i was wondering how you would even fill in the gaps, i was thinking spray foam? but how do you cover that up? some kind of scribed trim? but yeah, mortar, duh.. love it

As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement kzread.infoUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!

This descent of stone stairs ending with such a door... It feels like entering the caves of Moria !!! It's just beautiful!!!

Why would I care if he used a level? I have 12 different levels in sizes from 6-feet down to 8-inches and I don't need Jimmy Diresta to remind me how to use them.

One of the first KZread channels I watched was back when you were in NYC turning discarded items into functional things, like old lumber into a NYC skyline bench.

Has a very nice closing and secured sound that you can readily identify when coming and going

I love those old houses with the crazy fieldstone basements.

I had to rewatch 19:33 a few times. The pitch increasing as the nail was driven in was sooooo satisfying!

Watching you videos is what got me into "making" years ago. I'm a barber by trade, but now I have a single car garage filled with old (some new) woodworking tools, a welder and plenty of projects that I am proud to say "I made that"! Thanks Jimmy!

Very impressive. You make it look so easy and only took 20 minutes plus the time to edit the video.

When I'm doing a project that looks old I like to take a torch to the zinc hardware until it gets red hot. It leaves it with a black patina that can be waxed, lacquered or just left to rust. It's an easy way to come up with some old looking hardware.

The little "It fits" at 18:38 was perfect

The different items you make really show off your skill and versatility as an artisan. The stuff you make is just so incredibly beautiful...its functional art at its finest! Nothing but mad respect for your skill and creativity!

I was going to say you could throw a cat through the Gap but then I saw they can use the door too. I'm sure somebody's coming back to grout it in. It's perfect Jimmy. Very cool build.

This cellar entrance looks eerily similar to one which I had started a very similar door replacement for but never finished - now I see how it could have gone! In particular, your welded pin-into-foundation mounting scheme is a simple yet very effective manner of attachment and one which I had not imagined for my build. Excellent concept and build. I too am a fan of boiled linseed oil for some of my wood projects.

I remember back in the day when all of JD’s tools were painted white. Nice to see manufacturers finally showing the love to someone who has spent a lot of time and effort showing us his methods.

This is a beautiful thing. Reminds me of the first video of yours I ever saw; the teak strip conference table with the square tube steel base. You've added a few skills to your catalogue since then, but that's still my favorite.
