Calling Elvis es el primer sencillo del álbum On Every Street of Dire Straits, lanzado en1991.
La canción tiene como tema los fanáticos de Elvis Presley que creen que todavía está vivo y hace referencia a varias canciones de Presley como Heartbreak Hotel , Love Me Tender , Don't Be Cruel y Return to Sender . El video musical fue dirigido por Gerry Anderson y hace referencia a la serie de televisión animada Sentinels in the Air , que muestra a los miembros de la banda en forma de títeres.

On the Night es el segundo álbum en vivo de la banda británica Dire Straits, lanzado en 1993. En un principio, estaba planeado como un doble álbum. Sin embargo, finalmente se optó por publicar un solo disco para que no compitiera con Alchemy, el primer álbum en directo de la banda. Grabado en 1992 durante dos conciertos de Dire Straits, poco tiempo después sería publicado el EP Encores con tres canciones no incluidas en On the Night y procedentes de los mismos conciertos.

The same theme "calling Elvis" was the intro of Mark Knopker's concert around the world. I saw him after dire straits dissolved. In 2001 April 6th. Luna Park stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Only in the second line , a few meters of him. Jeans, shirt and yet with long hair 😄. Is indescriptible his talent with the guitars!. Awesome is less... absolutely wonderful was the mark Knopker's concert.
This was recorded in the Feyenoord stadium in Rotterdam, they switch between this and Nimes from song to song on this DVD

Way back when cellphones did not ruin our lives.....
The album that made me never pick up a pick and study lute-technique on top of regular classic and flamenco instead. Or how to say i still really can't play with a pick 30 years later.

It's more a drum set and a percussion set. And the only one band i know using two drum sets is Genesis but in fact, there's a lot of band doing that : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_drumming

Amazes me that Dire Straits sold out stadiums back in the day. Great band but not an explosive stadium rock outfit

It's not like they sold out stadiums, they did multiple days in a row in the same place. It was crazy.

I get what you mean, but the synergy of raw talent and chemistry is powerful. Especially without the distraction of fireworks and showbiz which they obviously weren't about. That's why they sold out stadiums because their music rattled the soul. Great live band.

Simple really. They sold out stadiums around the world to witness a guitarist and a band of musicians at the very peak of their powers. Untouchable live imo. Unique. Nothing flashy. Just raw talent who loved to entertain.
