Diorama of Forgotten Shrine and Guardian【thalassophobia/Aquaphobia/Cryptid/Creature/Resinart】
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
A remote island in the sea near Japan.
The shrine is on the cliff.
There used to be a man who jumped into the sea from the shrine grounds.
He intended to die.
But a few days later he was found lying on the beach in Japan.
The man was alive.
He spoke this way.
"I dreamed, a giant creature saved my life."
No one has visited the shrine anymore.

I like how you always put "I dont have *insert technique here*" but then you flawlessly free hand cut all those roof pieces out and then slip them together seamlessly... no guides, no templates, just pure free hand. THAT is skill.

I like to imagine that this large creature would come every so often to admire and examine the people who visited his home, relishing the warm glow of kindness, respect, and peace they would bring to his domain. However, the temple has long been without visitors and everyday he pokes his head out the water, hoping, riddled with longing to see, to feel once again a glimpse of the light and warmth that used to florish here at this now sad, deserted memory...

To my dearest, my deepest secret: are you well? I saw you a couple times today. Four times, really. You tried too hard to make meeting me to be real, little do you know we had already seen each other in our dreams. I tried to go to where you are. If you know? My spirit looked for you from one place to another, in that shinning city you lived in. Maybe I am crazy liked you told me, but the craziest thing for our mind is to believe that this so called reality we see now with this body on earth, is even real. Where do we really exist? I don’t love for your face, don’t love you for your wealth. Maybe it was the wish you made before, to me that to be together, But it never came. So I know, even death cannot pull us apart. Seeing you once is enough for my life time as I am existing in this body, for this time. Eternity is easily said, but who is. Doing it?

I mean, there's no 'dialogue' in it, just the very soft generic atmosphere music. The only words are the captions for supplies the artist occasionally puts up, and they don't speak those out loud either. So our deaf friends are not missing anything in that regard. I watch them muted at work and also thoroughly enjoy them. Truly enjoyable, relaxing, and inspiring, for all of us!

It looks like a Shinto shrine of the Heian period. I think the guardian was a koi-sized creature living in a pond in the imperial grounds, and the boy who would grow up to be emperor Kanmu was his main friend. The boy would bring him food from his own table, go swimming with it, and even come down to the pond with his homework to do it there by his friend. Later, the emperor had a home built in a secret spot so he could get away from the burgeoning politics and court intrigue of the time - down by the coast. He brought his friend there, and would sit on the deck at the local shrine in the middle of the night, long after the Shinto devotees had gone home for the night, and talk with his friend - well, talk at his friend, but he liked to imagine that his friend could understand and sympathise. While having a midnight dip with his friend one time, he remembered his father talking about a magnificent horse and addressing it as a 'noble beast,' and the young Kanmu decided to call his friend Kōkina-kemono. The noble beast still remembers his young friend, and surfaces in that spot on the occasional dark night. Perhaps one of Kanmu's heirs will visit the spot some day, and the bond between Kōkina-kemono and the Kanmu family will blossom again?

I'm going down the rabbit hole today with these resin art dioramas, and I will say the neatest apart about this person's art is how accessible they make it. Just using supplies you can fairly cheaply get, and not all the expensive tools and 3D printers and sponsored supplies that many other artists are given or otherwise have. If someone really wanted to make this, and had the patience, they could at least try, or be inspired by this persons craftwork to do similar things.

The end results may differ, but if you pay attention you'll see some great techniques you can use in other things. How to make believable trees, for example. How to create the skeleton of, and add scales to, a clay model. The method of making grass for terrain. The method and care you need to put into the tiled roof of a model house. How to make certain that your model is as close to perfectly square as possible. Practising each of the techniques he shows brings this kind of complicated diorama a step closer, one model at a time. All it takes is practice, focus and dedication. However: None of this would have even occurred to me. The amount of small detail and care that went into this model is astounding.

I appreciate the storytelling aspects of your art and your sculpting abilities (no 3D printing). The details are phenomenal and even though no one will ever see them, you still put tufts of grass under the decking…. I simply adore this level of professional perfectionism! I hope it is as rewarding for you as it is for your viewers. 💚
I love that you never call the sea creatures monsters, that you call them guardians. It's a really sweet touch to these gorgeous videos
これはいつにも増してすごい。レジンの気泡も守護神の動きで起こっているかのような臨場感を生み出していますね!
I see you often put a disclaimer here where you say something like: "I'm aware that i don't have technique". If people say that about you.. they should show that they can make something better than what you make. Even if there are probably people out there who might have some better technique It will only be a handful and THOSE people would never look down on someone able to create the things you do... I for sure didn't find someone better than what you do yet. So why would you care for idiots giving a negative review? This is superb work!
@Dragonbleps

Beyond belief, congratulations for the thought and execution of this project. Wonderful.

12:46 it said "Diorama powder" and I couldn't help but imagine something like getting a cup and putting that thing with water, mix it and boom, you got yourself a Diorama. I'm sorry, just ignore this.

This piece is so beautiful. It felt like a location for a movie.
このあと人間が人食い化け物と勘違いして守護者を討伐しに行くが、守護者が神社を責められていると思い神社を必死に守るという展開が好きです

Something poetic about how you call them guardians.
The cling film over the clay idea is just so clever! Plus l love the tree idea
This made me cry happy tears, It's BEAUTIFUL
This is the most powerful diorama I have ever seen. It's not just the skill but the story and the title. It promises our world is still full of mysteries - it's almost alive !! ^_^
もうすごすぎる…!! 涙でてくる…すごすぎる!! ほんとーうに凄すぎ!!!!
The attention to detail is just phenomenal. You are incredible!

Богатая фантазия и золотые руки... Вот и шедевр. Спасибо, привет из Карелии!!!
So uh, idk if people actively comment on this anymore, but I was watching the video and read the description, and the art and the story were so complex I wanted to write a little bit about it so uh ;v; Nobody came to the shrine anymore. Whether that made the regal thing lonely or not, it did not know. Silently, its colossal form always watched over the shrine; royal, wiry adornments dulled with the depth of the water. Crashing tides had worn away at the cliffside the shrine hung off of. Its pulsing reds and maple varnish had been stripped away with the winds of age. Today, the wind did not blow. In the eerie silence, the creature could hear scuffling on the frayed wood boards drifting slightly above the water’s surface. Its eyes looked up to the man standing on the edge of the shrine. From where the creature was in the water, it could just barely see his small form. From where the creature was, it could see it was a long way down to the water. The man was nearing the edge now, walking with a staggering gait. It seemed that he was unsure. Of what, at the time, the creature did not know. It was made aware soon. The man finally reached the precipice, teetering forward, and with a stumbling blunder of a fall, dived into the abyssal whirl of the spriting sea. The man was found delirious on a beach, so they attributed his preachings to such things as dehydration and the heat. In his bleached state, he wandered around, ferrying what he had seen to anyone who would listen. He spoke the following: “I dreamt a giant creature saved my life,” he paused, rambling on. He seemed to be starting to think it was not, in fact, a dream. “I have found that life is indeed magical, and thus, is worth living,” It seemed as if the ocean itself spritzed at this truth with a smile.

I love ... And I find that the effect of water betraying the movement of the monster is more controlled than "the castle of silence and its guardian". Big kisses of Bandol, in France, and thank you for this sharing and bravo for this sublime diorama.
absolutely stunning! seriously the craftsmanship is out of this world!
Tell me why that 3 minutes before the video ends, I was tearing up due to imagining the story behind this diorama... A forgotten shrine guardian who once protected the land it governs and due to the advancement of time, it's existence and good deeds were lost in time. Then came a little girl who befriended it and together they exchange stories and a strong bond between youkai and human was born.
