Very informative, and great results. When I am "painting" with either paint or PlastiDip and using more than 1 gallon, I always use a fresh clean 5 gallon bucket from my local big box store. I pour every gallon I will be using for a specific color into the bucket, and add all the pigment, and mix. Remix every time you need to reload your gun, and if your gun has a large hopper, swirl it around every 30 seconds, or so to keep everything thoroughly mixed. I also use an inline air drier to prevent any moisture from the compressor tank getting into the paint or Dip, which could easily ruin your project. This will guarantee a 110% even color throughout your entire painting project, every time. If there is anything left over, seal it back up in the original 1 gallon can. The nice part about PlastiDip, with the cleanup here, is that after the dip that remained in the 5 gallon bucket dries, you can peel it right out and the bucket is like new.

Did you have to thin the plastidip before spraying? Also do you happen to know the needle size? 1.8? great work car turned out really good!

Looks great I’ve been wondering about using a hvlp gun with plastidip but I thot it would clog up to bad and maybe even ruin my gun but now I know it works only have 2 questions that you didn’t mention which are important did you do anything different to clean the gun compared to what youde do after spraying normal paint and also the really important thing is did you use the 1.8 tip or a larger tip? Any tips on that would be very appreciated thanks

I was shocked how nice the color came out. Looks like the stock color 'Diamond Graphite', which looks killer on these cars. That rear bumper, though...not my cup of tea. I don't think it goes well with the Inven rep front, but to each his own!

What size gallon air tank do you use? And are you using any sort of ventilation, or does spraying at 30psi minimize the amount of over spray?

How do you clean the gun between using black gallons and dippearl coats? Don't wanna spray black with my clear purpletop coat

Where did you purchased your hvlp gun? I noticed that you didn't add any Xylene or VM&P to the paint canister, why? And where did you buy your rims?

No issues running dip as it out of the HVLP gun? I've never tried it and was always given to understand that regular plastidip is not suited for HVLP and you have to move up to proline or autoflex if you want to use HVLP. Didn't gum up the gun? Any problems at all? How much better is the atomization? Kinda looks like you have the same amount of orange peel as if you used the advanced turbine from DYC, but it's hard to tell. I'd like to try this in my shop, and I have a 60g air tank so an HVLP gun isn't super expensive. Last question: what tip did you use?

After spraying, how to clean the spray gun? With thinner like normal paint?

Is this just basic pd? Not proline or autoflex? Also what tip are you using? I had heard that you couldn't spray basic pd through an hvlp gun. Thanks in advance.

can u go into more detail on the psi u spray ur pds at. also... how do u determine the flow rate as well? i was spraying a Ford bronco and i started getting "cob web" looking material coming out with the dip.

yhwhdesigntruth at 2:56 it clearly has 30 psi on the screen for pressure to spray!

You should look into getting proper HVLP Fittings and air hose if you want to use a HVLP paint gun. Also you didn't mention what size fluid tip is needed for spraying plasti dip. You may also want to try a filter and desiccant snake to help control the dirt and water that is produced from your compressor. this could make a big difference on how everything comes out in the end.

Make sure the area you are doing so in is clear, and that there are no trees/debris that can possibly get on the coat. Make sure the day is clear and that it isn't too windy, or if its raining, etc. It would be preferred to do it indoors though, you're bound to have something fall on the coat while its drying.

On dipyourcar.com, there is no dip pearl called "Hyper Black Graphite Pearl"... what am I missing?

+sandaly traore Well if you want the same color as this infiniti, you will need storm cloud grey dippearls your dyc topcoat, over a black base. If you can show them the video, they should be able to do it spot on

+vmak12345 I dipped it all and then peeled up any excess afterwards. If you want do dip it all, take the mirror off of the car so you can dip it any way you like, and guarantee that you've got it all covered in dip.

Inven replica bumper? A real one would fit a lot better. Assuming its fiberglass?

For the base coat, is it bad to walk the length of the car? DYC shows "panel by panel", yet your finish came out great walking the length for the base coat. is there any difference in results?

Basecoat, no difference.. Its easier to control, going panel to panel. The same with standard colors. Its when you´re spraying pearls and metals, that you need to go the lenght of the car, to avoid "shadows".

Nice job. I'm just wondering on the gravity feed cup guns like that, do you have problems with them feeding properly on places like the hood and roof, if you'd do the roof as well?? I usually use suction cups at work professionally (not dip though) and have never used a gravity feed like that. So thats my question.. Thanks in advance

Sick Dips I know you used a 1.8 tip from 18-30PSI, but do you need to thin it? Or is that larger too enough to compensate for the thick material. Just can't find that answer, thanks.

Would this qualify as a satin or semi-gloss finish? Would adding a third coat of DYC top coat make a dramatic difference in the gloss finish?

+tominfhl I think that satin and semi-gloss are the same thing and I think that is what this car turned out to be. Adding the DYC topcoat straight onto the vehicle will help in this area to make it glossy. When you ad pearls to it is diminishes the glossiness.

Just subscribed. Cool vids, I have a few questions. I noticed your Ontario plates, I'm from Ontario as well. Where do you recommend buying dip by the gallon? Also, have you tried putting on a layer of straight topcoat to get more gloss instead of mixing it in sort of like a clearcoat layer?

+LyGuy13 I buy my plastidip from the US, and import it into Canada. It is by far the cheapest way of getting it here. It can be very expensive buying it online. I have tried it before however I haven't made a video of it yet.

+Sick Dips I assume you ship it to warehouse and then cross border to pick it up. Do you have problems importing them in? I've read that the plastidip formula is different in States than in Canada and thus making it importing more difficult. How are the results of a top layer of topcoat only? Better? Worth the effort?

You should do a how to on the new autoflex coatings. So true gloss colors like you see on factory cars. Dyc says it's only a professional product.

Yeah, you need to be a bit skilled for Autoflex, but the hours practicing, is definitely worth it.

Problem with dip is when you wash it the hard water spots stick out like large freckles. It pisses me off.

+dmikhael619 I used Rubber Dip Spray so it is already prethinned. Ran me a couple hundred bucks. I'm not quite sure the exact numbers but you can price it out on the DYC website
