The guy, Johnny, is a dance instructor who Baby fell in love with. Rich girl, poor boy story. But so much fun to watch. 😀
The passing of Patrick Swayze is something I don’t think I’ll ever fully get over. His soul is so magical and will always live on - miss him so much 💓
This was set in the Catskill mountains in the early 60s when there were resorts that had dance lessons. He was the instructor. She was was the daughter of the couple at the table. They didn't want their 18-year-old daughter messing with the low-class guy. In real life, Patrick Swayze grew up in his mother's dance studio and was a dancer before he was an actor
She said "SHE got this from me." Those are her parents. And Patrick Swayze (rip) WAS a dancer before he became an actor.

This movie is one of the iconic movies of the 80s. You definitely need to see the whole thing.
Kinda have to see the whole movie to get the impact of this dance. I was 11 when this came out... It was the biggest thing. OMG watching this... i remember the whole dance. We ALL learned it. Burned holes through VHS tapes replaying it to learn the steps. LOL!
J- this move is a CLASSIC must!!!! (NOT the remake) this one from the 80’s- no, BOTH were her parents! This move has not only this song, but lots of great ones in it! Funny scenes, serious ones, etc.. Has it all! You just gotta watch it, please!!! And let us know what you thought- I know you’ll love it!! 💛❤️✌️✨

Well that's my lockdown Sunday planned. Couch, coffee and dirty dancing dvd :) Thanx for the memories.
When this first came out, we got it on VHS...we literally watched this final scene over and over...without exaggeration, in one sitting - 20 times at least! My sister and I used to practice the “lift” in the pool! We had the whole soundtrack and acted out all the scenes and the songs...this has a very special place in my heart! ❤️
One of the greatest movies of all time. They are so great together. RIP Patrick.
This song has the power to move everybody. One day, I was at Home Depot, and they started playing it (who knew that HD was such a great place for dancing?). Naturally, I started dancing to it. As I am walking around and dancing, I see a Muslim lady, burka clad, also dancing to it. We walked by each other, still dancing, and high fived each other.
I think we all need JayveeTV watches Dirty Dancing Reaction, followed by Footloose
Dirty Dancing was a fun movie with a good soundtrack. I like the songs “Hungry Eyes” and “Yes” and Patrick Swayze but I’m sure I wasn’t the only one at that time lol.
Jennifer Grey was on Dancing With the Stars for a season, just a year after Patrick's death. The first week, she was very emotional about her performance, because it reminded her so much of her time on the Dirty Dancing set, with Patrick!!!!
BALLROOM!!! MERINGUE! YAY! Patrick Swayze started as a ballet dancer. During filming the entire cast and crew kept a dance party happening 24/7 off set, for weeks, people coming and going for filming or sleep or other needs, and then coming back to dance, constantly. Heaven!
Never get tired of hearing this.....one of my all time fave movies!! Thank you for playing. 👍👍❤
That was Baby's mother not his you'll have to watch the movie😊
It's a coming of age story about two people from different worlds coming together and falling in love! It is a beautiful movie that is classic and timeless!
Lifts my soul every time. RIP Mr Swayze. Forever be dancing🥰🕺🙏
I guess you know who's singing but with a different 'brother.' Great movie if you haven't seen it...Patrick could really dance. Yeah, you have to watch the movie. Still makes me cry, this final happy ending and their fantastic dancing!
Fun fact: the bassist in the “house band” is Dwyght Bryan, one of my oldest friends from high school. He was chosen for the part because the casting director wanted someone who knew how to play the bass (even though he wasn’t required to ever play it during filming), and someone that looked Cuban.
If you're going to react to the ending of movie musicals, try "Xanadu" to see Gene Kelly on roller skates.
Great movie and music

Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers, and the beautiful Jennifer Warnes sing this so great. Two fabulous artists on their own.

Iconic scene from a cult classic. Patrick was a triple threat as a dancer, actor and singer. If you ever heard the expression "No one puts Baby in a corner." this is where it came from. While Jennifer Grey and Patrick didn't get along, they made this film shine. Also the dad was the late great Jerry Orbach.

Fun fact... he blew out his knee before that scene where he jumps off the stage. He was trained as a dancer. And she is the daughter of another famous dancer Joel Grey, actor, singer and dancer of Cabaret.
I've never noticed before but when they all start dancing there's definitely a thriller vibe going on in the dance
One of those films you can watch over and over and still not get tired of. Was quite a low budget film as I remember and was never expected to do as well as it did at the box office..timeless classic, love it
a real classic movie of the 80's... this was a hype back then. dance studios were offering dance lessons where you could learn how to dance THIS dance (been there, done that.. and i loved it). i am glad that you've finally discovered this movie!
If no one has said it already, Bill Medley who sings the male part of the duet for the song, is the deep-voiced half of The Righteous Brothers. This song was in the twilight of his career.
RIP Patrick. Man, he was great. Thanks for this.
Patrick Swayze not only played pro baseball, but also danced with the Joffery ballet! He also recorded several songs.
I have seen this move so many times. I still enjoy it even at 46. Definantely a must watch movie. They are actually Baby's parents who were against their relationship.
According to patrick swayze he had asked jennifer grey a thousand times to be his partner But she turned him down Until jennifer agree to say yes to be his partner They did they have a fantastic chemistry together Swayze studied ballet and dance class he audition for Saturday night fever But john Travolta got the role Who could ever forget the iconic lifting
The singers are Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley, one of the Righteous Brothers.
Patrick Swayze began his career as a dancer...the acting came later. I actually know his brother Donny. They both came from a dancing background as their mother was a famous dance instructor in Houston. And the male singer in this song is Righteous Brother Bill Medley! The man and woman in the movie were both HER parents, and the actor playing the father was the late great Jerry Orbach, the long-time star of the hit TV series Law & Order.
The woman in white who stood up in the video was one of the choreographers for the movie & was not supposed to play the part of Vivien. She had a great performance. "Baby" was the daughter of the doctor. Dirty Dancing had great music.
Patrick Swayze was a professionally trained dancer, singer, actor and so much more. He was a man of many many talents!!! I miss him. RIP Patrick!! Watch the movie, it's great!
It’s a classic must watch movie! That was her parents at the table and Patrick Swayze’s character was a dance instructor at this resort. Patrick was a trained dancer as his Mom owned a dance studio when he was growing up.
