look up 1929 Hebron massacre ... Jews were harassed in Palestine way before the establishment of Israel. And the guy who organized it had connections with Hitler, planning to eradicate the Jews coming to Palestine way before then. Easy to find information.

While this documentary can be praised for shining a light on what happened in Tantura let's not forget that Palestinians have been saying what happened in Tantura for years, and yet it was stripped down to rumours, to just Palestinians smearing Isreal's image. When watching this documentary, keep in mind that this documentary was made and released by isreali's. That an isreali told the story. Which begs the question: who holds credibility when showing the events of 1948. Who has credibilty when showing the human rights violations of 75 years of isreali occupation? And why do they have more credibility than Palestinians? Who is allowed to critise the colonial state? Who is allowed to shine a light on the war crimes done perpetrated by the colonial state?

Everyone should see that documentary. It's the kind of work that can create the peace we need.

I think the movie has a problem of giving the perpetrators too much attention and rarely having any actual Palestinians talk about the experience. It’s more focused on the impact it will have on the Israeli state rather than the continuous impact it has on the Palestinians

it is the intra-Israeli and intra-Jewish dialogue that is focused on which is necessary in its own right. For the same reason, there are white racial affinity groups to help white people process their initial reactions toward grappling with racism. I think we can all agree that if anyone wants to seriously be in solidarity with Palestinians they need to watch more than 1 documentary in their lives and they need to hear the voices of Palestinians. I don't think this is meant the be THE authoritative film on the occupation of Palestine but one that questions the foundations of the narrative Israel tells about itself

The idea of one democratic state is utopian at best and amazingly naive. 1. All you are going to do is create a new Yugoslavia where different ethnic groups massacre each other in a brutal civil war. 2. The is no such thing as an Arab state that is democratic, pluralistic or liberal in any way in the Middle east and not for lack of trying. You cant force western mentality and values everywhere.

Would be good to see the wider context of all the ethno/religious massacres & forced exiles throughout the ottoman & after spaces. Armenians, Greeks, Turks, Palestinians, Jews in Arab states etc. It's a huge process & only looking at the Palestinian dimension I think obscures what happened. If the Arab armies had won in 1948 would a Nakba in reverse have happened?

No it doesn’t obscure what happened. This film is about this particular Palestinian village that was massacred by Jewish terrorists groups. There are other films about other horrible incidents and they all deserve to be made to be in the forefront in their own right.

What have Palestinians to do with all ppl you mentioned ? the context is totally different...it's like let us see first the context of Holocaust before we judge.. If you want really to look wider, it's the zionist entity that was invented as a colony in context of colonization... Half of villages that were destroyed and half of ppl that were expelled by force and some massacres allready started many months before Arab armies entered the war. "the reverse Nakba" doesn't fit the context here, it's conflict between natives and settler colonialists..Its like saying if the Native Americans won the war they would massacred the white settlers (are they equally blamed !!?)...In spite of this, jews were living peacfully with Arabs in Palestine before zionism and Arabs opened their homes to shelter and host first Jews immigrants as they themselves mentioned in their diaries.

Idk what the Palestinians have to do with what you just said. When Palestinians talk about nakba it isn’t some “spectacle of an event that happened in the past”, it’s an ongoing structure of violence that is still happening to this very day, and you said it yourself by saying it’s a huge process. I’m pretty sure there has been films and documentaries about the Armenian genocide etc. but this particularly sheds light on Palestinians and the Zionist colonial project. I don’t see any obscuring going on, I think you’re missing the point…

This Alon Schwartz is what we call in Hebrew a Rasha Gamur. He mentions in passing that the Arabs attacked the Jews after the UN voted to give the Jews a state, that is the main point. He doesn't address the fact that those Arab villages that did not participate in attempting to throw the Jews into the sea are thriving in prosperity in Israel today. Even if it's true, (probably exaggerated) that Jews killed Arabs after the battle was over, it's like most wars fought against a brutal enemy like the Nazis, the Japanese, and the Viet Cong. Soldiers get worked up by the barbarism of the enemy and sometimes lose control and take revenge (by instant killing, no barbaric tortures). We see how barbaric the Arabs are (some like the Bahrainis and the Emeratis have changed and adopted some 20th Cent. Western values). The way Arabs treat women, the way they torture criminals (cutting off hands) and enemies. The corruption of their justice systems. Hamas on Oct. 7th were only doing what is perfectly normal and acceptable in their culture.
