I can listen to someone using a rasp on a piece of wood all day and all night. it's soothing to my ears
That shot with the knife sitting in the blade cutout was just too cool.
Mr.DiResta, your one of the few guys that deserves putting his name on every thing he does. Very nice workmanship.
You should make a cleaver out of the other half of saw blade. Always nice to have a matching set! :-)

super nice, Jimmy. My 3 yr old girl will have a blast watching this one with me... ("Daddy, I want to watch Jimmy making a BIG knife" was a recurring theme a few weeks back). bzw, my kids love when you make signs too, tons of signs, with letters and numbers, yeah. Keep on trucking ! (from France)
"That's not a knife this is a knife!"
The hand shaping of the handle was incredible! Great build
found this amazing channel a few days ago, subscribed straight away and haven't stopped watching it since, keep up the good work👍👌
Now THAT'S a knife.
There was hair on his arm again, so time for another knife! ;-) Really awesome knife Jimmy, love it!!
i have been watching diresta videos for over 3 years now they are really good
I've watched many of your videos, and your ability to look at what is and envision what could be is marvelous.
That is awsome, I was going to ask how much to buy one then I thought to myself what the heck get off your arse and make one yourself ! Wish me luck ! And thank you for another cool video.
You're gonna piss off all the 50 year old sawmill blade nerds Jimmy, what are you doing! :P
Impressive build and a GREAT video of the process! A rare combination of excellent skills, both a maker and a videographer. Very nicely done, thank you!
Seriously Jimmy you deserve a medal. I watched all your videos.
I'm sure Crocodile Dundee would agree..."Now, THAT'S a knife"!

BADDDASSSS BLADE ! ! !! GREAT WORK BROTHER.. I love your channel....;)-
Thanks for all the tips and the inspiration!
you are so professional. I appreciate your creation
I think I missed a step. How did the Diresta get on the side of the blade? Does all the material in his shop just slowly develop the marking now?
"now that's a knife" said in aussie accent. =]
Fabulous knife and so expertly made and (frustratingly) you make it look so easy!
I am continually impressed by your craftsmanship. Also, these videos are extremely relaxing.

Hell yeah
Jimmy just a little advice, when making a knife like this.. Where the handle and blade meet, there needs to be a radius, as the square section can cause what is known as stress risers in the steel. It doesn't have to me massive just a small radius with a round file prevents this take care and keep up the great work

I love this kind of videos, this kind where you take old stuff to make new ones, or you repair like the Fireman AXE, or the old tools you polish, you should make more like this ones, or put them in a special list. Great work! big fan!

+john smith Wasn't that around 4:50 ?
@johnsmith-sw7ii
8 жыл бұрын
+Brandon Darensburg No....At 4:50 he is hardening the steel which makes it very hard and brittle. It must be reheated after this at a lower temp to temper the steel and make it less brittle. Some put it in a toaster oven at 400F for 2 hours...other guys like to heat it with a torch until a desired color appears. Opinions vary BUT MUST BE TEMPERED or it will snap. Put an old file in a vice and hit it with a hammer and you will see....file will snap right in half.

@younggucci4934

Oh wow i appreciate the clarification
Looks good +JimmyDiresta ! Something I've discovered is that its pretty easy to put a chamfer/angle/round on the "bolster" part of the handle scales (that transitions to the blade) if you clamp them up using the pins as a reference before you put the knife handle between them. I usually use belt sander +/- files. You can get all kinds of transitions that way (even carve it a bit) and if they're a bit off it doesnt matter - once it's attached to the knife, the blade is inbetween the two and you can't visually compare one side to another.
Thank you Diresta ! You are a free radical ! In this illusion .
do the throne of GOT, that will be fucking epic
