Personally I never noticed any mis-synchronization to this choreo! Not saying there wasn’t any but this song and the strength of the choreo stand out as legendary to me! I love the lyrics and the strength of the vocals. The rap was super fire! 🔥 If I had to pick anything missing it would be more of their gorgeous visuals hidden by all the darkness! But without the darkness there wouldn’t be any mystery and monstrous shadows depicted in the lyrics! This song started me down the path of loving EXO!

I know when you see the word "K-pop" one thing that comes to mind immediately is hardcore dancing and super in sync. EXO are great dancers but most of EXO choreo caters for them to still sing stable when a live setting is required. Most newer groups these days have really hard dance moves that it's impossible to stay stable while doing those hard moves resulting in just either lip syncing to studio version, pre-recorded edited vocals, or loud backing track to be able to do the performance without sounding unstable or breathless.

Kpop was never "super in sync". That's a trendy misconception. If people want an extremely synced choreo, then they'd watch an actual dancing crew performance. There are almost no kpop group whose synchronization matches at the level of dance crew. & Even if there's any, they usually sacrificed good singing technique or actual live singing for that. Bcus it's just impossible to do both, at 100% max power. & by kpop standard, EXO's synchronization is pretty damn good.

one of the best generation of kpop, not just the visual but the skill and talent they showcase

Watch the dance practice for this song. Also watch the OBSESSION video by EXO. Their videos usually have some kind of story behind them (like here, Baekhyun seems like he’s the enemy the whole time, but it turns out he’s an undercover agent who’s part of the resistance).

Tbh, their sychronisation is good, they just never really cared unless that's the main point of choreo. Most of the time, they prefer on live singing too, so unless it is absolutely needed, they forgo the synchronisation 😂

You're right about the camera work for sure! most companies didn't start using the robot arm cameras, like the colossus/MIA/RED/etc, for music videos until a bit later (like a year or two later I think?) so it's not too surprising that some of the choreo shots aren't exactly what you'd think considering it's from 2016. also if I remember correctly, since this was filmed with some of the members in different places/countries, the scheduling was weird and very tight, aka not enough days to stay up all night to get enough takes for a more perfectly synchronized shot either. most mvs used the be shot over 2 days/nights, whereas now it's usually 3-4 days/nights or more sometimes, depending on the complexity of the mv storyline, number of locations, or size of the company (aka budget). not trying to excuse anything at all. exo are good dancers, but they're a more vocally focused group first and foremost, like most groups at SM are. they tend to be good dancers, but they're not built to be amazing dancers as a whole (though they have a few specialist dancers in the group for sure). the vocals and overall performance live comes first and dance second, at least for exo anyway. for the newer gen SM groups the standard changed somewhat to fit the trends in the industry, but I digress.

this was the song that got me into K pop....in my top 10 favourite. EXO is a power group they are so talented. Obsession, kokopop, the Eve, pappercut (live) , etc you have to see it

Hate hand-held camera, at weird angles, moving around all the time, with obscene amounts of cuts to hide bad dancing and whatnot, I LOVE that this does NOT have all that. And EXO does NOT really hide their dancing or certain members cuz they might be slightly less on point than the rest. On the contrary, you will easily see anyone take centre stage anytime, and that's one of the things i LOVE about them that they do differently from basically every other group. I don't know what is not in sync in this video, certainly nothing obvious. Plus their choreographies tend to have them dancing in pairs or groups all the time, they are not all supposed to be doing the exact same thing all the time, which can make them look more out of sync when you cut to them moving in the middle of dancing etc. Also I'd rather they are not in perfect sync at times than see any of those things i mentioned at the beginning, which i also have never seen anyway.

You will not be disappointed getting to know exo. Their vocals are known to be really good, and their discography is really cool. you have to check their live performance, their voices is even better live than studio version.

The rap part in Monster is legendary and incredible, fire!

Rap part is like.. uffff goosebumps

still remember the excitement and amazement i had for this mv ! it's so good and thrilling . Haha it's the first EXO song i waited to stream as soon as it come out . at that time, streaming were not a thing like today where fandom competing each other for views within 24 hrs. EXO were at peak of their popularity and they totally deserve it. SM did dirty on them with 3 years hiatus . It took a hit in their popularity i mean new tides are moving too fast in this industry. However, i believe EXO still deserve more attention from people because of their talents.

You better pay attention to the vocals rather than choreo. Cause EXO is more vocal based group. Their choreo might not always be that "perfect" but the vocals are always on top. Vocal kings indeed.
