I was not aware this game had a solo version 😃. I own Dinosaur Island and love playing it solo, so thank you for showing this off from the same perspective. Another awesome intro 👌.

Thanks! I want to give you a huge heads-up! This game does have a solo version but only the Kickstarter edition. If you buy it at retail, you have to buy an expansion that includes the solo version. As always, thanks for stopping by! It’s always appreciated. Take care.

Well…thanks for this review. As a huge dinosaur fan, I always wondered if I was missing out by not playing this. Doesn’t look like my style of game and the immersion into the actual dinosaurs seems lacking. Could be a good management simulator or environment builder though but man, does it look like there’s a whole lot of busy piece moving. Now I’ll feel zero temptation the next time I see that box on a store shelf. 👍

I get you. It’s definitely not for everyone. The game looks more complicated than it actually is. Once the game gets going, the phases are really quick and to the point. There’s just a lot to learn. Sometimes it felt like the game focused more on the park than on the dinosaurs but when the dinosaurs are present, chaos ensues! Thanks for stopping by!

I can understand why the escaped dino mechanic wasnt included in multiplayer. Some players will go for dinos early and some will not either by strategy or luck of the draw. This will become unbalanced for players who go for dinos early as they have less meeples to work with if they want to capture the escaped dinos. This is the mechanic that makes the game soooo thematic for me. I can just imagine park rangers riding along tourists to capture these escapees. Question: do you roll a danger die if you activate a paddock that was left empty by a dinosaur?

Yes. You still treat the paddock as if it is occupied by a dinosaur. Strange, I know. You’re right about the balance, I never thought about that. Overall, great mechanic and it brings the game to life when playing solo. I was playing Jurassic World Evolution a few months ago and every time a dinosaur escaped, it threw a wrench in my plans and caused chaos. Dinosaur World gave me that same feeling with the escaped dinosaur mechanic. Really fun game! Also, the expansions really add a bunch of variety to the game. Personally, I love the Ice Age pack out of the three with Hybrid being a close second. Thanks for your comment! Take care.

    A “solo review” for a game that doesn’t have a solo mode🙃

It actually does but it’s only available in the Kickstarter edition. That’s why I mentioned that in the video. You can, however, purchase the expansion that includes the solo mode via Pandasaurus Games website. The solo mode actually works really well and even adds a few mechanics that I wish would’ve been in the competitive mode.
