Dionne doesn't overcompensate, she gives the song exactly what it needs but that does not mean she didn't have range because she did!!! She mastered the art of singing, matter of fact her entire family mastered the art of how to sing

Mariah, Celine were the generation after Ms Warwick, Ms Franklin and Ms Knight and etc. They were just little tots and some of them were not even born when Ms Warwick and her contemporaries made their first impression on the music industry. They are definitely on the same class as Ms Labelle , Warwick and etc but were from different generations.

@Tobias Brown Absolutely incorrect- Dionne in the 60’s wigs through to 90’s Whitney also wore many wigs most black singers do. The chemicals In relaxers and harsh lighting are not good for black hair

This just doesn’t sound good or musically to me. I hate to comment this, but I’d feel uneasy if no one agreed. The singing sounds painful and stiff, like she can hardly get it up and out. It doesn’t sound good to me.

I love Dionne Warwick , but I agree with you. She is one of the greatest vocalist of all time, but here she sounds off. This rendition is too radical.

Smoking had its toll on her voice. If she had not smoked, she would have been able to kill this.
