Diode Testing - A Super Simple way to Test a Diode (2019)

This video is to show you a super simple way on how to test a diode.
How??
By using the most common testing equipment every electronic technician already have.
Before you can fully test a diode, you have to understand how a diode works. If you understand how a diode works, then you will know exactly why we test a diode the way we test it.
Most electronic technician doesn't know to to even do this simple test using the multi-meter. They sometimes don't even know that their multi-meter is capable of doing this test.
Watch this video and learn the super simple way to test a diode and you can test any diode in any circuit.

Hi. Excellent tutorial to demonstrate how to test a diode with easy to understand illustrations and simple text and diagrams. One of the best I have followed. I have zero knowledge of basic electronics. A big thank You.

Thank you. I bet many of the viewers on these vids are not familiar at all with this field. I'd like to see more as easily explained and shown. Sir, maybe give us a short list of most uses of these components, inside the inner inside of the things we use daily, and their importance to our devices? Just an idea 🙂

Good stuff! Now I know that I have to remove the diodes out of circuit first before I test them.

Question sir: What if I have a silicone diode that is testing out of circuit at .302? would that be too low a drop and then be a faulty diode?

I found out the long way Schottky voltages are also lower even than Germanium, all the YT talks about Si and Germanium and so I thought I had a bad diode and finally found out mine was fine at .16 so just something to consider if your also running through YT trying to understand how you could get a bad diode out the package.

It is worth noting that u r using the conventional theory of current flow in this video....e.i flow from positive to negative where in reality it is the opposite.....Thanks for the video anyway.

W .Khairi thanks for the comment. Yes, it is the conventional current flow that I’m teaching and not the electron current flow and you are correct in saying that current flow from negative to positive. From my experience, colleges are still widely teaching the conventional current flow. Thanks!!

People still think that lightning strikes start in the clouds and then go towards the ground (negative) without realizing in actuality it’s the other way around.
