i used ot hate the edp but i've definitely grown to love it. it's not as sweet at the edt, but it's mostly powdery, dusky, a little cold. also as someone who used hypnotic poison edt since 2002, i will say this: they replaced the jacaranda wood with rosewood...there's a certain dryness in the background in old formulas that is now replaced with something pale in comparison. i'm pretty sure it's due to cost cutting, but the spices used to pick up more in the older formula, now the scent has a more sweet, toned down "mass appeal". still similar but not exact.

Hi Miri, for the comforting almond vibe, would you recommend the EDP or Velvet Tonka😋 looking for long lasting 8hrs and moderate or good projection

I have BDK's Velvet Tonka and I prefer it over the Hypnotic Poison EDP because the licorice in the EDP is a bit too strong for me. Velvet Tonka is quite interesting, it has a comforting vibe, but at the same time, it's sharp and commanding. Hypnotic Poison EDP lasts longer, but doesn't project on my skin, while Velvet Tonka lasts about 6 hours on my skin and it has moderate projection so others will be able to notice your scent. I hope I'll be able to make an in-depth review of Velvet Tonka soon as well. Thank you for watching. 🥰

I sampled the edt and I liked it, but it just seemed too weak in duration and projection as many modern reformulations are these days. And then I figured it smelled like root beer and it seemed kind of like a kid's fragrance to me. For the Jr high-schoolers. I plan to try the others. Original Poison and the HP edp.

To like the EDP you really need to be onboard with licorice note so that version will be more polarizing. I always thought the original Poison would be too much for me, but I loved it.
