Directing Camera Movement - Filmmaking Techniques for Directors: Ep4
Фильм және анимация
How do the best directors use movement of the camera to get emotion from the audience? Download your FREE camera movement worksheet to get started: bit.ly/2LOA8ax
In episode 4 of our Filmmaking Techniques series, we’ll explore the director’s journey and how they collaborate with a cinematographer to create effective scenes that get emotion, excitement, and chills from the viewer.
It’s important to remember we are following master directors, so whether you want to learn the basics or need to brush up on your already adequate skills, this series is for you.
We’ll go over the best shots and most effective shooting techniques so you can get started on your first or fortieth feature. These are the best movie shots ever in our opinion.
You’ll see work from Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, Paul Greengrass, and others.
Chances are some of your favorite shots in movie history involve movement of the camera. But not everything is a Paul Thomas Anderson oner or a Wes Anderson tracking shot. Sometimes movement is more subtle.
The ins and outs of cinematography and directing are nuanced. We have an entire series of these videos, so subscribe to the StudioBinder channel to find more free resources for you to use when crafting your next project.
Which of these shots inspired you? Any we forgot? Put it in the comments or find us on Social Media below and tell us!

Overdone shaky cam makes me not like a movie. If it’s to disorienting I can’t get in to it. Great video though this channel is amazing

"Think about what you want the audience to focus on in each shot and why it serves the story? Then think about what devices and movements can help you achieve that" I will keep this in mind always, logical movement. Thank you very much.

It's a shot that calls unwarranted attention to itself and is almost never used well. Not even Spielberg or Scorcese used it well IMO.
I reallly didnt want this video to end, i need more of this.!
I watched this video in my Video Production class as an example of looking at different camera movements and not only are there a lot of films I like here, but it tells me that there’s plenty of interesting shots you can make using these techniques.
I just discovered this channel this year. Thanks for helping to kick my 2019 off right!
Absolutely one of the best filmmaking channels on KZread. Brilliant stuff, definitely make more
No clickbait. This channel is the best.
Love these. The crane to gimbal, drone to gimbal etc are awesome!! 😀🕺🏻🎥🏖🇦🇺

Such a nice training material.Thank you so so much! It's very useful for aspiring filmmakers. I would love to see more about scene blocking in eminent filmmakers' works.
I watched the whole video because it was very interesting for me! Thank you!
Just explained in the best way. Wow , thanks a lot...
I have always been interested in using the rack focus better I never knew a name for it or how/when to use it. thank you so much this video was very helpful !!
Hey Studiobinders, You people are deliberately creating good Film Technicians. Thanks for the worthy illustrations.
GREAT video, simple, complete and well made.
My fav camera movement + cg trickery scene is that one sequence from Kingsmen The Golden Circle. The camera starts from landscape, enters building from top and then the actual mind bending camera direction, editing and cg takes place.
These videos are inspiring future filmmakers. Hats off!
Best channel about cinematic techneuiqes; High quality, good examples and very well explained. Thank you so much! Please also make a video about lighting especially in different genres .

Corridor digital (you may remember their infamous Bosstown Dynamics videos) have some very creative shots, such as the technique they developed to film something to look like a third person camera game, I won't spoil it, but they are a creative group.
