i prefer using a sidchrome rachet as a hammer ..sorry bangy thing .because if your going to use the wrong tools for the job make sure you use the most expensive tools in your tool box

Sometimes if you let the rubber soak in oil or pb blaster of some kind, it can be saved, but most of the time, if the rubber is brittle, it is best to just replace it

Interesting, usually you see the super shifter 3 with a large mounting bracket that mounts the shifter back about 1 foot for b bodies.

Nice video Jed. Its been a few years since i rebuilt one. I should get one to replace the junk ford one i got.

On a Hurst shifter aluminum T handle the intermediate switch can it be changed out for full on and off switch?

great video, good tech on saving an old shifter. That said, it drives me nuts when you keep calling a carriage bolt a stove bolt. Not even close.

I HAVE A 73 PLY CUDA EBODY I ORDERED A NEW MECHANISM FOR MY 340.WHEN I GOT IT IT WAS FOR A 72 BBODY EVEN THAT MY TRANSMISSION IS OUT OF A 72 CHALLENGER WILL THIS MECHANISM FIT MY EBODY CUDA AND WHAT ABOUT MY LINKAGE WHAT WOULD I NEED TO GET. HELP!!!!!!

Thanks for the great how to video. Did you say you use a custom mix of wheel bearing grease and PB Blast ? in your video it looks like you were using just the grease from the can.

Any ways to shorten up the shift throw on an A body with a B body pistol-grip? MAYBE a e body shifter with longer arms? ??? Any ideas/suggestions are welcome

The easiest way is to use the shift levers from a actual Pistol grip shifter. They are longer and shorten the throw up quite a bit, I have one, but I didn't use it

You do not take that part of the shifter apart, Dan Brewer at Brewers performance even recommended against doing that. Just replace that part if necessary.
