That's it. I've had a lot of fun riding by myself, but the best riding days I've had were the ones where I was with my buddies, and the terrain was genuinely challenging. When my friends are there, I'm genuinely willing to push myself further, try harder, and expand myself well past my comfort zone, because I know if my bike gets stuck up a tree, or if I loop it out hard and break myself, I've got someone there help. And I know if I'm in that situation, they will help, and if they are in that situation where it's gone wrong, I'm the first guy to dump his bike to go and lend a hand. I've witnessed a tantrum or two, but I try not to hold it against who it is, because I know, riding is what we do to blow off some steam, and when riding goes wrong enough it just blows off in a different way.

And don't forget grace / compassion / forgiveness. Give people the space and time to apologize and improve after bad behavior. That's how people grow. :)

my personal opinion pretty well mirrors what you said about the tough times being the memory making moments more than many of the other moments. some of the greatest laughs and bench racing in my life have been about the times we were stuck out after dark without lights scabbing together a way to get back to the truck, or unswamping a buddies bike. sure there are some rides where we had flawless conditions that are equally memorable. at the end of the day al those great memories are what makes this sport so special to me.

My normal group of people I hang out with are people I met riding. Aside from dirtbiking and motorcycles, we are all car lovers as well. Within our current group, we have all thrown a fit to ourselves over something stupid we did or broke, but typically we have all banded together to rig a repair to get back to the trucks or keep riding for the rest of the day. I don’t think we’ve ever been angry towards one another because we seem to all think on the same wavelength; to say I’m lucky to have this group of friends is an understatement. We used to ride in a big group, to which there were some genuine assholes, which is why only five of us from that group ride together now. We will forgive any bad blood, but we are less willing to ride with those people again. We’ll have a drink with them, but not share a ride. For Jordan, Chris, Damain, Cody and myself, our rides are an intimate experience we only will have amongst ourselves, or in the rare cases, the wives will join on the ATV’s and make the rides a bit boring 😉 With our current riding group, we are all grateful for each other, not only for when shit hits the fan, but for as genuine friends on and off the trail.

I love the peace that i feel riding, a car doesnt have the same freedom or joy / risk or reward.

Dallas, I think I probably *was* that guy about 11 years ago.. maybe not to the level you described in the video, but close enough. Since then I have worked on being the hero instead. I know I've successfully been the hero many times since... and I consider it a service to my fellow riders to show that patience and gratefulness to the other guys, even when things kinda suck. I take a lot of newer riders with me these days, and I try to show them that the sky really isn't falling, and there's no need to panic. I hope I am successful...

I ride mainly for my number one hobby, photography, that means mainly riding solo. Riding gets me acess to great scenery and historical items like old mines. Riding solo means I've got to keep my skills up with loads of dirt bike schools. In group rides I bag the camera, but that doesn't kill the fun. In a mid September group ride of nine, a beginner rider I had invited broke his leg. Everyone in the group was a right there to help him out and I was the only one who even knew his name. All Stars all as some riders went in different directions in search of cell connection. It took search and rescue with a side be side ATV to get him to an ambulance. So if your not in a group, keep refreshing your skills with dirt bike schools.
